Grooved Hair Accessory Holder

Abstract

A grooved hair accessory holder. The grooved hair accessory holder has a top unit and a base unit that form a conical shape when secured together. The base unit has a bottom, sidewalls and an open upper end forming a frusto-conically shaped housing with an interior. The top unit has sidewalls that taper toward a closed upper end and an open lower end, forming a conical shape with an interior. There is a fastener adapted to removably secure the top unit to the base unit. Grooves are indented into the exterior surface of the sidewalk at a depth adapted to fit the width of a hairband therein.

Claims

1) A grooved hair accessory holder, comprising: a base unit having a sidewall, and an open upper end forming a frusto-conically shaped housing with a hollow interior; a base groove disposed along an exterior of the sidewall of the base unit; a top unit having a sidewall and an open lower end forming a conically shaped housing with a hollow interior; a top groove disposed along an exterior of the sidewall of the top unit; a fastener configured to secure the top unit to the base unit; wherein the depth of the top groove and the base groove fit the diameter of a hairband to a close tolerance.

2) The grooved hair accessory holder of claim 1, wherein the fastener comprises a threading disposed on an edge of the open upper end of the base unit and a corresponding threading disposed on an edge of the open lower end of the top unit.

3) The grooved hair accessory holder of claim 1, wherein the base groove and the top groove are each disposed in a helical configuration.

4) The grooved hair accessory holder of claim 1, wherein the top groove and the base groove are configured such that they form an uninterrupted track when the base unit is joined with the top unit.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

[0010] Reference is made herein to the attached drawings. Like reference numerals are used throughout the drawings to depict like or similar elements of the grooved hair accessory holder. The figures are intended for representative purposes only and should not be considered to be limiting in any respect.

[0011] Referring now to FIG. 1, there is shown a perspective view of the base unit of the grooved hair accessory holder. The grooved hair accessory holder comprises a base unit and a top unit configured to be secured together to form a structure that is conically shaped. The base unit 10 comprises a housing having a base, sidewalls 12 and an open upper end forming a frusto-conically shaped housing. The bottom and sidewalls 12 enclose a hollow interior 16. Grooves 14 are disposed on an exterior surface of the sidewalls. In some embodiments of the grooved hair accessory holder, the grooves 14 are configured in a helical shape circumscribed around the sidewalls 12. The grooves 14 are indented into the exterior surface of the sidewalls 12 at a depth adapted to closely fit the diameter of a hairband band therein. There is a lower fastener disposed on the open upper end of the base unit 10 configured to be secured to the top unit. In one embodiment of the grooved hair accessory holder, the lower fastener is female threading 18 disposed along an interior circumference of the open upper end.

[0012] Referring now to FIG. 2, there is shown a perspective view of the top unit of the grooved hair accessory holder. The top unit 20 comprises a shape matching the bottom unit 10, such that when both units are secured together they form a closed conical shape having a flat bottom and a top coming to a point. The top unit 20 comprises a housing having sidewalls 22 forming a conical shape having a hollow interior 24 therein, wherein the top of the conical shape comes to a closed point and the bottom of the conical shape is an open lower end. Similar to the base unit 10, the top unit 20 has grooves 14 disposed thereon. In some embodiments of the grooved hair accessory holder, the grooves 14 form a helical shape circumscribed around the exterior of the sidewalls 22. The depth and shape of the grooves 14 on the top unit 20 match the depth and shape of the grooves 14 on the base unit 10. In the depicted embodiment of the grooved hair accessory holder, the grooves 14 of the top unit 20 are arranged such that they form an uninterrupted track with the grooves 14 of the base unit when the base unit is joined to the top unit 20. There is an upper fastener disposed on the open lower end configured to be secured to the lower fastener disposed on the base unit 10.

[0013] In some embodiments of the grooved hair accessory holder, the upper fastener comprises a collar with male threading 26 thereon. When a user wishes to connect the top unit 20 to the base unit 10, the male threading 26 of the upper fastener is aligned with the female threading 18 of the lower fastener, and the units are rotated to enable the threading to engage and secure the top 20 and base 10 units together. In other embodiments of the grooved hair accessory holder, the lower fastener and upper fastener are magnets arranged to attract the base unit to the top unit.

[0014] Referring now to FIGS. 3 and 4, there are shown a close up perspective view of the tip of the top unit and both the base and the top unit of the grooved hair accessory holder in use. A hair accessory such as a hairband 30 can be place on the top unit 20. The hairband 30 will rest on the exterior of the sidewalls. Additionally, the hairband can rest within the grooves 14, temporarily securing the hairband 30 in place. Because of the conical structure of the grooved hair accessory holder, hairbands 30 of various diameters can be stored thereon simultaneously. The smaller bands will rest toward to upper end of the top unit 20 and the larger bands will rest lower down the sidewalls of the grooved hair accessory holder. Hair clips and other similar accessories can be secured to the top unit 20 as well if so desired.

[0015] Because the interior of both the base unit 10 and the top unit 20 are hollow, a user may store additional items therein, such as combs 40, hair brushes, clips and pins. In some embodiments of the grooved hair accessory holder, there is an organizing insert. The organizing insert has a housing configured to fit within the interior of the base unit 10 to a close tolerance. The organizing insert has interior dividers to partition the space of the lower interior 16 into various sections, allowing for easy and convenient storage of accessories while providing an integral organization method therein.
