Versatile Scarf Garment

Abstract

A garment that is a functional and aesthetically pleasing scarf which can be configured into a variety of states. The versatile scarf includes a scarf and a magnetic button. The scarf provides cover to the wearer and includes a first sleeve, a second sleeve, and a body cover. The body cover provides protection to the back region of the wearer. The body cover is adjacently connected the first sleeve and the second sleeve about a proximal opening of each sleeve. The first sleeve and the second sleeve cover the arms of the wearer and are positioned opposite to each other across the body cover. The magnetic button attaches the scarf to the clothes of the wearer. The magnetic button includes a first magnetic element and a second magnetic element. The first magnetic element is magnetically attached to the second magnetic element through an at least one layer of the scarf.

Claims

1. A versatile scarf garment comprises: a scarf; an at least one magnetic button; the scarf comprises a first sleeve, a second sleeve, and a body cover; the magnetic button comprises a first magnetic element and a second magnetic element; the body cover being adjacently connected to the first sleeve about a proximal opening of the first sleeve; the body cover being adjacently connected to the second sleeve about a proximal opening of the second sleeve; the first sleeve and the second sleeve being positioned opposite to each other across the body cover; and the first magnetic element being magnetically attached to the second magnetic element through an at least one layer of the scarf.

The versatile scarf garment as claimed in claim 1 comprises: a seam; the first sleeve and the second sleeve each comprise a planar body; a top edge of the planar body being connected along a bottom edge of the planar body by the seam; and the body cover being adjacently connected to the planar body in between the top edge and the bottom edge.

The versatile scarf garment as claimed in claim 1 comprises: a fastening mechanism; the first sleeve and the second sleeve each comprise a planar body; a top edge of the planar body being connected along a bottom edge of the planar body by the fastening mechanism; and the body cover being adjacently connected to the planar body in between the top edge and the bottom edge.

4. The versatile scarf garment as claimed in claim 1 comprises: the magnetic button further comprises a decorative grip; and the decorative grip being adjacently connected to the first magnetic element, opposite the scarf.

The versatile scarf garment as claimed in claim 1 comprises: wherein the magnetic button and the scarf being arranged into a scarf inserted configuration; and the first sleeve forming at least one loop by traversing the second sleeve from a proximal opening of the second sleeve to a distal opening of the second sleeve.

The versatile scarf garment as claimed in claim 1 comprises: wherein the magnetic button and the scarf being arranged into a jacket shawl configuration; the second sleeve being folded over on to the body portion adjacent to the first sleeve; and the second sleeve and the body portion being positioned in between the first magnetic element and the second magnetic element.

7. The versatile scarf garment as claimed in claim 6 comprises: a knot being tied into the second sleeve in between a proximal opening of the second sleeve to a distal opening of the second sleeve.

The versatile scarf garment as claimed in claim 1 comprises: wherein the magnetic button and the scarf being arranged into a shawl-with-button configuration; the first sleeve being folded over on to the second sleeve; and the first sleeve and the second sleeve being positioned in between the first magnetic element and the second magnetic element.

9. The versatile scarf garment as claimed in claim 1 comprises: wherein the magnetic button and the scarf being arranged into a scarf-twisted configuration; and the first sleeve and the second sleeve being knotted with each other.

10. A versatile scarf garment comprises: a scarf; an at least one magnetic button; a fastening mechanism; the scarf comprises a first sleeve, a second sleeve, and a body cover; the magnetic button comprises a first magnetic element and a second magnetic element; the first sleeve and the second sleeve each comprise a planar body; the body cover being adjacently connected to the first sleeve about a proximal opening of the first sleeve; the body cover being adjacently connected to the second sleeve about a proximal opening of the second sleeve; the first sleeve and the second sleeve being positioned opposite to each other across the body cover; the first magnetic element being magnetically attached to the second magnetic element through an at least one layer of the scarf; a top edge of the planar body being connected along a bottom edge of the planar body by the fastening mechanism; and the body cover being adjacently connected to the planar body in between the top edge and the bottom edge.

11. The versatile scarf garment as claimed in claim 10 comprises: the magnetic button further comprises a decorative grip; and the decorative grip being adjacently connected to the first magnetic element, opposite the scarf.

The versatile scarf garment as claimed in claim 10 comprises: wherein the magnetic button and the scarf being arranged into a scarf inserted configuration; and the first sleeve forming at least one loop by traversing the second sleeve from a proximal opening of the second sleeve to a distal opening of the second sleeve.

The versatile scarf garment as claimed in claim 10 comprises: wherein the magnetic button and the scarf being arranged into a jacket shawl configuration; the second sleeve being folded over on to the body portion adjacent to the first sleeve; and the second sleeve and the body portion being positioned in between the first magnetic element and the second magnetic element.

14. The versatile scarf garment as claimed in claim 13 comprises: a knot being tied into the second sleeve in between a proximal opening of the second sleeve to a distal opening of the second sleeve.

The versatile scarf garment as claimed in claim 10 comprises: wherein the magnetic button and the scarf being arranged into a shawl-with-button configuration; the first sleeve being folded over on to the second sleeve; and the first sleeve and the second sleeve being positioned in between the first magnetic element and the second magnetic element.

16. The versatile scarf garment as claimed in claim 10 comprises: wherein the magnetic button and the scarf being arranged into a scarf-twisted configuration; and the first sleeve and the second sleeve being knotted with each other.

[0016] The present invention is an alternative design for a scarf. More specifically, the present invention is a versatile scarf garment designed to be worn around the shoulders, arms, and head region in a multitude of different configurations. The present invention enables a wearer to achieve these different configurations through the use of a pair of sleeves and an at least one magnetic button 12. For example, the present invention may be worn as a jacket with extended sleeves, a jacket shawl, a regular shawl, a vest, and a scarf.

[0017] Referring to FIG. 1 and FIG. 5, the present invention comprises a scarf 1 and the at least one magnetic button 12. The scarf 1 provides cover for the user's shoulder and head region, and comprises a first sleeve 2, a second sleeve 4, and a body cover 10. The body cover 10 is an elongated piece of fabric used to cover the wearer's back, shoulders, and/or head region. Additionally, the body cover 10 connects the first sleeve 2 and the second sleeve 4. The first sleeve 2 and the second sleeve 4 are each a pieces of fabric formed into an elongated tube that provides cover for the user's arm. Additionally, the first sleeve 2 and the second sleeve 4 allow for the present invention to be configured in a variety of different configurations, described below. The body cover 10 is adjacently connected to the first sleeve 2 about a proximal opening 3 of the first sleeve 2. Similarly, the body cover 10 is adjacently connected to the second sleeve 4 about a proximal opening 5 of the second sleeve 4. The first sleeve 2 and the second sleeve 4 are positioned opposite to each other across the body cover 10 to yield a shirt-like shape which conforms to the contours and anatomy of the human body. The size, thickness, and material composition of the body cover 10, the first sleeve 2, and the second sleeve 4 may vary to meet the preferences and requirements of the user/wearer. A few possible material compositions for the scarf 1 include, but are not limited to, silk, polyester, cotton, or other natural and synthetic materials. For example, for harsher weather conditions, the scarf 1 may be composed of thick, highly insulating material. For lighter weather conditions, the scarf 1 may be composed of a lighter, more aesthetically pleasing material such as silk.

[0018] Referring to FIG. 2, the magnetic button 12 is used to secure the scarf 1 into various configurations and to attach/secure the scarf 1 to a garment or clothes of the wearer. The magnetic button 12 comprises a first magnetic element 13 and a second magnetic element 14. The first magnetic element 13 and the second magnetic element 14 are each a magnetic disk with a strong magnetic field. The strong magnetic characteristic of the first magnetic element 13 and the second magnetic element 14 allows for layers of the scarf 1 and other fabric to be secured in between the first magnetic element 13 and the second magnetic element 14. In relation to the scarf 1, the first magnetic element 13 is magnetically attached to the second magnetic element 14 through an at least one layer 11 of the scarf 1. This configuration allows the user to attach the present invention to his or her own garments and/or configure the present invention into different states. To attach the present invention to the wearer's garment, the wearer positions the at least one layer 11 of the scarf 1 and a layer of his own garment in between the first magnetic element 13 and the second magnetic element 14. This attaches the scarf 1, the wearer's garment, the first magnetic element 13, and the second magnetic element 14 to each other. In alternative embodiments of the present invention, the at least one magnetic button 12 may comprise a plurality of magnetic buttons 12 in order to allow the wearer to further secure the scarf 1.

[0019] In the preferred embodiment of the present invention, the magnetic button 12 further comprises a decorative grip 15. The decorative grip 15 serves two main purposes. First, the decorative grip 15 acts as the grasping element for the magnetic button 12 in order to allow the wearer to easily manipulate and handle the magnetic button 12. Second, the decorative grip 15 acts as an aesthetic element, thus allowing the wearer to further customize the magnetic button 12 in order to match his or her specific preferences. The decorative grip 15 is adjacently connected to the first magnetic element 13, opposite the scarf 1. As a result, the decorative grip 15 orients outward from the scarf 1 and the wearer. The design, shape, material composition, and size of the decorative grip 15 may vary in order to meet the needs and preferences of the wearer. For example, the decorative grip 15 may be flower shaped.

[0020] Referring to FIG. 3, the first sleeve 2 and the second sleeve 4 each comprise a planar body 7. The planar body 7 is preferably a rectangular piece of fabric the is formed into a tubular shape. In particular, a top edge 8 of the planar body 7 is connected along a bottom edge 9 of the planar body 7 by a seam 16, similar to traditional designs for shirts and sleeves. The tubular shape is sized to fully or partially receive an arm of the wearer. A variety of lengths and widths may be implemented for the first sleeve 2 and the second sleeve 4 in order to accommodate a multitude of body types and to create alternative fashion designs. As a result, the body cover 10 is adjacently connected to the planar body 7 of the first sleeve 2 in between the top edge 8 and the bottom edge 9. Similarly, the body cover 10 is adjacently connected to the planar body 7 of the second sleeve 4 in between the top edge 8 and the bottom edge 9.

[0021] Referring to FIG. 4, in an alternative embodiment of the present invention, the first sleeve 2 and the second sleeve 4 may be configured into an open configuration, a closed configuration, and a partially closed configuration through the use of a fastening mechanism 17. In this embodiment of the present invention, the top edge 8 of the planar body 7 is attached to the bottom edge 9 of the planar body 7 by the fastening mechanism 17. Type of mechanisms that may be used as the fastening mechanism 17 includes, but is not limited to, hook-and-loop fasteners, zippers, snaps, and buttons. This allows the wearer to disconnect the top edge 8 from the bottom edge 9 partially or completely in order to expose the interior of the first sleeve 2 and the second sleeve 4. This allows the wearer to open up the first sleeve 2 and/or the second sleeve 4 in order to adjust IV's and or other medical tubes in a medical or home setting. Additionally, this feature aids caretakers in dressing a wearer who may have disabilities due to illness, age, or injury and may or may not be in a wheelchair.

[0022] The present invention, the scarf 1 and the magnetic button 12 to be specific, may be configured into a variety of states includes, but not limited to, a scarf 1 inserted configuration, a jacket shawl configuration, a shawl-with-button configuration, and a scarf-twisted configuration. Referring to FIG. 7, the scarf 1 inserted configuration utilizes the present invention as a regular scarf wherein the tubular shape of the first sleeve 2 and the second sleeve 4 is used to tie the first sleeve 2 to the second sleeve 4. In particular, the first sleeve 2 traverses the second sleeve 4 from the proximal opening 5 of the second sleeve 4 to a distal opening 6 of the second sleeve 4 in order to form an at least one loop, this ties the first sleeve 2 and the second sleeve 4 together and resultantly secures the present invention to the wearer's neck and upper body region. Referring to FIG. 9, the jacket shawl configuration utilizes either the first sleeve 2 or the second sleeve 4 as a cover for the chest portion of the wearer. In particular, the second sleeve 4 is folded over on to the body cover 10 adjacent to the first sleeve 2. This positioning is secured by the magnetic button 12, wherein the second sleeve 4 and the body cover 10 are positioned in between the first magnetic element 13 and the second magnetic element 14. The magnetic field of the magnetic button 12 attaches the second sleeve 4 to the body cover 10. Referring to FIG. 10, a knot 18 may be tied into the second sleeve 4 in between the proximal opening 5 of the second sleeve 4 and the distal opening 6 of the second sleeve 4 for additional aesthetic design and to tighten the scarf 1 around the wearer's neck.

[0023] Referring to FIG. 8, the shawl-with-button configuration utilizes the magnetic button 12 to secure the scarf 1 into a shawl state. In particular, the first sleeve 2 is folded over on to the second sleeve 4 similar to a traditional shawl. The first sleeve 2 and the second sleeve 4 are positioned in between the first magnetic element 13 and the second magnetic element 14 in order to be secured in place. Referring to FIG. 6, the scarf-twisted configuration includes the first sleeve 2 and the second sleeve 4 being knotted with each other.
