    Abstract

A pocket square insert device is provided that provides a formed and secured pocket square in a desired shape, and is comprised of an insert, inner sleeve, outer sleeve, piece of fabric, a brad, and decorative button. The insert features a longitudinal opening for adjustable positioning of the inner sleeve. A fabric attaches to the inner sleeve, wherein the fabric can be shaped into various folds and secured to the inner sleeve using adhesives. The outer sleeve attaches to the inner sleeve, and both sleeves have openings aligned to secure with the brad through the opening of the insert and interior sleeve, allowing longitudinal adjustment of the sleeves and fabric. As a result, the device facilitates easy manipulation of the sleeves to expose a desired amount of fabric from a jacket pocket, ensuring a polished appearance wherein the shape of the fabric does not change during wear.

    DETAILED DESCRIPTION

[0020] The innovation is now described with reference to the drawings, wherein like reference numerals are used to refer to like elements throughout. In the following description, for purposes of explanation, numerous specific details are set forth to provide a thorough understanding thereof. It may be evident, however, that the innovation can be practiced without these specific details. In other instances, well-known structures and devices are shown in block diagram form to facilitate a description thereof. Various embodiments are discussed hereinafter. It should be noted that the figures are described only to facilitate the description of the embodiments. They are not intended as an exhaustive description of the invention and do not limit the scope of the invention. Additionally, an illustrated embodiment need not have all the aspects or advantages shown. Thus, in other embodiments, any of the features described herein from different embodiments may be combined.

[0021] As noted above, there exists a long-felt need in the art for an improved pocket square. There also exists a long-felt need in the art for a pocket square insert device. More specifically, there exists a long-felt need in the art for a pocket square insert device that does not need to be manually folded by a user. In addition, there exists a long-felt need in the art for a pocket square insert device that does not need to be manually folded by a user and that keeps its shape throughout use.

[0022] Referring initially to the drawings, FIG. 1 illustrates a front view of an insert 110 of one potential embodiment of a pocket square insert device 100 of the present invention in accordance with the disclosed architecture. The device 100 is comprised of an insert 110, an inner sleeve 120, an outer sleeve 130, a piece of fabric 140, a brad 150, and a decorative button 160. The device 100 allows the fabric 140 to be formed into a desired pocket square shape by securing the fabric 140 to the inner sleeve 120 and then securing the outer sleeve 130 to the inner sleeve 120.

[0023] The insert 110 is preferably generally rectangular in shape, but may be any shape. The insert 110 may be made from any material, but is preferably made from a plastic material. The insert 110 may be rigid, semi-rigid, or flexible in different embodiments. The insert 110 may be any color. The insert 110 is comprised of at least one opening 112. The opening 112 runs longitudinally along the insert 110. The opening 112 may be any shape, but is preferably generally rectangular in shape.

[0024] The inner sleeve 120 may be made from any material. The inner sleeve 120 is comprised of two openings 121, as seen in FIG. 2. During use, the inner sleeve 120 slides over the insert 110. The device 100 is also comprised of at least one piece of fabric 140. The fabric 140 may be any fabric type, color, pattern, and shape. The fabric 140 material includes but is not limited to silk, polyester, wool, cotton, linen, cashmere, microfiber, knit, satin, velvet, etc.

[0025] The fabric 140 can be folded in half over each sides of the inner sleeve 120 (and therefore on each side of the insert 110) and secured to the outer surface of each side of the inner sleeve 120 via at least one adhesive 124 such as but not limited to a glue, a tape, a double-sided tape, etc. This in effect secures the fabric 140 to the inner sleeve 120 in a folded configuration on both sides of the insert 110 (making the device 100 reversible during use). The inner sleeve 120 is then covered by at least one outer sleeve 130, as seen in FIG. 3. The outer sleeve 130 preferably attaches to the exterior surface of the inner sleeve 120 (and in one embodiment, also to the fabric 140) via an adhesive 131 of any type such as but not limited to a glue, a tape, a double-sided tape, etc. The exterior surface 134 of the sleeve 130 may be comprised of a raised or a recessed texture to facilitate easy manipulation of the outer sleeve 130 (and thus inner sleeve 120) as will be explained more fully below. The application of the outer sleeve 130 over the folded fabric creates a puff shape to the fabric 140. In should be appreciated that the fabric 140 may be folded and/or attached to the outer surface of the inner sleeve 120 in different manners in various embodiments to achieve different fabric 140 shapes. The fabric 140 may also be adhered to the outer sleeve 130 in one embodiment.

[0026] The inner sleeve 120 is further comprised of at least one (but preferably two) opening(s) 122. The outer sleeve 130 is also comprised of at least one opening 132. The openings 122,132 align to allow at least one brad 150 (or other similar fastener of the like) to be placed through both sleeves 120,130 and through the opening 112 of the insert 110, as seen in FIG. 4. Adhesive may also be used to secure various parts of each component 120,130, fabric 140 together and/or to one another.

[0027] Once secured through all three components 112,120,130 the brad 150 can be secured such that the outer sleeve 130 and inner sleeve 120 are attached to the insert 110 such that the sleeves 120,130 can move longitudinally along the insert 110 as the brad 150 moves longitudinally within the opening 112, as seen in FIG. 4 in a raised position. Prior to placing the insert 110 into a pocket, the outer sleeve 130 can be manipulated longitudinally along the insert 110 such that a desired amount of the fabric 140 is exposed from the pocket. The brad 150 may also be comprised of a fixedly attached or removable decorative button cover 160. The cover 160 may resemble but is not limited to a gemstone or any other natural and/or artificial material of the like.

[0028] It should be appreciated that longitudinal movement of the sleeves 120,130 along the insert 110 may be accomplished via any fastener or architecture.

[0029] The present invention is also comprised of a method of using 200 the device 100, as seen in FIG. 5. First, a device 100 is provided comprised of an insert 110 comprised of a longitudinal opening 112, an inner sleeve 120 comprised of two openings 121, an outer sleeve 130, a fabric 140, and a brad 150 [Step 202]. Next, the inner sleeve 120 can be placed over the insert 110 and the fabric 140 can be secured to both outer surfaces of the inner sleeve 120 using an adhesive 124 [Step 204]. Then, the outer sleeve 130 can be secured to the inner sleeve 120 (and to the fabric 140) via an adhesive 131, thereby forming the shape of the fabric 140 [Step 206]. Next, the brad 150 can be placed through an opening 132 of the outer sleeve 130, a first opening 122 of the inner sleeve 120, through the opening 112 of the insert 110, and through a second opening 122 of the inner sleeve 120, wherein the brad 150 can then be fastened to secure all three components 110,120,130 together [Step 208]. A decorative button 160 can optionally be placed on the head of the brad 150 in a fixedly attached or a removable fashion [Step 210]. Finally, the device 100 can be placed in a pocket of a suit or sport coat, wherein prior to being placed in the pocket, the outer sleeve 130 can be manipulated longitudinally within the opening 112 of the insert 110 to allow a desired amount of the fabric 140 (on either side of the insert 110) to be exposed outside of the pocket prior to insertion into the pocket, or re-adjusted if so desired to expose the exact amount of fabric if subsequently desired by the user [Step 212].
