    Abstract

A mop cleaning cloth is made up of a plurality of micro-fiber material segments, each of the segments having lateral side portions which overlap side portions of adjacent material segments, the segments being secured to form a square, unitary material sheet. A piece of nylon mesh material is secured to one half of the material sheet to provide an additional cleaning element. An opening extends through the center of the material sheet to allow the handle of the mop or similar cleaning tool to extend therethrough, thus permitting the cleaning cloth to overlay a mop head for cleaning.

    Claims

    1. A mop cleaning cloth comprising: a plurality of micro-fiber material segments, each of the plurality of segments having at least two lateral side portions, said at least two of the side portions of each of the plurality of segments overlap said at least two side portions of another of the plurality of segments; attachment means for securing the overlapping side portions of the plurality of segments to form a single, unitary material sheet comprising the plurality of segments; a piece of mesh material secured to and over a section of the unitary material sheet; and an opening extending through the center of the unitary material sheet.

    2. The mop cleaning cloth as in claim 1 wherein the micro-fiber material segments comprise polyester and nylon.

    3. The mop cleaning cloth as in claim 1 wherein the piece of mesh material comprises an elastic, textiled, lined fiber mesh.

    4. The mop cleaning cloth as in claim 1 wherein the attachment means comprises a sewn connection utilizing high strength thread.

    5. The mop cleaning cloth as in claim 1 wherein the plurality of segments comprise four separate, adjacent material sheets forming the unitary material sheet as a square with the overlapping side sections forming a crisscross pattern within the square.

    6. The mop cleaning cloth as in claim 5 wherein the opening is located in the middle of the crisscross pattern.

    Description

    BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

[0007] FIG. 1 is a top view of the mop cleaning cloth of the present invention.

[0008] FIG. 2 is a bottom view of the mop cleaning cloth of the present invention.

[0009] FIG. 3 illustrates the position of the mop cleaning cloth of the present invention over the mop head of a mop.

    [0010] FIG. 4 is a cross-sectional view taken from FIG. 2.

    DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

[0011] Mop cleaning cloth 1 of the present invention comprises micro-fiber material segment 2, having lateral side portions 3 and 4, micro-fiber material segment 5 having lateral side portions 6 and 7, micro-fiber material segment 8 having lateral side portions 9 and 10, and micro-fiber material segment 11 having lateral side portions 12 and 13. As best seen in FIG. 1, side portion 3 of segment 2 overlaps side portion 6 of segment 5, side portion 4 of segment 2 overlaps side portion 13 of segment 11, side portion 12 of segment 11 overlaps side section 10 of segment 8, and side portion 9 of segment 8 overlaps side section 7 of segment 5.

[0012] Attachment means in the form of high strength thread provides sewn connections, e.g. shown in FIG. 1 at 14, for securing the overlapping side portions of the segments to form a single, square, unitary material sheet 20 comprising micro-fiber material segments 2, 5, 8, and 11. The overlapping side portions form a crisscross pattern over material sheet 20. Opening 26 is located in the middle of the overlapping side portions of the crisscross pattern, through the center of material sheet 20. Reinforced threaded stitching 30 is located around the circumference of opening 26.

[0013] As best seen in FIG. 2, a piece of nylon mesh material 22 is also secured by sewn connection using high strength thread, over the bottom of segments 5 and 8 of the unitary material sheet 20.

[0014] Micro-fiber material segments 2, 5, 8, and 11 comprise 65% biconstituent fiber, e.g. 79% polyester and 21% nylon. Nylon mesh 22 comprises an elastic textile, lined fiber mesh. The materials described herein are disclosed as examples of the type of materials which are contemplated for use in the mop cleaning cloth of the present invention. The invention is not to be considered restricted to these materials. Equivalent materials may be used.

[0015] In use, handle 42 of mop 40 is inserted through opening 26 of the mop cleaning cloth and the cloth is positioned over mop head 44, as best seen in FIG. 3. Once mop cleaning cloth 1 is positioned over mop head 44, the mop cleaning cloth can be used to clean a variety of surfaces.

[0016] Mop cleaning cloth 1 has great absorbency capacity and it will not leave lint. It absorbs soil and other debris within outer nylon mesh 22. The nylon mesh also provides friction, when needed, to remove stain or dirt which is adhered to a floor surface. Cleaning cloth 1 is reversible, will not scratch, and provides dual cleaning surfaces. It will not shrink when washed and can be washed at 95 F., which allows it to be hygienic.

[0017] Although specifically designed for a mop, cleaning cloth 1 of the present invention can easily be used with a broom or similar cleaning product with a handle.

[0018] Certain novel features and components of this invention are disclosed in detail in order to make the invention clear in at least one form thereof. However, it is to be clearly understood that the invention as disclosed is not necessarily limited to the exact form and details as disclosed, since it is apparent that various modifications and changes may be made without departing from the spirit of the invention.
