    DETAILED DESCRIPTION

[0016] Referring now to FIG. 1, there is shown a perspective view of the disposable mascara shield 10. The mascara shield includes a top portion 12. In this embodiment, the top portion 12 has a flat edge to enable the user to comfortably hold the mascara shield 10 with one hand. The mascara shield 10 also includes a double rounded bottom portion 14. The double rounded bottom portion 14 forms a concave shape 15 to be fitted over a user's eyelid. The top portion 12 and the double rounded bottom portion 14 of the mascara shield 10 are connected by two curved edges 16, 18 and form the boundary of the mascara shield 10. The mascara shield includes a front surface 20 and a back surface (not shown). FIG. 2 is a left front view of the disposable mascara shield. FIG. 3 is a view of the mascara shield from the top and FIG. 4 is a view of the mascara shield from the bottom.

[0017] Referring now to FIG. 5, the mascara shield 10 is shown being placed over a user's eyelid. The concave shape of the double rounded bottom portion 14 is placed over the user's eyelid. The back surface of the mascara shield 10 is in contact with the user's eyelid. The mascara shield 10 is preferably made of a paper material. Using paper material reduces manufacturing costs and is preferable for single use and is easily disposable and environmentally friendly.

[0018] It is also preferable that the mascara shield 10 made from paper material have a sufficient thickness such that when the mascara shield 10 is pressed against the user's eyelid the back surface is strong enough to maintain its shape to allow for the user to apply mascara to the user's eyelashes. The thickness of the paper material for the disposable mascara shield 10 is preferably within a range of 0.45 mm to 0.60 mm. This range of thickness enables the mascara shield 10 to be pressed against the user's eyelid and maintain its shape while also being sufficiently pliable to adjust the double rounded bottom portion 14 to adjust for comfort to a particular user's contours around the eyelid area.

[0019] Referring now to FIG. 6, a mascara applicator 30 applies mascara to eyelashes of a user. The disposable mascara shield 10 is positioned such that the back surface is placed on the user's eyelid so that when the mascara applicator applies mascara to the eyelashes, the disposable mascara shield 10 is able to absorb any cosmetic fall out or overspill. The double rounded bottom portion 14 is also adjustable by the user by simply bending the rounded portions to better fit the contours around the user's eyelid.

[0020] In order to make the disposable mascara shield/scraper, one cuts a template of flexible material into a shape that conforms to the contours of the eyelid area where the eyelashes meet the eyelid. The template includes an edge that when held behind the eyelash area on the eyelid, the disposable mascara shield screens adjacent skin surface areas.
