    Description

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF SEVERAL VIEWS OF THE DRAWING(S)

[0012] The disclosure will be better understood and objects other than those set forth above will become apparent when consideration is given to the following detailed description thereof. Such description makes reference to the annexed drawings wherein:

[0013] FIG. 1 is a front perspective view of a salon cape apparatus according to an embodiment of the disclosure.

[0014] FIG. 2 is a rear perspective view of an embodiment of the disclosure.

[0015] FIG. 3 is a rear view of an embodiment of the disclosure.

[0016] FIG. 4 is an in-use view of an embodiment of the disclosure.

    DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

[0017] With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to FIGS. 1 through 4 thereof, a new salon cape embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by the reference numeral 10 will be described.

[0018] As best illustrated in FIGS. 1 through 4, the salon cape apparatus 10 generally comprises a sheet 12 which is flexible and translucent throughout such that the sheet 12 is configured for facilitating viewing objects through the sheet 12. The sheet 12 comprises vinyl 14, but may comprise acrylic, polystyrene, or the like. The sheet 12 has a first edge 16 and a second edge 18 and has a first lateral edge 20 and a second lateral edge 22 each extending between the first edge 16 and the second edge 18. The sheet 12 has a hole 24 extending therethrough which is shaped such that the hole 24 is configured for extending around a neck 28 of a user 26. The hole 24 is centered between the first lateral edge 20 and the second lateral edge 22 and is positioned closer to the first edge 16 than to the second edge 18. The sheet 12 has a slit 30 extending from the hole 24 to the first edge 16.

[0019] A rim 32 is coupled to the sheet 12 and extends along each of an outer edge 34 of the sheet 12, a first edge 38 of the slit 30, a second edge 40 of the slit 30, and a perimeter edge 36 of the hole 24. The rim 32 is flexible and may comprise a woven fabric, a plastic sheet, or the like. The rim 32 is visually distinct from the sheet 12 to facilitate identifying the locations of the outer edge 34 of the sheet 12, the first and second edges 38, 40 of the slit 30, and the perimeter edge 36 of the hole 24. The rim 32 is also opaque.

[0020] A closure 42 is coupled to the sheet 12 for releasably preventing the slit 30 from opening. The closure 42 comprises a first mating member 44 and a second mating member 46. The first mating member 44 is coupled to the sheet 12 adjacent to the first edge 38 of the slit 30, and the second mating member 46 is coupled to the sheet 12 adjacent to the second edge 40 of the slit 30. The closure 42 comprises a plurality of snap buttons 48 which is distributed along the slit 30, but the closure 42 may comprise a zipper, hook-and-loop fastener, or the like.

[0021] In use, the user 26 wears the salon cape apparatus 10 such that the hole 24 extends around the neck 28 of the user 26, and the closure 42 is secured closed to keep the slit 30 from opening and retaining the salon cape apparatus 10 on the user 26. The sheet 12 prevents cut pieces of hair, spilled hair treatment fluids, and the like from falling onto the user's 26 body 50 while facilitating the user 26 to view a handheld device 52 such as a phone, a video game console, a tablet, a book, or the like through the sheet 12.

[0022] With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.

[0023] Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word comprising is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article a does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
