    Abstract

A fire pit is provided that includes a pair of spaced apart inner and outer vertical concentric walls providing a circular air passageway therebetween. Air is blown into the circular air passageway to flow in one circular direction to spaced outlet openings connected to conduits for feeding heated air to outwardly spaced registers around the fire pit. Flammable material in the chamber of the fire pit produces heated air transmitted through the inner metal wall into the air passageway which is then distributed to outlet openings connected to conduits extending to outwardly spaced registers.

    Claims

    1. A fire pit comprising: a pair of spaced apart inner and outer vertical concentric walls providing a circular air passageway therebetween; a horizontal wall over said air passageway; an air inlet opening through said outer wall into said air passageway; an air outlet opening through said outer wall into said air passageway; a fan means connected to said air inlet opening for feeding air into and through said passageway in one circular direction for discharge outwardly through said air outlet opening; and said inner vertical circular wall providing a center positioned chamber adapted to receive flammable material for heating air in said circular air passageway.

    2. The fire pit of claim 1 and a conduit is connected to said air outlet opening for supplying heated air to a remote location.

    3. The fire pit of claim 2 wherein said outlet opening and connected conduit are one of several said outlet openings and connected conduits for supplying heated air to several remote locations.

    4. The fire pit of claim 3 wherein ground material covers said conduits and said horizontal wall over said air passageway leaving openings at the outer ends of said conduits.

    5. The fire pit of claim 4 wherein said fan means is positioned above said ground material.

    6. The fire pit of claim 6 wherein said fan means is an electrical blower.

    7. The fire pit of claim 6 wherein a screen is provided over the outer end of each of said conduits.

    8. The fire pit of claim 7 wherein said screen over the end of each said conduits is at a top surface of said ground material.

    9. The fire pit of claim 8 wherein said outer ends of each of said conduits are spaced outwardly concentrically around said outer vertical wall.

    10. The fire pit of claim 9 wherein the circular air passageway opposite said horizontal wall over said air passageway is closed by ground material.

    BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

[0009] FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a fire pit installed in the ground with registers provided radially and circumferencely around the fire pit.

[0010] FIG. 2 is a perspective view of the installed fire pit with the underground components being shown in dash lines.

[0011] FIG. 3 is a perspective view of the double wall fire pit including a pair of spaced apart inner and outer vertical concentric walls providing a circular air passageway therebetween.

[0012] FIG. 4 is a cross sectional view taken along line 4-4 in FIG. 2 showing air being provided into the circular air passageway and heated air from the passageway being distributed to ground surface mounted registers spaced radially out from the double wall fire pit.

[0013] Various embodiments of the invention will be described in detail with reference to the drawings, where like reference numerals represent like parts throughout the several views. Reference to various embodiments does not limit the scope of the invention. Figures represented herein are not limitations to the various embodiments according to the invention and are presented for exemplary illustration of the invention.

    DETAILED DESCRIPTION

[0014] The double wall fire pit 10 shown in FIG. 2 includes an inner wall 12 and an outer wall 14 as seen in FIG. 3 which provides an air passageway 16 therebetween. A horizontal top wall 18 is provided over the top of the inner wall 12 and outer wall 14. The lower side of the air passageway 16 is open but closed by the ground when installed as seen in FIG. 2.

[0015] An air inlet opening 20 is provided in the outer wall 14 and receives a pipe 22 having an inner end 24 inside the air passageway 16 and an outer end 26 extending outwardly and above ground for connection to a fan 28. An electrical power cord 30 is provided for operating the fan 28.

[0016] A chamber 32 is provided inside the fire pit to receive flammable materials such as firewood (not shown). The heat from the flammable material when burning is transmitted through the metal inner wall 12 to the air passageway 16 which is circulating air as indicated by the arrows 34 inside the air passageway.

[0017] Air outlet openings 36 are positioned around and through the outer wall 14 to distribute heated air through conduits 38 to registers 40 facing upwardly and providing heated air 42. Ground material 44 is provided over the conduits 38 to provide a finished look surrounding the fire pit 10. The top wall 18 is coplanar with the ground material 44.
