Abstract
An apparatus for a lorry-based concrete mixer is described. The apparatus comprises a vessel adapted to be positioned beneath a concrete mixer discharge chute portion, the vessel comprising a vessel body, the vessel body defining a vessel inlet and a vessel outlet, the vessel inlet being adapted to receive debris and fluid exiting the chute discharge portion, and the vessel outlet being adapted to permit debris and fluid stored in the vessel body to be discharged from the vessel body. There is a direct line of sight for a user through the vessel inlet to the vessel outlet.

A vehicle-mounted apparatus mountable on a lorry-based concrete mixer comprising a mixing drum and a discharge chute, the vehicle-mounted apparatus comprising: a vessel configured to be mounted on a lorry-based concrete mixer, wherein the vessel is mounted relative to the drum and the discharge chute such that the vessel is positioned beneath and detached from an outlet end of the discharge chute, wherein the vessel comprises a vessel body configured to retain fluid exiting the discharge chute, a vessel inlet and a vessel outlet, wherein the vessel inlet and the vessel outlet are located on the same side of the vessel body, and wherein there is a direct line of sight for a user through the vessel inlet to the vessel outlet, wherein the vessel inlet is configured to receive debris and fluid exiting the discharge chute, and the vessel outlet is configured to permit debris and fluid stored in the vessel body to be discharged from the vessel body; the vessel inlet includes an inlet section attached to the vessel body, the inlet section having a larger cross-sectional area than the vessel inlet, wherein the inlet section is configured to funnel debris and fluid exiting the outlet end of the discharge chute toward the vessel inlet; whereby when attached to a lorry based-concrete mixer, the apparatus is located relative to the mixing drum and relative to a stowed position of the discharge chute, wherein the apparatus is positioned to collect spillage from a loaded drum during travel between a loading site and a discharge site and to collect washdown material following discharge of the drum and wherein the apparatus is configured to contain any spillage and washdown material until the lorry based concrete mixer is at a suitable location to discharge contents of the vessel.
77. The vehicle-mounted apparatus of claim 76 wherein the line of sight between the vessel inlet and the vessel outlet is at an obtuse angle to the horizontal.
78. The vehicle-mounted apparatus of claim 76, wherein, when mounted on the lorry-based concrete mixer, the vessel extends across more than 50% of the width of a concrete mixer lorry.
79. The vehicle-mounted apparatus of claim 76, wherein the apparatus comprises an outlet member.
80. The vehicle-mounted apparatus of claim 79, wherein the outlet member is releasably attachable to the vessel outlet.
81. The vehicle-mounted apparatus of claim 79, further comprising a seal sandwiched between the outlet member and the vessel outlet.
82. The vehicle-mounted apparatus of claim 81, wherein the outlet member is closable.
83. The vehicle-mounted apparatus of claim 81, wherein the outlet member is closable by means of a cap.
84. The vehicle-mounted apparatus of claim 76, wherein the apparatus further includes a filter device.
85. The vehicle-mounted apparatus of claim 84, wherein the filter device is located adjacent the vessel inlet.
86. The vehicle-mounted apparatus of claim 84, wherein the filter device is removable.
87. The vehicle-mounted apparatus of claim 84, wherein the vessel inlet is removably attached to the vessel body and the filter device is removable from the vessel body upon removal of the vessel inlet.
