    Abstract

A moisture absorbent shower cap for moisture absorption that includes: an outer layer; an inner absorbent insert, where the inner absorbent insert includes an absorbent material, which is adapted for absorbing moisture within the moisture absorbent shower cap during use; a means to support the inner absorbent insert within the moisture absorbent shower cap; and an opening, where a user places the cap on the user's head through the opening. Preferably, the means to support the inner absorbent insert includes a pocket, where the pocket is made of material consistent with the moisture absorbent shower cap. Alternatively, the pocket is made of a mesh material and the inner absorbent insert may be further supported in the pocket through the use of a hook and loop fastener.

    DETAILED DESCRIPTION

[0010] The present invention relates to a moisture absorbent shower cap that includes an inner layer in the form of an absorbent material that absorbs moisture within the moisture absorbent shower cap during use. This moisture absorbent material therefore alleviates the accumulation of moisture within the moisture absorbent shower cap and creates a more effective moisture absorbent shower cap for the user.

[0011] In reference to FIG. 1, a perspective view of a Moisture absorbent shower cap 100 is depicted. The Moisture absorbent shower cap 100 includes an Opening 32 surrounded by an elastic band. The Moisture absorbent shower cap 100 includes an Outer Layer 35 as shown in FIG. 1. Further within the inner portion of the Moisture absorbent shower cap 100 is Absorbent Material 30 that actively absorbs moisture away from the user's hair. A more clear view of this Absorbent Material 30 is depicted in FIG. 2. Preferably, the Absorbent Material 30 is contained within an inner pocket 33 with the Moisture absorbent shower cap 100 as shown in FIG. 3. Further, within the Inner Pocket 33, a means to support this Absorbent Material 30 within the Inner Pocket 33 may be provided. An example of a supporting means include hook and loop fastenings connecting the Absorbent Material 30 to an inner surface of the Inner Pocket 33. The Inner Pocket 33 may include a surface consistent with the material of the Moisture absorbent shower cap 100 or alternatively, a mesh surface may be provided for the Inner Pocket 33. In the preferred embodiment, the Absorbent Material 30 functions to absorb internal moisture within the Moisture absorbent shower cap 100. The Inner Pocket 33 creates a buffering area to between the Outer Layer 35 and inner compartment of the Moisture absorbent shower cap 100. This buffering area absorbs internal moisture with the Moisture absorbent shower cap 100

[0012] Examples of the material used to create the Absorbent Material 30 includes cotton, absorbent granular gel material, dessicant materials including silica gel, calcium oxide, calcium sulfate, nylon, wicking porous plastic and polyether sulfites. These particular materials may be used individually or in combination in order to create the absorbing material within the moisture absorbent shower cap. The instant invention has been shown and described in what it considers to be the most practical and preferred embodiments. It is recognized, however, that departures may be made there from within the scope of the invention and that obvious modifications will occur to a person skilled in the art.
