Abstract
A method of making a breathable and windproof vamp includes: (a) providing outer and inner fabric layers; (b) forming a breathable and windproof resin layer on one of the outer fabric layer and the inner fabric layer; (c) dispensing a plurality of spaced-apart glue dots on the resin layer or on the other one of the outer fabric layer and the inner fabric layer; (d) connecting the inner and outer fabric layers in such a manner that the glue dots and the resin layer are interposed between the inner and outer fabric layers, and the inner and outer fabric layers are adhered with each other through the spaced-apart glue dots so as to obtain a fabric laminate; and (e) cutting and forming the fabric laminate into a vamp.
Claims
1. A method of making a breathable and windproof vamp (6) for a shoe, comprising: (a) providing an outer fabric layer and an inner fabric layer, each of the outer fabric layer and the inner fabric layer having a top surface and a bottom surface that is opposite to the top surface; (b) forming a breathable and windproof resin layer on one of the bottom surface of the outer fabric layer and the top surface of the inner fabric layer; (c) dispensing a plurality of spaced-apart glue dots on the resin layer or on the other one of the bottom surface of the outer fabric layer and the top surface of the inner fabric layer; (d) connecting the inner fabric layer and the outer fabric layer in such a manner that the glue dots and the breathable and windproof resin layer are interposed between the inner fabric layer and the outer fabric layer, and the inner fabric layer and the outer fabric layer are adhered with each other through the spaced-apart glue dots so as to obtain a breathable and windproof fabric laminate; and (e) cutting and forming the breathable and windproof fabric laminate into a vamp that is formed with a receiving space for receiving a user's foot.
2. The method of claim 1, wherein in the breathable and windproof fabric laminate, an area of the spaced-apart glue dots ranges from 40% to 80% based on an area of the resin layer.
3. The method of claim 1, wherein the breathable and windproof resin layer includes polyurethane resin.
4. The method of claim 1, wherein step (b) is conducted by coating a resin material on one of the bottom surface of the outer fabric layer and the top surface of the inner fabric layer to form a coating layer, and drying the coating layer.
5. The method of claim 4, wherein the resin material includes polyurethane resin.
6. The method of claim 4, wherein the coating layer is dried at a temperature ranging from 50 C. to 180 C. for 1 minute to 5 minutes.
7. The method of claim 1, wherein the glue dots include polyurethane reactive hot melt adhesive.
8. The method of claim 1, wherein the top surface of the outer fabric layer in step (a) is subjected to a water repellent treatment.
9. The method of claim 1, wherein the resin layer has an air permeability ranging from 0.1 CFM (ft.sup.3/min) to 10 CFM (ft.sup.3/min).
10. The method of claim 1, wherein the resin layer has a thickness ranging from 10 m to 50 m.
11. A method for making a breathable and windproof shoe, comprising: preparing a breathable and windproof vamp according to the method of claim 1; and disposing a shoe tree in the receiving space of the vamp for maintaining a configuration of the vamp; attaching a shoe sole to a bottom of the vamp; and removing the shoe tree from the receiving space.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION
[0028] Before the disclosure is described in greater detail, it should be noted that where considered appropriate, reference numerals or terminal portions of reference numerals have been repeated among the figures to indicate corresponding or analogous elements, which may optionally have similar characteristics.
[0029]
[0030] Referring to
[0031] Referring to
[0032] In certain embodiments, the resin layer 30 has an air permeability ranging from 0.1 CFM (ft.sup.3/min) to 10 CFM (ft.sup.3/min). Within this range, the breathable and windproof resin layer 30 has a better balance between the breathable and windproof effects. In certain embodiments, the resin layer 30 has an air permeability ranging from 0.5 CFM (ft.sup.3/min) to 5 CFM (ft.sup.3/min).
[0033] Referring to
[0034] Referring to
[0035] Referring to
[0036] The disclosure also provides an embodiment of a method of making a shoe. The method includes preparing the abovementioned breathable and windproof vamp 6, disposing a shoe tree 7 in the receiving space 60 of the vamp 6 for maintaining a configuration of the vamp 6 (see
[0037] It should be noted that, if the outer fabric layer 1 is made from a fabric having relatively large pore size, it would be difficult to form the breathable and windproof resin layer 30 on the bottom surface 12 of the outer fabric layer 1. Thus, the breathable and windproof resin layer 30 can be formed on the top surface of the inner fabric layer 2. The spaced-apart glue dots 5 may be dispensed on the bottom surface 12 of the outer fabric layer 1.
[0038] In certain embodiments, the top surface 11 of the outer fabric layer 1 in step (a) is subjected to a water repellent treatment to improve the waterproof property of the vamp 6.
[0039] In summary, with the breathable and windproof resin layer 30 and the spaced-apart glue dots 5, the vamp 6 of the shoe of this disclosure is lightweight, breathable and windproof.
[0040] In the description above, for the purposes of explanation, numerous specific details have been set forth in order to provide a thorough understanding of the embodiment(s).
