    Description

    DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

[0014] With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to FIGS. 1 through 6 thereof, a new hair styling apparatus embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by the reference numeral 10 will be described.

[0015] As best illustrated in FIGS. 1 through 6, the hair styling assembly 10 generally comprises a brush 12 comprising a base 14 and a plurality of bristles 24. The base 14 has a pair of ends 16 and a pair of lateral surfaces 18 extending between the pair of ends 16. The base 14 also has a concave surface 22 and a convex surface 20 which are positioned opposite each other and extend between the pair of ends 16 and the pair of lateral surfaces 18. The concave surface 22 curves between the pair of ends 16, and the convex surface 20 curving between the pair of ends 16 and between the pair of lateral sides.

[0016] Each one of the plurality of bristles 24 is coupled to and extends away from the base 14 and terminates in a free end 26. The plurality of bristles 24 is positioned on the concave surface 22, and the free ends 26 of all of the plurality of bristles 24 form a contour. The free ends 26 of all of the plurality of bristles 24 are also equidistant from the concave surface 22. Each bristle 24 of the plurality of bristles 24 has a length from the base 14 to the free end 26 greater than a thickness of the base 14 between the concave surface 22 and the convex surface 20.

[0017] A cover 28 is removably coupled to the brush 12. The cover 28 bounds an interior space 30 in which the plurality of bristles 24 and a portion of the base 14 of the brush 12 are positioned. The cover 28 has an engagement wall 32 lying adjacent to the free ends 26 of the plurality of bristles 24. The engagement wall 32 comprises a flexible material wherein the engagement wall 32 conforms to the contour formed by the free ends 26 of the plurality of bristles 24. The cover 28 has a perimeter wall 34 which is coupled to and extends away from the engagement wall 32. The engagement wall 32 and the perimeter wall 34 form a unitary structure. A distal edge 36 of the perimeter wall 34 defines an aperture 38 to the interior space 30. Each one of a pair of diametrically opposed portions 40 of the distal edge 36 extends over the convex surface 20 of the base 14 adjacent to an associated one of the pair of ends 16 of the base 14. Each one of a pair of lateral portions 42 of the distal edge 36 extends between the pair of diametrically opposed portions 40 and along an associated one of the pair of lateral surfaces 18 of the base 14.

[0018] A band 44 is coupled to and extending along the distal edge 36 of the perimeter wall 34 of the cover 28. The band 44 comprising a resiliently elastic material wherein the band 44 resiliently stretches to receive the brush 12 through the aperture 38.

[0019] In use, the engagement wall 32 of the cover 28 is swept against a plurality of curly hairs 50 on a scalp 48 of an individual 46 to urge the plurality of curly hairs 50 to lie adjacent to the scalp 48 of the individual 46 and to extend in a direction of sweeping of the engagement wall 32 of the cover 28. To achieve the wave hairstyle 52, a curvature of each curly hair 50 of said plurality of curly hairs 50 is decreased but not entirely eliminated such that the plurality of curly hairs 50 forms a wave pattern along the direction of sweeping. The hair styling assembly 10 may also be used to sweep hair without forming the wave hairstyle 52.

[0020] With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.

[0021] Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word comprising is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article a does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
