Abstract
Example embodiments relate to luminaire heads with interconnecting interfaces. One example luminaire head including an interconnected interface for an electronic device includes a support layer and a cover layer arranged over the support layer. The support layer includes a plurality of electrical tracks arranged on a surface of the support layer and connectable to a power supply of the luminaire head. The support layer also includes a first electrical connector. The first electrical connector is connected to at least one of the plurality of electrical tracks and is suited for connecting to the electronic device. Further, the support layer includes a second electrical connector. The second electrical connector is directly connected to the first electrical connector via the at least one of the plurality of electrical tracks. An upper surface of the cover layer includes a first opening and at least one retaining means.

Luminaire head comprising an interconnecting interface for an electronic device, said interconnecting interface comprising: a support layer comprising: a plurality of electrical tracks arranged on a surface of the support layer and connectable to a power supply of the luminaire head; a first electrical connector, said first electrical connector being connected to at least one of the plurality of electrical tracks and being suited for connecting to the electronic device; and a second electrical connector, said second electrical connector being directly connected to the first electrical connector via the at least one of the plurality of electrical tracks; and a cover layer arranged over the support layer, wherein an upper surface of the cover layer comprises a first opening forming passage for the first electrical connector and at least one retaining means configured for retaining in a removable manner the electronic device in electrical contact with the first electrical connector through the first opening.

The luminaire head according to claim 24, further comprising a luminaire head housing, wherein the support layer is arranged on the luminaire head housing, and preferably, wherein the electronic device, when connected to the first electrical connector, is removable from within the luminaire head housing.
26. The luminaire head according to claim 25, wherein the support layer and a portion of the luminaire head housing are molded in one piece, and preferably, wherein the portion of the luminaire head housing is an external wall of the luminaire head housing.
27. The luminaire head according to claim 24, wherein the at least one retaining means and the cover layer are molded in one piece.
28. The luminaire head according to claim 24, wherein the at least one retaining means is a mechanical retaining means, preferably a snap-fit retaining means.
29. The luminaire head according to claim 24, wherein the support layer and the cover layer are molded in one piece.
30. The luminaire head according to claim 24, wherein the support layer is at least 10 cm×10 cm, preferably at least 15 cm×15 cm, more preferably at least 15 cm×30 cm.

The luminaire head according to claim 24, wherein the electronic device is one of: a driver, a sensing means, a processing means, a transmission means, a communication means, a metering device, an electrical protection means, a filtering unit, a surge protection device, a fuse, a varistor, a control module, or other active or passive electronic components.
32. The luminaire head according to claim 24, further comprising the electronic device provided to the interconnecting interface and supported by the cover layer or the support layer, and, preferably, wherein the electronic device is embedded in a packaging.
33. The luminaire head according to claim 24, wherein the cover layer is in contact with the plurality of electrical tracks, or wherein the cover layer is at a distance of less than 5 mm, preferably less than 3 mm, more preferably less than 1 mm from the plurality of electrical tracks.

The luminaire head according to claim 24, wherein the upper surface of the cover layer comprises a guiding means surrounding the first opening and configured for guiding the connection of the electronic device with the first electrical connector through the first opening, and, preferably, wherein the guiding means is configured for engaging the packaging of the electronic device.
35. The luminaire head according to claim 29, wherein the plurality of electrical tracks is submerged in one piece consisting of the cover layer and the support layer.
36. The luminaire head according to claim 24, wherein the upper surface of the cover layer comprises a second opening forming passage for the second electrical connector.
37. The luminaire head according to claim 24, further comprising a light module electrically connected to the interconnecting interface, and preferably, wherein the light module comprises a LED array provided to the support layer or the cover layer.
38. The luminaire head according to claim 24, wherein the second electrical connector is suited for connecting to another electronic device.

The luminaire head according to claim 24, wherein the support layer further comprises a third electrical connector, said third electrical connector being connected to at least one of the plurality of electrical tracks, and preferably further comprises a fourth electrical connector, said fourth electrical connector being connected to at least one of the plurality of electrical tracks, and more preferably further comprises a fifth electrical connector, said fifth electrical connector being connected to at least one of the plurality of electrical tracks.
40. The luminaire head according to claim 39, wherein the first electrical connector is connected to a driver, and, optionally, wherein the second electrical connector is connected to a light module, wherein the third electrical connector is connected to a sensing means, wherein the fourth electrical connector is connected to a surge protection device, and wherein the fifth electrical connector is connected to a controller socket.
41. The luminaire head according to claim 24, wherein one or more structural elements, such as a cable organizer, are molded in one piece with the cover layer.
42. Luminaire head comprising an interconnecting interface for an electronic device, said interconnecting interface comprising: a support layer comprising: a plurality of electrical tracks arranged on a surface of the support layer and connectable to a power supply of the luminaire head; a first electrical connector, said first electrical connector being connected to at least one of the plurality of electrical tracks and being suited for connecting to the electronic device; and a second electrical connector, said second electrical connector being directly connected to the first electrical connector via the at least one of the plurality of electrical tracks; a cover layer arranged over the support layer; and a luminaire head housing, wherein the support layer is arranged on the luminaire head housing, wherein the support layer and a portion of the luminaire head housing are molded in one piece, and wherein an upper surface of the cover layer comprises a first opening forming passage for the first electrical connector and at least one retaining means configured for retaining in a removable manner the electronic device in electrical contact with the first electrical connector through the first opening.

Luminaire head comprising an interconnecting interface for an electronic device, said interconnecting interface comprising: a support layer comprising: a plurality of electrical tracks arranged on a surface of the support layer and connectable to a power supply of the luminaire head; a first electrical connector, said first electrical connector being connected to at least one of the plurality of electrical tracks and being suited for connecting to the electronic device; and a second electrical connector, said second electrical connector being directly connected to the first electrical connector via the at least one of the plurality of electrical tracks; and a cover layer arranged over the support layer, wherein an upper surface of the cover layer comprises a first opening forming passage for the first electrical connector and at least one retaining means configured for retaining in a removable manner the electronic device in electrical contact with the first electrical connector through the first opening, and wherein the cover layer is in contact with the plurality of electrical tracks or the cover layer is at a distance of less than 5 mm, preferably less than 3 mm, more preferably less than 1 mm from the plurality of electrical tracks.

[0065] The support layer 110 comprises a plurality of electrical tracks 111 arranged on a surface of the support layer 110. The plurality of electrical tracks 111 may be made out of an electrically conducting material, e.g. metal. The plurality of electrical tracks 111 may be provided via chemical etching, evaporation, deposition, injection, molding, gluing or other appropriate methods. In some embodiments, the tracks may be arranged in a similar way as on a PCB. However, in other embodiments, the tracks may be cut out of, e.g. punched of a metal sheet and have a thickness between 0.25 mm and 1 mm, e g between 0.35 mm and 0.70 mm. The plurality of electrical tracks 111 are connectable to a power supply (not shown) of the luminaire head, e.g. battery, mains. The skilled person will understand that the plurality of electrical tracks 111 and the power supply may be electrically connected via any known means, e.g. soldering to electrical pads, via a dedicated electronic connector, etc.

This surface portion of the luminaire head may be located within a luminaire head housing 300 or outside of the luminaire head housing 300. The support layer 110 may be fixed to the luminaire head housing 300 via various fixation means. In an embodiment, the surface portion of the luminaire head may be made of an electrically-conductive material, and there may be an electrical insulation layer between the support layer 110 and the surface portion of the luminaire head.
