DETAILED DESCRIPTION
[0021] The embodiments herein and the various features and advantageous details thereof are explained more fully with reference to the non-limiting embodiments that are illustrated in the accompanying drawings and detailed in the following description. Descriptions of well-known components and processing techniques are omitted to not unnecessarily obscure the embodiments herein. The examples used herein are intended merely to facilitate an understanding of ways in which the embodiments herein may be practiced and to further enable those of skill in the art to practice the embodiments herein. Accordingly, the examples should not be construed as limiting the scope of the embodiments herein.
[0022] It will be understood that when an element or layer is referred to as being on, connected to, or coupled to another element or layer, it can be directly on, directly connected to, or directly coupled to the other element or layer, or intervening elements or layers may be present. In contrast, when an element or layer is referred to as being directly on, directly connected to, or directly coupled to another element or layer, there are no intervening elements or layers present. It will be understood that for the purposes of this disclosure, at least one of X, Y, and Z can be construed as X only, Y only, Z only, or any combination of two or more items X, Y, and Z (e.g., XYZ, XYY, YZ, ZZ).
[0023] In the drawings, the size and relative sizes of components and regions may be exaggerated for clarity. The embodiments herein provide an eye bolt or screw eye wrench to overcome the problems of inefficient and ineffective conventional wrenches or other conventional tools used to engage an eye bolt or screw eye fastener. Referring now to the drawings, and more particularly to
[0024]
[0025] The handle 10 comprises a generally curved configuration comprising a first substantially straight portion 13 terminating in a tip 12. The handle 10 further includes a second substantially straight portion 15. The handle 10 does not require a sleeve or any other cover over the first or second substantially straight portions 13, 15 thereby allowing the wrench 5 to be constructed as a single component structure without having multiple parts and thereby reducing manufacturing complexities and reducing the chance for easily breakable components. The lack of sleeve or other cover also avoids the need for having a catch, cap, or other securing component over the tip 12 for sleeve/cover retention, which conventional wrenches typically require.
[0026] A bend 14 connects the first straight portion 13 to the second straight portion 15 such that the bend 14 creates an overall curved configuration for the handle 10, wherein the bend 14 forms an approximately 90 angle with respect to the first and second straight portions 13, 15 such that the axis z of the first straight portion 13 and the axis y of the second straight portion 15 are transversely positioned to one another on different planes. The shank 11 connects to the second straight portion 15 and comprises an elongated and substantially straight body portion 16. The second straight portion 15 of the handle 10 substantially aligns with the straight body portion 16 of the shank 11 such that they both align along the axis y.
[0027] A bend 17 connects the shank 11 to the wrench end 19, wherein the wrench end 19 comprises an elongated and substantially straight body portion 18 terminating in a tip 20. The substantially straight body portion 18 does not contain any curves, bumps, knobs, undulations, waves, etc., which facilitates ease of insertion of the fastener 25 through the wrench end 19. In one embodiment, the tips 12, 20 each comprise substantially flat surfaces 12a, 20a, respectively such that the flat surfaces 12a, 20a define a planar end tip 12, 20 (as opposed to a bulbous, angled, or pointed tip, etc.).
[0028] The straight body portion 16 of the shank 11 is configured to be longer than the straight body portion 18 of the wrench end 19 in one embodiment, although other configurations are possible. Moreover, the straight body portion 18 of the wrench end 19 is configured to be longer than the first straight portion 13 of the handle 10, although other configurations are possible. The wrench 5 is configured to have a substantially uniform thickness/diameter for the straight body portion 16 of the shank 11 as well as the straight body portion 18 of the wrench end 19. Moreover, the first and second straight portions 13, 15 of the handle 10 may also have the substantially same or just slightly greater thickness/diameter compared with the straight body portions 16, 18 of the shank 11 and wrench end 19, respectively. Such uniformity of the thickness/diameter of the various portions of the wrench 5 permit ease of handling, use, and manufacturing.
[0029] The bend 17 forms an angled configuration of the shank 11 in relation to the wrench end 19 such that the angle between the shank 11 and the wrench end 19 is less than 90 as best shown in
[0030]
[0031] More particularly, as shown in
[0032]
[0033] Accordingly, the handle 10 is engaged by a user to rotate the wrench 5 such that the direction of rotation (D.O.R.) may occur either clockwise or counter-clockwise. In this regard, the angular rotation (clockwise or counter-clockwise) of the wrench 5 occurs with respect to (about) point P, which occurs at bend 17, as indicated in
[0034]
[0035] The wrench 5 is dimensioned and configured to be able to engage all standard sizes, shapes, and configurations of fastener 25 used in the industry. However, during manufacturing, the wrench 5 may be appropriately configured (e.g., designed, lengthened, thickened, sized, etc.) according to particular requirements or sizes of fastener 25, and the embodiments herein are not restricted to a particular length, thickness, size, or material of the wrench 5.
[0036] The embodiments herein provide an eye bolt or screw eye wrench 5 capable of efficiently and effectively engaging eye bolt and screw eye fasteners 25. The wrench comprises a handle (e.g., first end) 10, a shank 11, and a wrench end (e.g., second end) 19. The handle 10 allows ease of use with regard to rotation of an eye bolt or screw eye fastener 25, and the shank 11 and wrench end 19 provide a stable and secure contact surface and functional design for enacting the rotational force needed to secure the fastener 25 in place.
[0037] The foregoing description of the specific embodiments will so fully reveal the general nature of the embodiments herein that others can, by applying current knowledge, readily modify and/or adapt for various applications such specific embodiments without departing from the generic concept, and, therefore, such adaptations and modifications should and are intended to be comprehended within the meaning and range of equivalents of the disclosed embodiments. It is to be understood that the phraseology or terminology employed herein is for the purpose of description and not of limitation. Therefore, while the embodiments herein have been described in terms of preferred embodiments, those skilled in the art will recognize that the embodiments herein can be practiced with modification within the spirit and scope of the appended claims.
