    DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

[0030] The innovation is now described with reference to the drawings, wherein like reference numerals are used to refer to like elements throughout. In the following description, for purposes of explanation, numerous specific details are set forth in order to provide a thorough understanding thereof. It may be evident, however, that the innovation can be practiced without these specific details. One embodiment is discussed hereinafter. It should be noted that the figures are described only to facilitate the description of the embodiment. They do not intend as an exhaustive description of the invention or do not limit the scope of the invention. Additionally, the illustrated embodiment need not have all the aspects or advantages shown. Thus, in other embodiments, any of the features described herein may be combined.

[0031] Reference to a singular item or element includes the possibility that there are more than one of the same item or element present. Examples of singular and plural forms that have been used herein include toddler and toddlers; infant and infants; onesie and onesies; fastener and fasteners, etc.

[0032] Unless defined otherwise, all technical and scientific terms used herein have the same meaning as commonly understood by one of ordinary skills in the art.

[0033] As noted above, it is oftentimes difficult and frustrating to dress and undress infants and toddlers to change a soiled diaper. More specifically, most infants and toddlers will cry, wiggle, resist and generally fidget when being dressed or undressed while having their diapers changed. Accordingly, the faster and more comfortable the entire process of diaper changes, the less frustrating it is for both the child/wearer and the parent or caregiver.

[0034] The feature of the improved garment with detachable legs, where the middle part of the front panel located at the bottom of the upper portion can be connected with the middle part of the rear panel, via the magnetic closure system, quickens access to reaching the pelvic area during diaper changes, firstly, by providing an easy and quick pull to open the closure system rapidly, and secondly, by providing functionality where the closure system can automatically close itself. Therefore, this reduces the steps and complexity of the process of reaching the pelvic area, leading to simpler and faster diaper changes.

[0035] It should be noted that this invention is not limited to pants, jumpsuits, onesies, rompers, swimsuits, bodysuits, or other one-piece garments; it can be applied wherever the design is needed. It can be easily seen that the system has usefulness in a variety of garments with legs.

[0036] And it is not limited to garments for infants, toddlers and people with disabilities; anyone who needs the functionality, whether they are wearing a diaper or not, could find utility in this invention.

[0037] Notwithstanding the foregoing, the system of detaching legs from the upper portion of the present invention while having a magnetic closure system connecting the front and rear panel can be used in any garment as is known without affecting the overall concept of the invention, provided that it accomplishes the above stated objectives. One of ordinary skills in the art will appreciate the garment system 200 and its various components, as shown in the FIGS. are for illustrative purposes only.

[0038] What has been described above includes examples of the claimed subject matter. It is, of course, not possible to describe every conceivable combination of components or methodologies for purposes of describing the claimed subject matter, but one of ordinary skill in the art may recognize that many further combinations and permutations of the claimed subject matter are possible. Accordingly, the claimed subject matter is intended to embrace all such alterations, modifications and variations that fall within the spirit and scope of the appended claims. Furthermore, to the extent that the term includes is used in either the detailed description or the claims, such a term is intended to be inclusive in a manner similar to the term comprising as comprising is interpreted when employed as a transitional word in a claim.

[0039] Referring initially to the drawings, FIGS. 1-5 illustrate various views of a variation of one potential embodiment of the improved garment with detachable legs for a onesie 200 for infants, young children and disabled persons who need diaper changes.

[0040] FIG. 1 illustrates a front view of the onesie 200 of the present invention in an open condition and in accordance with the disclosed architecture. More specifically, the onesie comprises an upper portion 201 where the bottom of the upper portion 201 is separated from front panel 202 to rear panel 203.

[0041] The middle part of the front panel 202 and the middle part of the rear panel 203 is open and can be closed via a magnetic closure system 206 formed by magnetic closure system side 206F and magnetic closure system side 206R attracted and attached to each other.

[0042] A zipper side 205L Upper runs along from the left side of magnetic closure system side 206F to the left side of magnetic closure system side 206R on the left side of the upper portion 201, a zipper side 205R Upper runs along from the right side of magnetic closure system side 206F to the right side of magnetic closure system side 206R on the right side of the upper portion 201.

[0043] With the pair of detachable legs 204, a zipper side 205L Lower runs along the top of the left leg 204 and another zipper side 205R Lower runs along the top of the right leg 204. The legs 204 can be connected with the upper portion 201 by zipping together the zipper side 205L Upper and the zipper side 205L Lower on the left side and also zipping together the zipper side 205R Upper and the zipper side 205R Lower on the right side.

[0044] The zippers used to connect 205L Upper and 205L Lower & 205R Upper and 205R Lower could be replaced with other garment closures including, but not limited to, buttons, snaps, magnetic snaps, buckles, ties, laces, toggle fasteners, clasps, drawstrings, grommets, eyelets, cord locks, brooches or pins, knots, hook and eye fasteners, D-rings, swivel snaps, touch fasteners, self-gripping or self-adhering fasteners, hook and loop-type fasteners, or complemental parts which adhere to each other when pressed together and are adapted for use as a closure fastener.

[0045] FIG. 2 illustrates another front view of the onesie 200 with the middle part of the front panel 202 and the middle part of the rear panel 203 closed and connected via a magnetic closure system 206 formed by magnetic closure system side 206F and magnetic closure system side 206R attracted and attached to each other. The pair of detachable legs 204 are in an open condition and detached from the upper portion 201.

[0046] FIG. 3 illustrates another front view of the onesie 200 with the middle part of the front panel 202 and the middle part of the rear panel 203 closed and connected via a magnetic closure system 206 formed by magnetic closure system side 206F and magnetic closure system side 206R attracted and attached to each other, and with the right leg 204 connected to the upper portion 201 where zipper side 205R Upper and zipper side 205R Lower are zipped together forming the closed zipper 205R. Zipper side 205L Upper and 205L Lower are not zipped together leaving the left leg 204 detached from the upper portion 201.

[0047] FIG. 4 illustrates another front view of the onesie 200 with the middle part of the front panel 202 and the middle part of the rear panel 203 closed and connected via a magnetic closure system 206 formed by magnetic closure system side 206F and magnetic closure system side 206R attracted and attached to each other, and with both legs 204 connected to the upper portion 201 where 205L Upper is zipped together with 205L Lower forming the closed zipper 205L and 205R Upper is zipped together with 205R Lower forming the closed zipper 205R.

[0048] FIG. 5 illustrates a rear view of the onesie 200 with the same scenario as that in FIG. 4 with the middle part of the front panel 202 and the middle part of the rear panel 203 closed and connected via a magnetic closure system 206 formed by magnetic closure system side 206F and magnetic closure system side 206R attracted and attached to each other and both legs 204 connected to the upper portion 201.

[0049] Referring to FIGS. 1-5, a method of reaching the pelvic area during a diaper change is illustrated. In order to change the diaper, a caregiver can detach the legs 204 from the upper portion 201 by unzipping the closed zippers on both left and right side of onesie 200, namely 205L and 205R. Unzipping these form zipper sides 205L Upper and 205L Lower & 205R Upper and 205R Lower. Next, the caregiver will just pull either side of the middle part of the front panel 202 or the middle part of the rear panel 203 at the bottom of upper portion 201, and the magnetic closure system 206 will be easily undone into magnetic closure system side 206F and magnetic closure system side 206R, to fully expose the diaper while keeping the wearer's legs in the legs 204. Subsequently, the caregiver can replace the old diaper with a new one. After that, the caregiver can close the onesie by zipping back 205L Upper with 205L Lower on the left side of the onesie & 205R Upper with 205R Lower on the right side of the onesie, followed by which, the magnetic closure system 206 formed by 206F and 206R closes itself automatically.
