Description
(i) BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF SEVERAL VIEWS OF THE DRAWING(S)
[0011] The disclosure will be better understood and objects other than those set forth above will become apparent when consideration is given to the following detailed description thereof. Such description makes reference to the annexed drawings wherein:

(j) DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
[0019] With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to
[0020] As best illustrated in
[0021] The ballistic plate 20 has a front surface 26, a back surface 28 and a perimeter edge 30 extending between the front surface 26 and the back surface 28, and the perimeter edge 30 has a top side 32, a bottom side 34, a first lateral side 36 and a second lateral side 38. Each of the first lateral side 36 and the second lateral side 38 has an angled portion 40 and a straight portion 42. The angled portion 40 angles outwardly between the top side 32 and the straight portion 42 of the first lateral side 36 and the second lateral side 38. The straight portion 42 of each of the first lateral side 36 and the second lateral side 38 extends between the angled portion 40 and the bottom side 34.
[0022] The concave section 22 extends between the straight portion 42 of each of the first lateral side 36 and the second lateral side 38. The concave section 22 curves forwardly with respect to the front surface 26. Additionally, the concave section 22 is aligned with an intersection between the angled portion 40 and the straight portion 42 of each of the first lateral side 36 and the second lateral side 38. The ballistic plate 20 is insertable into the ballistic vest 12 such that the front surface 26 of the ballistic plate 20 rests against an inside surface 44 of the front side 16 of the ballistic vest 12.
[0023] In use, the ballistic plate 20 is worn beneath the ballistic vest 12 such that the concave section 22 curves away from the female user's chest 18 to accommodate the female's breasts 24. In this way the female user 14 does not experience the discomfort of breast compression as is common with existing ballistic plates. Additionally, the female user 14 can breathe more fully and has greater range of motion as compared to existing ballistic plates. The ballistic plate 20 can be employed in conjunction with any design or style of ballistic vest that is commonly employed by military or police.
[0024] With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
[0025] Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
