Abstract
An electrical connector includes: a housing defining plural passageways arranged in a matrix pattern; and plural contacts in the corresponding passageways, respectively, each of the contacts including a main vertical plate having a retaining flange proximate to a middle side of the main vertical plate and retained in the passageway, an inverted V-shaped plate and a first abutting plate extending from an upper end of the main vertical plate in order, and an V-shaped plate and a second abutting plate extending from a lower end of the main vertical plate in order, each of the inverted V-shaped plate and the V-shaped plate defining a peak contacting portion, wherein the first and the second abutting plates are separated from an inner side of the passageway with a gap even upon urging the inverted V-shaped plate and the V-shaped plate to partly move into the passageway.
Claims
1. A chip socket comprising: a housing defining an upper surface and a lower surface opposite to each other and passageways arranged in matrix and extending through the upper surface and the lower surface; and conductive contacts disposed in the passageways, respectively, each of the contacts comprising a fixing part, a first elastic part extending upward from the fixing part, a first abutting part bent downward from the first elastic part, a second elastic part extending downward from the fixing part, and a second abutting part bent upward from the second elastic part, the first elastic part defining a first contacting portion and the second elastic part defining a second contacting portion, the first and second abutting parts being able to move toward and contact each other to establish an electrical connection between the first and second abutting parts; wherein the first elastic part comprises a first vertical portion extending upward from the fixing part and a first inclined portion extending obliquely from the first vertical portion and located above the upper surface of the housing, the second elastic part comprises a second vertical portion extending downward from the fixing part and a second inclined portion extending obliquely from the second vertical portion and located below the lower surface of the housing, and the first vertical portion and the second vertical portion are coplanar.

The chip socket as claimed in claim 1, wherein the first abutting part comprises a third inclined portion bent downward from the first inclined portion and a first extending portion bent downward from the third inclined portion continually, the first extending portion has a first abutting end bent inwardly at a distal free end thereof, the second abutting part comprises a fourth inclined portion bent upward from the second inclined portion and a second extending portion bent upward from the fourth inclined portion continually, the second extending portion has a second abutting end bent inwardly at a distal free end thereof, and the first abutting end the second abutting end are designed to touch each other to establish the electrical connection.
3. The chip socket as claimed in claim 2, the first extending portion and the second extending portion are parallel to the first and second vertical parts.
4. The chip socket as claimed in claim 2, wherein each of the first elastic part and the second elastic part defines a longitudinal groove extending along an extending direction thereof.

The chip socket as claimed in claim 4, wherein a highest point of the longitudinal groove of the first elastic part is at a same height as an intersection point of the third inclined portion and the first extension portion, and a lowest point of the longitudinal groove of the second elastic part is at a same height as an intersection point of the fourth inclined portion and the second extension portion.

An electrical socket comprising: a housing defining an upper surface and a lower surface opposite to each other and a plurality of passageways extending through the upper surface and the lower surface; and a plurality of contacts disposed in the passageways, respectively, each of the contacts comprising a fixing part with an interference flange on a side thereof and fixed in the housing, a first vertical portion extending upwardly and a second vertical portion extending downwardly from the fixing part, respectively, a first extending portion facing and being parallel to the first vertical portion and a second extending portion facing and being parallel to the second vertical portion, a first V-shaped part linked with the first extending portion and the first vertical portion and defining a first contacting portion above the upper surface, and a second V-shaped part linked with the second extending portion and the second vertical portion and defining a second contacting portion below the lower surface; wherein the first extending portion defines a first abutting end at a distal free end thereof and the second extending portion defines a second abutting end at a distal free end thereof, and the first abutting end and the second abutting end move toward and contact each other upon urging the first and the second contacting portions.

The electrical socket as claimed in claim 6, wherein the first V-shaped part comprises a first inclined portion extending obliquely and upwardly from the first vertical portion, a third inclined portion extending obliquely and upwardly from the first extending portion and located above the upper surface, the first contacting portion bending upwardly between and connecting the first inclined portion and the third inclined portion, and the second V-shaped part includes a second inclined portion extending obliquely and downwardly from the second vertical portion, a fourth inclined portion extending obliquely and downwardly from the second extending portion, the second contacting portion bending downwardly between and connecting the second inclined portion and the fourth inclined portion.

The electrical socket as claimed in claim 7, wherein the intersection point of the first vertical portion and the first inclined portion is located above the upper surface, and the intersection point of the second vertical portion and the second inclined portion is located below the lower surface.
9. The electrical socket as claimed in claim 7, wherein the intersection point of the first extending portion and the third inclined portion is higher than the intersection point of the first vertical portion and the first inclined portion while lower than the first contacting portion.
10. The electrical socket as claimed in claim 6, wherein one of the interference flanges is connected with a strip connecting part as viewed from a top, and each of the first and second inclined parts forms a 45 degrees angle with the strip connecting part, respectively.
11. The electrical socket as claimed in claim 7, wherein a first longitudinal groove is formed from the first inclined portion to the first vertical portion and a second longitudinal groove is formed from the second inclined portion to the second vertical portion.
12. An electrical socket comprising: a housing defining a plurality of passageways arranged in a matrix pattern; and a plurality of contacts in the corresponding passageways, respectively, each of the contacts comprising a main vertical plate having a retaining flange proximate to a middle side of the main vertical plate and retained in the passageway, an inverted V-shaped plate and a first abutting plate extending from an upper end of the main vertical plate in order, and an V-shaped plate and a second abutting plate extending from a lower end of the main vertical plate in order, each of the inverted V-shaped plate and the V-shaped plate defining a peak contacting portion; wherein the first and the second abutting plates are separated from an inner side of the passageway with a gap even upon urging the inverted V-shaped plate and the V-shaped plate to partly move into the passageway.
13. The electrical socket as claimed in claim 12, wherein the inverted V-shaped plates and the V-shaped plates are located away from the passageway.
14. The electrical socket as claimed in claim 12, wherein the contact is symmetrical in a vertical direction.
