Such embodiments that save CNC cut time in such tasks as edge profiling (where CNC time capacity is a large bottleneck in pre-fabrication currently), visual grade, fire properties, acoustic properties.
[0081] An inventory module also retains portions of panels that are left after a part is cut from them for a project, where the inventory information includes the dimensions of the remaining shape along with the original properties.
[0082] Disclosed embodiments include an inventory module and storage system where the number of distinct panel types with varying combinations of panel properties can excel the number of storage bays or storage bins, and the system optimizes the storage locations and retrieval of inventory based on the frequency of use, and forward looking project needs.
[0083] Inventory databases, rules or modules may include an inventory system having an inventory of a large number of properties that are chosen from, the CNC stage of the process also has the capability to revise the base properties of the panel, where this would reduce storage locations and retrieval time of specific panel types, reduce waste from cutting down stock lengths of panels, eliminate time anticipating future inventory requirements:
[0084] A. Can take a continual length of end jointed panels and use a sawing operation to cut panels to the length needed for the part;
[0085] B. Can have a tenoner operation that adds specific profiles to the edges and ends of the panel to match the part (which saves time over CNC cutting these profiles).
[0086] C. Can add fastener patterns that match pre-designated profiles, without having to use a CNC controlled printhead, which saves time.
[0087] D. Can add defect filling and patching if the part requires a certain surface quality.
[0088] E. Can add coatings to panels that need to have specific coatings, like fire coatings, coatings that add ease of painting (like primers or paper coatings), weather resistive barriers, vapor barriers.
[0089] F. Moreover, the inventory databases and/or inventory control modules may, 1) receive input of locations of existing inventory, command a robot or direct other means of transport of needed existing inventory for cutting, processing or assembly; 2) create or modify a product or component that is already partially or fully assembled with additional properties or attributes by the addition different input materials and/or cutting of the work in progress.
[0090] A panel or other object being constructed by a CNC cutter/printer or other assembly or cutting, or printing system may be referred to as a “work piece.” The disclosed embodiments include production runs of panels and other end products. During a production, a work in progress or work piece may be modified on the fly or as part of a preplanned production run. Such a modification of a work piece may include adding length to a panel, adding paper pieces or other modifications. Such modifications may be implemented by commutation and commands and material transport by the inventory control module, computer system, robotic system or other means of transport.
[0091] Furthermore, the inventory control module may be in communication with the computer system with the computer system receiving input to modify a work piece already constructed or in a CNC cutter/printer or other assembly or cutting or printing system. Thus, during an assembly or construction run of panels or other components, the inventory control module may cause different input materials to be added or subtracted from a panel or other workpiece. For example, a panel may be in the process of construction, and a last-minute change order may occur wherein a sheathing of paper or other modification is needed. Moreover, different variables to a work piece may be seamlessly added as the disclosed systems provide needed materials to the CNC cutter/printer or other assembly system.
[0092] An input of framing rules 220 may comprise data pertaining to building codes, design and engineering construction and part lists. A framing design and plan 240 may be produced and result in preliminary plan output pertaining to a preliminary framing map 410.
