    Abstract

A new and distinct cultivar of Papaver plant named HG01 is disclosed, characterized by large, red flowers with short, strong stems, and leaves that stay green while flowering. Plants are compact, and disease-resistant. The new variety is a Papaver, normally produced as a cut flower and potentially useful as an ornamental plant.

    Claims

    1. A new and distinct cultivar of Papaver plant named HG01 as herein illustrated and described.

    Description

    BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE PHOTOGRAPHS

    (1) The accompanying photograph in FIG. 1 illustrates in full color a typical flowering plant of the new variety at approximately 7 months old, grown outdoors during the spring in Waddinxveen, the Netherlands.

    (2) FIG. 2 illustrates a close-up view of the flower.

    (3) FIG. 3 illustrates a flower beginning to open; the strong red color of the under petal can be seen.

    (4) The photographs were taken using conventional techniques and although colors may appear different from actual colors due to light reflectance it is as accurate as possible by conventional photographic techniques.

    DETAILED BOTANICAL DESCRIPTION

    (5) In the following description, color references are made to The Royal Horticultural Society Colour Chart 6.sup.th edition, except where general terms of ordinary dictionary significance are used.
