    Abstract

A de-escalation spray that is an alternative to traditional pepper spray. Law enforcement carries traditional pepper spray or tear gas. However, the present de-escalation spray only affects the intended target, does not cause respiratory distress, is water soluble, and easily cleans up.

    Claims

    1. A de-escalation spray composition comprising of acetic acid, citric acid, ammonium hydroxide buffer, and water.

    2. The de-escalation spray composition comprising of acetic acid, citric acid, ammonium hydroxide buffer, and water as in claim 1, wherein the acetic acid concentration is under 20%.

    3. The de-escalation spray composition comprising of acetic acid, citric acid, ammonium hydroxide buffer, and water as in claim 1, wherein the citric acid concentration is under 8%.

    4. The de-escalation spray composition comprising of acetic acid, citric acid, ammonium hydroxide buffer, and water as in claim 1, wherein the ammonium hydroxide buffer concentration is under 1%.

    5. The de-escalation spray composition comprising of acetic acid, citric acid, ammonium hydroxide buffer, and water as in claim 1, wherein the composition comprises of at least 71% water.

    6. A method of making the de-escalation spray composition comprising of acetic acid, citric acid, ammonium hydroxide buffer, and water.

    7. The method of making the de-escalation spray composition comprising of acetic acid, citric acid, ammonium hydroxide buffer, and water as in claim 6, wherein the acetic acid concentration is under 20%.

    8. The method of making the de-escalation spray composition comprising of acetic acid, citric acid, ammonium hydroxide buffer, and water as in claim 6, wherein the citric acid concentration is under 8%.

    9. The method of making the de-escalation spray composition comprising of acetic acid, citric acid, ammonium hydroxide buffer, and water as in claim 6, wherein the ammonium hydroxide buffer concentration is under 1%.

    10. The method of making the de-escalation spray composition comprising of acetic acid, citric acid, ammonium hydroxide buffer, and water as in claim 6, wherein the composition comprises of at least 71% water.

    11. A method of using the de-escalation spray composition comprising of acetic acid, citric acid, ammonium hydroxide buffer, and water.

    12. The method of using the de-escalation spray composition comprising of acetic acid, citric acid, ammonium hydroxide buffer, and water as in claim 11, wherein the acetic acid concentration is under 20%.

    13. The method of using the de-escalation spray composition comprising of acetic acid, citric acid, ammonium hydroxide buffer, and water as in claim 11, wherein the citric acid concentration is under 8%.

    14. The method of using the de-escalation spray composition comprising of acetic acid, citric acid, ammonium hydroxide buffer, and water as in claim 11, wherein the ammonium hydroxide buffer concentration is under 1%.

    15. The method of using the de-escalation spray composition comprising of acetic acid, citric acid, ammonium hydroxide buffer, and water as in claim 11, wherein the composition comprises of at least 71% water.
