DETAILED DESCRIPTION
[0032] The following is a detailed description of embodiments of the disclosure depicted in the accompanying drawings. The embodiments are in such details as to clearly communicate the disclosure. However, the amount of detail offered is not intended to limit the anticipated variations of embodiments; on the contrary, the intention is to cover all modifications, equivalents, and alternatives falling within the spirit and scope of the present disclosure as defined by the appended claims.
[0033] If the specification states a component or feature may, can, could, or might be included or have a characteristic, that particular component or feature is not required to be included or have the characteristic.
[0034] Exemplary embodiments will now be described more fully hereinafter with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which exemplary embodiments are shown. This disclosure may however, be embodied in many different forms and should not be construed as limited to the embodiments set forth herein. These embodiments are provided so that this disclosure will be thorough and complete and will fully convey the scope of the disclosure to those of ordinary skill in the art. Moreover, all statements herein reciting embodiments of the disclosure, as well as specific examples thereof, are intended to encompass both structural and functional equivalents thereof. Additionally, it is intended that such equivalents include both currently known equivalents as well as equivalents developed in the future (i.e., any elements developed that perform the same function, regardless of structure).
[0035] Various terms as used herein. To the extent a term used in a claim is not defined below, it should be given the broadest definition persons in the pertinent art have given that term as reflected in printed publications and issued patents at the time of filing.
[0036] Embodiments explained herein relate to a cooking pot that can be configured for pressure cooking or frying using microwaves as a source of heat. In addition, the cooking pot also includes other heating means, such as any of a hot plate, an electric heating coil and a flame stove. The at least one of a hot plate, an electric heating coil and a flame stove may be located below a pan of the cooking pot to provide a direct heating to the pan, and a microwaves generating device, to provide microwaves, may be located remote from the pan. The cooking pot can include a microwave guide to direct the microwaves from the microwaves generating device to the pan.
[0037] In an embodiment, the pan is accommodated in a housing of the cooking pot such that the pan is accessible from a top side of the housing, and a lid of the cooking pot closes over the top side of the housing such that an enclosure is created above an open end of the pan. The housing of the cooking pot includes a window located in the enclosure that allows the microwaves from the microwave guide to enter the enclosure and enable heating of contents of the pan.
[0038] In an embodiment, the proposed cooking pot can be configured for pressure cooking by configuring the lid to create an airtight enclosure above the pan. In which case, the window can include a microwave transparent material that is capable of withstanding pressure in the airtight enclosure during the pressure cooking.
[0039] In an alternate embodiment, the proposed cooking pot can be configured for frying. In which case the pan can be configured to hold oil, and the oil can be heated by any or a combination of the remotely located microwave generating device and the other heat source located below the pan.
[0040] In an embodiment, the cooking pot also includes a sensing mechanism to sense proper closing of the lid to ensure that microwaves reaching the enclosure do not leak out. The sensing mechanism includes a plurality of retractable plungers, such as pogo pins, provided on inner side walls of the housing such that when the lid is closed, the plungers come in contact with the lid to detect if a gap between the lid and the side walls of the enclosure is less than a predefined gap value.
[0041] Referring now to
[0042] As shown in
[0043] The housing 122 further includes a user interface comprising a control display 114 and one or more knobs 118 located on a front side of the housing 122, one or more ventilation slits 120 located on sides of the housing 122 and a pair of lifting grips 108 located on opposite sides of the housing 122.
[0044] As shown in
[0045] Referring to
[0046] The one or more heating devices can also include at least one of a hot plate, an electric heating coil and a flame stove, wherein the at least one of a hot plate, an electric heating coil and a flame stove is located below the pan 112 to provide a direct heating to the pan 112. In the exemplary embodiment shown in
[0047] The cooking pot 100 can also include a sensing mechanism to sense proper closing of the lid 102 to ensure that microwaves reaching the enclosure 124 do not leak out. The sensing mechanism can be based on a plurality of retractable plungers, such as pogo pins 212, provided on inner side walls of the housing such that when the lid 102 is closed, the pogo pins 212 come in contact with the lid 102 to detect if a gap between the lid 102 and the side walls of the housing 122 is less than a predefined gap value. The predefined gap value can relate to maximum gap allowed between the lid 102 and the inner sides of the housing 122 for efficient functioning of the choke 106.
[0048] The pogo pins 212 can be biased outward and configured to linearly move inward on coming in contact with the lid 102 as the lid is closed over the housing 122. The pogo pins 212 can be electrically connected such that the connection is completed when the pogo pins 212 make contact with the lid 102, and wherein the completion of the connection is used as a confirmation that the lid is properly closed over the housing 122.
[0049] In an embodiment, the cooking pot 100 can include a control circuit configured to switch the microwave generating device 202 ON only after the connection of all the pogo pins 212 is completed.
[0050] Referring to
[0051] In an embodiment, the disclosed cooking pot 100 can be configured for pressure cooking. To enable pressure cooking, the lid 102/302 and the housing 122/322 can be configured such that, when the lid 102/322 is closed, the created enclosure 124 is an airtight enclosure to prevent leakage and withstand pressure when pressure cooking is undertaken. The pan 112 may be fitted with the housing 122 in an appropriate manner, such as with gaskets and locking means. The window 110/310 can include a microwave transparent material that is capable of withstanding pressure in the enclosure 124 during the pressure cooking.
[0052] In an alternate embodiment, the disclosed cooking pot can be configured for frying of food items. For which, the pan may be configured to hold frying oil and the food items to be fried may be dipped in the oil.
[0053]
[0054] Thus the present disclosure provides an improved cooking pot that overcomes drawbacks of known cooking apparatuses that use multiple sources of heat energy including microwaves, and can be configured for pressure cooking or frying.
