Abstract
There is a process for correcting a bone injury, an implant for correcting the bone injury and a kit for applying the implant for correcting the bone injury. The process can be made substantially uniform with the application of a standardized kit. In at least one application the process is for correcting a bunion on a patient. The process can include applying a first drill guide to a bone, and then a second drill guide. Once the drill guides have been applied and wires have been inserted into a bone, an implant can then be applied to correct a bone injury and to allow the bone injury to heal.
Claims
1. A kit for setting an implant comprising: a first drill guide comprising a first part and a second part, wherein, said first drill guide comprises a plurality of wire holes; a second drill guide comprising at least one wire hole and at least one screw hole; and an implant, comprising a plurality of wire holes and at least one screw hole, wherein said second part of said first drill guide has wings configured to receive at least one insert of the first part of the first drill guide, and said second part of said first drill guide has a raised ridge comprising a plurality of the plurality of wire holes of the first drill guide.
2. The kit of claim 1, wherein said at least one screw hole of said second drill guide comprises at least one raised screw hole.
3. The kit of claim 2, wherein said at least one raised screw hole extends at an angle transverse to a surface of said at least one wire holes on said second drill guide.
4. The kit of claim 1, wherein the implant comprises at least one plate, wherein said at least one plate comprises a substantially longitudinal extension, wherein the at least one plate has a first end section, a second end section and a middle section.
5. The kit of claim 4, wherein the at least one screw hole of the implant comprises a plurality of screw holes, and wherein the first end section of the implant comprises at least one screw hole of the plurality of screw holes of the implant and at least one wire hole of the plurality of wire holes of the implant, said second end section comprises at least one screw hole of the plurality of screw holes of the implant and at least one wire hole of the plurality of wire holes of the implant, and said middle section comprises at least one screw hole of the plurality of screw holes of the implant and at least one wire hole of the plurality of wire holes of the implant.
6. The kit of claim 5, wherein the plate further comprises a longitudinal axis extending substantially along the substantially longitudinal extension of the implant, and a latitudinal axis extending substantially along a lateral width of the implant, wherein the first end section, the second end section and the middle section are arranged along the longitudinal axis, and wherein said at least one screw hole and at least one wire hole of the first end section, the second end section and the middle section are longitudinally and laterally offset with respect to each other.
7. The kit of claim 5, wherein the first end section of the implant comprises a plurality of screw holes of the plurality of screw holes of the implant, the second end section comprises a plurality of screw holes of the plurality of screw holes of the implant and a plurality of wire holes of the plurality of wire holes of the implant, and said middle section comprises a plurality of screw holes of the plurality of screw holes of the implant.
8. The kit of claim 5, wherein the wire holes of the implant are configured to receive wires used to place the implant on a bone.
9. The kit of claim 1, wherein at least one screw hole of the at least one screw hole of the implant is raised above a top surface of the implant, and wherein at least one screw hole of the at least one screw hole of the implant is configured with a beveled opening.
10. The kit of claim 1, wherein the at least one screw hole of the implant comprises at least one threaded screw hole.
11. The kit of claim 1, wherein the at least one screw hole of the implant comprises at least one unthreaded screw hole.
12. The kit of claim 1, wherein the first part and the second part of the first drill guide each comprise a plurality of wire holes of the plurality of wire holes of the first drill guide.
13. The kit of claim 12, wherein the at least one wire hole of the second drill guide comprises a pair of wire holes, and the at least one screw hole of the second drill guide comprises a singular screw hole.
14. The kit of claim 1, wherein the plurality of wire holes of the first drill guide comprises a plurality of raised wire holes extending out transverse to a front surface of the first drill guide, and the at least one wire hole of the second drill guide comprises at least one raised wire hole extending out transverse to a front surface of the second drill guide.
15. The kit of claim 14, wherein the plurality of raised wire holes of the first drill guide comprises a plurality of substantially conical raised wire holes, and the at least one raised wire hole of the second drill guide comprises at least one substantially conical raised wire hole.
16. A kit for setting an implant comprising: a first drill guide comprising a first part and a second part, wherein said first drill guide comprises a plurality of wire holes; a second drill guide comprising at least one wire hole and at least one screw hole; and an implant, comprising a plurality of wire holes and at least one screw hole, wherein at least one screw hole of the at least one screw hole of the implant is raised above a top surface of the implant, wherein at least one screw hole of the at least one screw hole of the implant is configured with a beveled opening, and wherein the second part of said first drill guide is configured to receive at least one insert of the first part of the first drill guide to couple the first and second parts together, and said second part of said first drill guide has a raised ridge comprising a plurality of the plurality of wire holes of the first drill guide.
17. The kit of claim 16, wherein said second part of said first drill guide has wings configured to receive the at least one insert.
