EXAMPLES
Example 1 to 16
Modification of Scents by Addition of p-Tolylmethanol
[0490] p-Tolylmethanol (pTM) was added in small amounts of from 0.1 to 1 wt.-percent to various primary fragrances with balsamic or leathery notes. The resulting scent modification was determined by a panel of 5 experienced perfumers. The results are presented in Table 1.

[0492] Evaluation took place in 10% ethanol. Compared to the fragrance composition without pTM the new fragrance blend is much more harmonized. The Caramel facet is stronger and the presence of pTM makes it more Cappuccino-like. The Pyrazine part is well balanced and not anymore dominating.

[0493] Evaluation took place in 10% ethanol. By adding pTM the leather note is changing from smooth leather to suede. The blend is softer and the birch tar note is reduced. pTM harmonizes the notes and improves the performance.
