TIE CLIP ACCESSORY

Abstract

A tie clip that secures the user's tie to a user's shirt through the use of a button slot. The button slot anchors the tie into a secure position and is preferably attached to the bottom of the tie to secure the tie in a stationary position. The present invention includes an opening clasp, wherein the clasp secures the clip to a portion of the neck tie. Once secured to the neck tie then the clip is then secured through the button slot placement upon a button of a user's shirt. A user may adjust the clip along the length of the tie so that it can be properly secured to an appropriate button.

Claims

1. A tie clip comprising: a hinge, where the hinge is at a first end of the clip and rotates the clip between an open and a closed position; a first clasp; a second clasp; a clasp interior, where the clasp interior receives a portion of a tie; and a button slot between the first clasp and second clasp.

2. The tie clip according to claim 1, where the first clasp includes a first lip and second lip on a first side of the first clasp and the second clasp includes a first lip and second lip on a first side of the second clasp.

3. The tie clip according to claim 2, where the first clasp includes a receiving notch on a second side of the first clasp and the second clasp includes a receiving notch on a second side of the second clasp.

4. The tie clip according to claim 3, where each receiving notch is adapted for insertion between the first lip and second lip of each respective clasp.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

[0010] The present invention relates to a tie clip that is used to secure a tie within a clasp opening and attach the clip to a button of a shirt during use. The tie clip according to the present invention includes a first clasp and a second clasp with a button slot between the first clasp and second clasp. A hinge is provided at one end of the tie clip to open and close the clip to an open position and a closed position. Once in a closed position, tie material in form of a tie tail or possibly the label on the back of the tie is secured within the interior of the clasp. Once secured, the tie clip is attached to a button of a shirt through the button slot provided between the clasps.

[0011] In reference to FIG. 1, a Tie 10 is shown, which includes a Tie Clip 20 in accordance with the present invention. The Tie 10 is arranged in a conventional manner that includes Tie Knot 11, the Fore Tie Portion 12, Tail Portion 14 and a Label 16 on the rear of the Fore Tie 12. Below the Label 16 is the Clip 20. The Clip 20 attaches to the Tie Tail 12 and is then attached to a user's button through the use of a Button Slot 22 as shown in FIG. 2A.

[0012] FIG. 2A further shows the Tie Clip 20 with a side view thereof. This view shows the Button Slot 22 between a First Clasp 24a and a Second Clasp 24b. These clasps secure the tie Clip 20 around the tie Tail 14 as shown in FIG. 1. The tie Tail 14 is preferably inserted within an Interior 24 of the Clip 20 as shown in FIG. 2B. This FIG. 2B shows a top view of the Tie Clip 20 where the components of each clasp is shown. Each clasp includes a Lip 21a, 21b. These Lips 21a, 21b insert into a Receiving Notch 23a, 23b, respectively. The Hinge 25 provides a means to rotate each respective portion of the Clip 20 to open the Interior 24 to receive tie material during use. The Button Slot 23 is shown in a vertical position as are each Clasp 24a, 24b. Preferably, the button Slot 23 is centered between Clasps 24a, 24b. The Hinge 25 may be spring loaded, a swing clip and/or preferably a pressured clip. The length of the Button Slot 22 is preferably at least larger than the radius of the average garment button.

[0013] The present invention provides a means to mitigate the displacement of the neck tie during use. Once the neck tie is attached to the user's button through the button slot, the tie remains secure in a non-dangling position. This controls or diminishes the likelihood of any food particles on the tie while wearing it. Although, the Clip 20 is shown attached to the Tail 14 of the Tie 10 in FIG. 1, the Clip 20 may also be attached directly to the Label 16, where a shorter Tail 14 is provided that does not reach through the Label 16. In this particular embodiment, the clip is rotated so that the slot is in a horizontal position as opposed to the vertical position shown in FIG. 2A. In an alternative embodiment, the Clip 20 may be attached to scarf to secure the scarf in place in the same manner as contemplated with the Tie 10. Once the Clip 20 is attached to the scarf it may be secured onto a button of a shirt or blouse of the user.
