65. A skip according to claim 49 wherein the body is movable with respect to the frame.
66. A skip according to claim 65 further comprising elevation means adapted to elevate at least a portion of the body with respect to the frame wherein the elevation means moves the body from a load position to an unload position, such that waste material within the skip is biased towards the opening in the unload position due to the effects of gravity.
67. A skip according to claim 49 wherein the skip includes a waste processing device.
68. A skip according to claim 49, wherein the body comprises a plurality of walls, at least one of the walls having a non-linear cross-section adapted to strengthen the wall.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
[0078] Reference is first made to
[0079] The skip 10 comprises a body 12 having an interior 14 adapted to receive waste (not shown). The body 10 also defines an opening 16 for providing access to the interior 14.
[0080] The skip 10 further comprises a plurality of doors 18, particularly the skip 10 comprises a pair of horizontally opening doors 20, 22 and a pair of vertically opening doors 24, 26, each door 18 being movable between an open position (shown in
[0081] The skip 10 further comprises a trailer 28 having wheels 30 and a tow hitch 32, the body 12 being mounted to the trailer 28 and the tow hitch 32 providing connection to a vehicle (not shown) and permitting the skip 10 to be towed by a conventional vehicle with a tow bar.
[0082] The skip body 12 comprises a first side wall 32, a second side wall 34, a rear wall 36, base 38 and a top 40. As can be best seen from
[0083] The purpose of this kink 42 is to strengthen the wall. By incorporating this kink 42 into the sidewalls 32, 34 and the rear wall 36, sufficient strength is provided to the body 12 when the walls 32, 34, 36 are secured to the base 38 and the top 42 to obviate the need for internal bracing structures in the skip interior 14.
[0084] Accordingly, the skip 10 is adapted when the doors 18 are in the open position to facilitate a user being able to walk or step into the skip interior 14 from ground level to load or unload the skip 10 without having to negotiate internal structures within the skip 10. This arrangement reduces manual handling issues associated with raising debris to drop it into a conventional skip and the specialist equipment required to empty and conventional skip. A skip 10 according to this embodiment of the present invention, has the additional advantage of being completely mobile due to the integral trailer 28 which can be towed a conventional vehicle.
[0085] Referring primarily to
[0086] The pair of vertically opening doors 24, 26 are attached to the body top 40 by a bar 44 passing through six hinge loops 46 defined by the first and second vertically opening doors 24, 26. The use of this sort of hinge 40,46 means the pair of vertically opening doors 24, 26 open by subjecting them to an upward push.
[0087] The vertically opening doors 24, 26 include a front lip 50, 52 which, in the closed position, hangs down in front of the horizontally opening doors 20, 22, preventing the horizontally opening doors 20, 22 from opening.
[0088] Additionally, the second vertically opening door lip 52, overlaps the front of the first vertically opening door lip 50 such that with the doors in the closed position, both of the horizontally opening doors 20, 22 and the first vertically opening door 24 are held shut by the second vertically opening door 26.
[0089] Although not shown on these Figures, a locking mechanism such as a loop and padlock can be provided to lock all four doors 20, 22, 24, 26 shut.
[0090] Referring to
[0091] Referring now to
[0092] This arrangement has utility for, for example when the skip 10 incorporates a processing means of the sort shown in
[0093] A fourth embodiment of the skip 310 of the present invention is shown in
[0094] Referring to
[0095] To empty the skip 410, the horizontally opening doors 420,422 can be opened and the segregated waste removed. The internal separation panels 470 can also be removed increasing the utility of the skip 410 of the fifth embodiment.
[0096] Various modifications and improvements may be made to the above described embodiments without departing from the scope of the invention. For example, where the skip body can be elevated with respect to the trailer, as described in the third embodiment, in alternative embodiments, only the base of the skip may be elevated with respect to the trailer.
