[0024] Hereinafter, an embodiment of the present disclosure will be described with reference to the accompanying drawings. As illustrated in
[0025] <Mounting Member 8, Connection Member 9, and Body Member 11>
[0026] The mounting member 8 is constituted by a flexible material such as a resin and a metal (for example, stainless steel). The mounting member 8 includes a first portion 8A, and second portions 8B and 8C. The first portion 8A, and the second portions 8B and 8C are elongated plate-shaped members which are curved, respectively. The first portion 8A extends in a right and left direction, and is curved in a forwardly convex shape. The second portion 8B extends from an end on one side (for example, a left side) of the first portion 8A. The second portion 8C extends from an end on the other side (for example, a right side) of the first portion 8A. In the second portions 8B and 8C, ends on a side (for example, a rear side) opposite to a side, at which ends are connected to the first portion 8A, extend in a direction in which the ends approach each other. The mounting member 8 is mounted on the head of the user in a state in which the first portion 8A, and the second portions 8B and 8C are brought into contact with the a front head portion, a right head portion, and a left head portion of the user, respectively. In this state, the first portion 8A extends in the right and left direction along the forehead of the user.
[0027] The connecting member 9 has a rod shape. The connecting member 9 is constituted by a resin, a metal, and the like. One end (for example, an upper side) of the connecting member 9 is connected to the vicinity of a portion, which is connected to the second portion 8C, of the first portion 8A of the mounting member 8. The connecting member 9 and the mounting member 8 are connected to each other by a ball joint. The body member 11 to be described later is connected to the other end (for example, a lower side) of the connecting member 9. The connecting member 9 and the body member 11 are connected to each other by a ball joint. The connecting member 9 holds the body member 11 at a position spaced away from the mounting member 8. The connecting member 9 can dispose the half mirror 56 of the body member 11 in front of a left eye of the user in a state in which the mounting member 8 is mounted on the head of the user.

[0032] Furthermore, in the following description, in the curved portion 212, a position at which a tangential line is inclined with respect to a horizontal direction by 45 is defined as a connection position 212S (refer to
[0033] The second front surface 22M is inclined in a diagonally downward direction as it goes from the rear side to the front side. The third front surface 23M is inclined in a diagonally upward direction as it goes from the rear side to the front side. Accordingly, a distance between the second front surface 22M and the third front surface 23M in an up and down direction gradually decreases as it goes from the rear side to the front side. Accordingly, a length of the fifth front surface 25M in the up and down direction, in other words, a length between the connection position 225S and the connection position 235S in the up and down direction also gradually decreases as it goes from the rear side to the front side.
[0034] As illustrated in
[0035] Hereinafter, in the first casing 21, the second casing 22, the third casing 23, and the fourth casing 24, portions on a left side in comparison to the lens unit 6 to be described later (refer to

[0042] <Image Unit 7>
[0043] The image unit 7 generates image light of an image in accordance with image data that is received from the external device through the communication line 28 (refer to
[0044] The first holding member 71 includes a cylindrical member 71A, and lateral plate members 71B, 71C, and 71D. The cylindrical member 71A is a cylindrical member that extends in the right and left direction. The lateral plate members 71B, 71C, and 71D are plate-shaped members which extend from a front end, a rear end, and a lower side of a right end of the cylindrical member 71A to a right side. A lower end of the lateral plate member 71B is connected to a front end of the lateral plate member 71D, and a lower end of the lateral plate member 71C is connected to a rear end of the lateral plate member 71D. The first holding member 71 is held at a fixing position with respect to the casing 12 by screws which are inserted in the plurality of holes 24D (refer to
[0045] The liquid crystal display device 72 includes a glass substrate 72A and the liquid crystal panel 72B. The glass substrate 72A and the liquid crystal panel 72B are disposed a portion that is surrounded by the lateral plate members 71B, 71C, and 71D in the first holding member 71. The liquid crystal panel 72B is a rectangular liquid crystal panel that is known. The liquid crystal panel 72B displays an image on a left lateral surface, thereby generating image light. The glass substrate 72A is provided on the left lateral surface of the liquid crystal panel 72B to protect a display surface of the liquid crystal panel 72B. For example, in a case where the liquid crystal panel 72B is a reflective liquid crystal, light from a light source (not illustrated) is incident to the liquid crystal panel 72B. The liquid crystal panel 72B reflects the incident light to generate image light. The image light, which is generated by the liquid crystal panel 72B, is transmitted from the glass substrate 72A on a left side.
[0046] The second holding member 73 includes a substrate holding part 73A and a control substrate 73B. The substrate holding part 73A is disposed on a right side of the liquid crystal panel 72B of the liquid crystal display device 72. The control substrate 73B is disposed on a right side of the substrate holding part 73A. The control substrate 73B is connected to the liquid crystal panel 72B through a flexible printed substrate (not illustrated). The communication line 28 (refer to
[0047] Furthermore, in the present disclosure, a two-dimensional display device such as a digital mirror device (DMD) and an organic EL may be used instead of the liquid crystal panel 72B. In addition, a retinal scanning display, which projects two-dimensionally scanned light on a retina of a user, may be used.
[0048] <Lens Unit 6>
[0049] The lens unit 6 is disposed on a left side of the image unit 7.
[0050] The lens unit 6 guides image light, which is emitted from the image unit 7, to the half mirror 56 that is disposed on a left side of the lens unit 6. The lens unit 6 includes a holding member 61, a cylindrical member 62, and a plurality of lenses 63.
[0051] The holding member 61 is a member having an approximately square tube shape that extends in the right and left direction. The plurality of lenses 63 are fixed on an inner side of the holding member 61. An optical axis of each of the plurality of lenses 63 is disposed on an axial line that extends from a center of the holding member 61 in the right and left direction. The cylindrical member 62 is a cylindrical member that extends in the right and left direction. The cylindrical member 62 is provided on a right side of the holding member 61. The radius of the cylindrical member 62 is slightly smaller than a radius of the cylindrical member 71A of the image unit 7. At least a part of the cylindrical member 62 is fitted into an inner side of the cylindrical member 71A. Image light, which is generated by the image unit 7, is incident to an inner side of the cylindrical member 62 from the right side, passes through the inner sides of the holding member 61 and the cylindrical member 62, and is emitted from a left end of the holding member 61 toward the left side. The plurality of lenses 63 refracts image light that is incident from the right side, and emits the image light to the left side.
[0052] A convex portion 64, which protrudes to a forward side, is provided on a surface 61A on a front side of the holding member 61. The convex portion 64 has a columnar shape. The convex portion 64 is fitted into a cam groove 42 (refer to
[0053] <Operation Member 3>
[0054] As illustrated in
[0055] The rear end surface 3B is fitted into a concave portion 21E that is provided in the first casing 21. Furthermore, in the first casing 21, the concave portion 21E is provided on a left side in comparison to the center of the casing 12 in the right and left direction, and thus the operation member 3 is disposed on a left side in comparison to the center of the casing 12 in the right and left direction. A distance between the front end surface 3A and the rear end surface 3B, that is, a length Lh of the operation member 3 in the front and rear direction is set to a predetermined length (for example, 3 mm) that is appropriate for a user to bring a finger into contact with the lateral surface 3C so as to rotate the operation member. Furthermore, a position of the rear end surface 3B in the front and rear direction is approximately the same as a position, at which the operation member 3 is provided, of the first front surface 21M of the first casing 21 in the front and rear direction. Accordingly, as illustrated in

[0061] <Deflection Unit 59>
[0062] The deflection unit 59 includes the half mirror 56 and the holder 5. As illustrated in
[0063] The half mirror 56 has a rectangular plate shape. For example, the half mirror 56 is configured by depositing a metal such as aluminum and silver on a transparent resin or a glass substrate to have a predetermined reflectivity (for example, 50%). The half mirror 56 is held by the holder 5 to be described later. In both surfaces of the half mirror 56 in a state of being held by the holder 5, one surface 56B faces a diagonally right backward side, and the other surface 56C faces a diagonally left forward side. The half mirror 56 reflects a part (for example, 50%) of light, which is incident to each of the surfaces 56B and 56C, and can allow the other part of the light to be transmitted therethrough.
[0064] Furthermore, in the present disclosure, a reflective member, which can totally reflect image light incident to the surface 56B to a rear side, may be used instead of the half mirror 56. In addition, an optical path deflection member such as a prism and a diffraction lattice may be used instead of the half mirror 56.
[0065] The holder 5 is disposed on a left side of the lens unit 6 to hold the half mirror 56. As illustrated in
[0066] As illustrated in
[0067] As illustrated in
[0068] As illustrated in
[0069] The deflection unit 59 is detachably supported to the casing 12.

[0073] Furthermore, a length between the right ends of the front-side first regulation members 221A and 231A and the left end of the second regulation member 211 is the same as the length (thickness) of the first end portion 51 of the holder 5 in the right and left direction. Accordingly, in a state in which the deflection unit 59 is mounted to the casing 12, the right end surfaces of the front-side first regulation members 221A and 231A and the left end surface of the second regulation member 211 regulate movement of the front side of the holder 5 in the right and left direction.
[0074] The extending part 521B of the holder protruding part 52B (refer to
[0075] An upper-side surface of the second end portion 52 (refer to
[0076] Furthermore, the length of the extending part 521B in the right and left direction is the same as the length of the groove 221C in the right and left direction. In addition, the length of the extending part 531B in the right and left direction is the same as the length of the groove 231C in the right and left direction. Accordingly, in a state in which the deflection unit 59 is mounted to the casing 12, the right end of the rear-side first regulation member 221B, and the upper end of the left end 24C of the fourth extending part 24A, which constitute the groove 221C, regulate movement of a rear side of the holder 5 in the right and left direction. In addition, in a state in which the deflection unit 59 is mounted to the casing 12, the right end of the rear-side first regulation member 231B and the lower end of the left end 24C of the fourth extending part 24A, which constitute the groove 231C, regulate movement of the holder 5 in the right and left direction.

[0078] <Overview of Operation (Focus Adjustment)>
[0079] Description will be given of an overview of an operation of the HMD 1. First, a user wears the mounting member 8 (refer to
[0080] Output of image data is initiated from an external device (not illustrated). The control substrate 73B (refer to
[0081] Description will be given of movement of the lens unit 6 in a case where the user rotates the operation member 3 so as to perform focus adjustment. In a case where the adjustment mechanism 4 rotates in accordance with the rotation of the operation member 3, the convex portion 64 (refer to
[0082] A case where the operation member 3 rotates in the clockwise direction will be described in detail as an example with reference to
[0083] A case where the operation member 3 rotates in a counterclockwise direction will be described in detail as an example with reference to
[0084] Furthermore, when the lens unit 6 moves in the right and left direction, a flare angle of image light, which becomes a virtual image to be confirmed with eyes by the user, varies by the plurality of lenses 63. Accordingly, the user can perform focus adjustment by rotating the operation member 3. Furthermore, as illustrated in
[0085] When the lens unit 6 moves in the right and left direction in accordance with rotation of the operation member 3 and the adjustment mechanism 4, at least parts of the cylindrical member 62 and the cylindrical member 71A in the right and left direction always overlap each other. Accordingly, even when the lens unit 6 moves in the right and left direction, image light, which is generated by the image unit 7, is not leaked from the image unit 7 and the lens unit 6 to an outer side.
[0086] While the adjustment mechanism 4 rotates, a state in which the leaf spring 40 (refer to
[0087] <Effect>
[0088] The user wears the mounting member 8, and disposes the half mirror 56 in front of a left eye (a right eye from a front side). The holder 5 is held by the casing 12 in a state in which the first end portion 51 comes into contact with the first rear surface 21B of the first extending part 21A of the casing 12. Accordingly, movement of the holder 5 to a front side of the user is regulated. In addition, the front-side first regulation members 221A and 231A, the rear-side first regulation members 221B and 231B, and the second regulation member 211 regulate movement of the holder 5 in the right and left direction. In this case, even when the holder 5 is detached from the casing 12 while the user who wears the HMD 1 performs an operation, the holder 5 does not intrude into an operation region on a front side the user, and moves to a user side.
[0089] Accordingly, in the HMD 1, even when the holder 5 is detached from the casing 12, it is possible to prevent the operation of the user from being obstructed.
[0090] The casing engagement part 241 engages with the first holder engagement part 541A and the second holder engagement parts 542A and 542B. In this state, the holder 5 is held by the casing 12, and therefore the HMD 1 can maintain a state in which the holder 5 is mounted to the casing 12. Accordingly, in the HMD 1, it is possible to prevent the holder 5 in a state of being mounted to the casing 12 from being detached from the casing 12. In addition, the casing engagement part 241 is provided at a position including the center of the left end 24C of the fourth extending part 24A in the up and down direction. Accordingly, in the HMD 1, it is possible to maintain the holder 5 at the central position in the up and down direction. In this case, it is possible to effectively prevent the holder 5 from being detached from the casing 12.
[0091] The front-side first regulation member 221A and the rear-side first regulation member 221B are provided on the second rear surface 22B. The front-side first regulation member 231A and the rear-side first regulation member 231B are provided on the third rear surface 23B. The front-side first regulation members 221A and 231A, and the rear-side first regulation members 221B and 231B respectively come into contact with the holder 5 from a left side, and can regulate movement of the holder 5 to the left side. In addition, in this case, the movement of the holder 5 in the right and left direction is regulated at both a front side and a rear side. According to this, in a state in which the user wears the HMD 1, movement of the holder 5 to the left side is appropriately regulated. Accordingly, in a case where the holder 5 is detached from the casing 12 during an operation of a user, it is possible to appropriately prevent the holder 5 from invading into an operation region on a left side (a right side on a user side).
[0092] The second regulation member 211 is provided on the first rear surface 21B. The second regulation member 211 comes into contact with the first end surface 51A of the first end portion 51 of the holder 5, and can regulate movement of the holder 5 to a right side. In addition, the second regulation member 211 is provided at a position including the center of the first rear surface 21B in the up and down direction. In this case, movement of the holder 5 to the right side is regulated on a front side and at the center in the up and down direction. Accordingly, the second regulation member 211 can more appropriately regulate movement of the holder 5 to the right side. Accordingly, even in a case where the holder 5 is detached from the casing 12 during an operation of a user who wears the HMD 1, it is possible to appropriately prevent the holder 5 from invading into an operation region on a right side (a left side on a user side).
[0093] The second regulation member 211 is provided in the vicinity of the left end 21C of the first rear surface 21B, and the holder 5 is held at this portion. Accordingly, external light incident to the HMD 1 from a front side is not shielded by the first extending part 21A of the first casing 21, and is incident to the half mirror 56 that is held by the holder 5. In this manner, in the HMD 1, in a case where the external light is transmitted through the half mirror 56 from a front side to a rear side, it is possible to prevent the external light from being shielded by the first casing 21.
[0094] The holder 5 includes the base member 50. The base member 50 includes the first end portion 51 to the fourth end portion 54. The second end portion 52 includes the holder protruding part 52B, and the third end portion 53 includes the holder protruding part 53B. The holder protruding part 52B is fitted into the groove 221C, and the holder protruding part 53B is fitted into the groove 231C. The grooves 221C and 231C can regulate movement of the holder 5 in the right and left direction. Accordingly, in the HMD 1, it is possible to appropriately fix the holder 5 to the casing 12.
[0095] The fourth end portion 54 includes the first holder engagement part 541A and the second holder engagement parts 542A and 542B. In a state in which the holder 5 is detached from the casing 12, the casing engagement part 241 is removed from the first holder engagement part 541A, and the second holder engagement parts 542A and 542B. On the other hand, in a state in which the holder 5 is mounted to the casing 12, the casing engagement part 241 engages with the first holder engagement part 541A, and the second holder engagement parts 542A and 542B, and regulates movement of the holder 5 in the front and rear direction. In this manner, in the HMD 1, it is possible to fix the holder 5 to the casing 12 in a detachable manner.
[0096] The mounting member 8 of the HMD 1 includes the first portion 8A that extends in the right and left direction, and is forwardly curved in a convex shape, and the second portions 8B and 8C which extend from both sides of the first portion 8A to a rear side. In addition, the HMD 1 includes the connecting member 9 that extends from the first portion 8A of the mounting member 8. The body member 11 is connected to an end of the connecting member 9. Accordingly, in a state in which a user wears the mounting member 8 on the head, it is possible to maintain the half mirror 56 in front of eyes of the user. Accordingly, the user can perform an operation using both hands while confirming image light deflected by the half mirror 56 with the eye.
MODIFICATION EXAMPLE
[0097] Furthermore, various modifications can be made in the present disclosure without limitation to the embodiment. The casing 12 may cover only a part of the image unit 7. Any one of the front-side first regulation member 221A and 231A, and the rear-side first regulation members 221B and 231B may be provided. Only one of the front-side first regulation members 221A and 231A may be provided. Only one of the rear-side first regulation members 221B and 231B may be provided. A regulation member may be provided on a right side of each of the front-side first regulation members 221A and 231A. The first end portion 51 of the holder 5 may be interposed between the front-side first regulation members 221A and 231A and the regulation members which are provided on the right side thereof at both a right side and a left side, respectively. A regulation member may be provided on a right side of each of the rear-side first regulation members 221B and 231B. The holder protruding parts 52B and 53B of the holder 5 may be interposed between the rear-side first regulation members 221B and 231B and the regulation members which are provided on the right side thereof at both a right side and a left side, respectively. A regulation member may be provided on a left side of the second regulation member 211. The first end portion 51 of the holder 5 may be interposed between the second regulation member 211 and the regulation member on the right side at both a right side and a left side.
[0098] The casing engagement part 241 may be provided over the entire region of the left end 24C of the fourth extending part 24A in the up and down direction. In addition, the casing engagement part 241 may not be provided. For example, the first holder engagement part 541A, and the second holder engagement parts 542A and 542B may directly engage with the left end 24C of the fourth extending part 24A.
[0099] The first holder engagement part 541A may be provided at two sites, that is, on a front side of the second holder engagement parts 542A and 542B. The second holder engagement parts 542A and 542B may be integrally formed. The first holder engagement part 541A may not be provided. A groove into which the casing engagement part 241 is fitted may be provided instead of the first holder engagement part 541A, and the second holder engagement parts 542A and 542B.
[0100] The shape of the base member 50 of the holder 5 is not limited to the embodiment. A transparent plate (for example, glass) may be provided in the hole 51B at a portion surrounded by the first end portion 51 to the fourth end portion 54. For example, the half mirror 56 may be directly fixed to an end of the transparent plate. In this case, the first end portion 51 to the fourth end portion 54 may not be provided. Furthermore, in this case, an upper-side end of the transparent plate may be fitted into the groove 221C, and a lower-side end of the transparent plate may be fitted into the groove 231C.
[0101] In the left end 21C of the first casing 21, both ends in the up and down direction are recessed in a right direction toward the center in the up and down direction. Here, a transparent member may be provided in the recessed portion. In this case, positions of the left end 22C of the second extending part 22A and the left end 23C of the third extending part 23A in the right and left direction, and a position of a left end of the transparent member in the right and left direction may be the same as each other.
[0102] The HMD 1 may have a configuration in which the mounting member 8 and the connecting member 9 are not provided, and only the body member 11 is provided. The body member 11 may be directly fixed to an eyeglass and the like. In addition, the HMD 1 may have a configuration in which the mounting member 8 is not provided, and only the connecting member 9 and the body member 11 are provided.
