    Abstract

    A skateboard carrying device is disclosed that is a multipurpose storage and transportation device for skateboards. The skateboard carrying device comprises a body component that is configured in a plurality of straps worn around the torso and back of a user, like a backpack. Specifically, two nylon straps are applied to a user as a waist strap, with a third strap being secured up over a user's shoulder. Additionally, four additional straps are secured to the third strap to secure a skateboard thereto. The straps can be secured via hook and loop fasteners or a buckle, etc. Users can carry their skateboard like a backpack to keep their arms and hands-free while traveling and transporting a skateboard.

    Claims

    1. A skateboard carrying device that provides a user with hands-free storage and transportation for skateboards, the skateboard carrying device comprising: a body component with a plurality of straps; wherein the plurality of straps are secured via mating connector components around a user's waist and shoulder; and further wherein the plurality of straps secure a skateboard in an upright position to a user's back for transport.

    2. The skateboard carrying device of claim 1, wherein the skateboard carrying device is utilized with a conventional skateboard, comprising a first end, a second end, a deck, a top surface, and a bottom surface with a plurality of wheels.

    3. The skateboard carrying device of claim 2, wherein the plurality of straps comprise two straps that come together to form a continuous strap around a user's waist.

    4. The skateboard carrying device of claim 3, wherein the two straps comprise an elongated first end and an elongated second end which secure together via a mating connector component.

    5. The skateboard carrying device of claim 4, wherein the plurality of straps comprise a third strap that is secured to the two straps around a user's waist and then is secured over a user's shoulder.

    6. The skateboard carrying device of claim 5, wherein the third strap comprises an elongated first end and an elongated second end which secure together via a mating connector component.

    7. The skateboard carrying device of claim 6, wherein the third strap further comprises a set of four additional straps which secure together to secure a skateboard in place.

    8. The skateboard carrying device of claim 7, wherein the four additional straps comprise an elongated first end and an elongated second end which secure together via a mating connector component.

    9. The skateboard carrying device of claim 8, wherein two of the four additional straps wrap around a first end of the deck and other two of the four additional straps wrap around a second end of the deck to keep the skateboard flat against a user's back and secured while traveling.

    10. The skateboard carrying device of claim 9, wherein the mating connector component is a releasable securing means, such as a hook and loop fastener, a buckle, or a snap.

    11. The skateboard carrying device of claim 10, wherein the plurality of straps comprise at least one shoulder cushion to provide comfort while using the skateboard carrying device.

    12. The skateboard carrying device of claim 11, wherein the plurality of straps comprise a plurality of pockets positioned along the plurality of straps with zipper closures.

    13. A skateboard carrying device that provides a user with hands-free storage and transportation for skateboards, the skateboard carrying device comprising: a body component with a plurality of straps; wherein the plurality of straps are secured via mating connector components around a user's waist and shoulder; wherein the plurality of straps comprise two straps that come together to form a continuous strap around a user's waist, with an elongated first end and an elongated second end which secure together via a mating connector component; wherein the plurality of straps comprise a third strap that is secured to the two straps around a user's waist and then is secured over a user's shoulder, with an elongated first end and an elongated second end which secure together via a mating connector component; wherein the third strap further comprises a set of four additional straps which secure together to secure a skateboard in place, with an elongated first end and an elongated second end which secure together via a mating connector component; wherein two of the four additional straps wrap around a first end of a skateboard deck and other two of the four additional straps wrap around a second end of the skateboard deck to keep the skateboard flat against a user's back, in an upright position and secured while traveling; and further wherein the plurality of straps comprise a plurality of pockets positioned along the plurality of straps with zipper closures.

    14. The skateboard carrying device of claim 13 further comprising a plurality of indicia.

    15. The skateboard carrying device of claim 13, wherein the plurality of straps are nylon.

    16. The skateboard carrying device of claim 13, wherein the mating connector component is a releasable securing means, such as a hook and loop fastener, a buckle, or a snap.

    17. The skateboard carrying device of claim 13, wherein the plurality of straps comprise at least one shoulder cushion to provide comfort while using the skateboard carrying device.

    18. The skateboard carrying device of claim 13, wherein the plurality of straps comprise additional storage components, such as credit card slots, key rings, or tabs, for storage of personal items.

    19. The skateboard carrying device of claim 13, wherein the skateboard carrying device is utilized with a conventional skateboard, comprising a first end, a second end, a skateboard deck, a top surface, and a bottom surface with a plurality of wheels.

    20. A method of transporting a skateboard hands-free, the method comprising the following steps: providing a skateboard carrying device comprising a body component that is configured in a plurality of straps that include straps around a user's torso and back of a user; securing a skateboard via four additional straps and hook and loop fasteners to the strap around a user's back; securing the plurality of straps to the torso and back of a user; and transporting the skateboard hands-free via the device, with the skateboard positioned on a user's back.

    [0033] As noted above, there is a long-felt need in the art for a skateboard carrying device that provides users with a strap system designed to support a skateboard on the user's back. There is also a long-felt need in the art for a skateboard carrying device that features multiple padded straps that can be worn around the torso, such that the front straps can store small personal items while the back straps can support a skateboard. Moreover, there is a long-felt need in the art for a device that allows users to carry keys, a wallet, cash, etc., within multiple pockets on the front section of straps. Further, there is a long-felt need in the art for a skateboard carrying device that includes four hook and loop fastener straps on the backside to fully secure and accommodate the skateboard. Finally, there is a long-felt need in the art for a skateboard carrying device that eliminates the need to carry skateboards under the arm or in the hand of a user.

    [0034] The present invention, in one exemplary embodiment, is a novel skateboard carrying device. The device is a multipurpose storage and transportation device for skateboards. The skateboard carrying device comprises a body component that is configured in a plurality of straps worn around the torso and back of a user, like a backpack. Specifically, two nylon straps are applied to a user as a waist strap, with a third strap being secured up over a user's shoulder. Additionally, four additional straps are secured to the third strap to secure a skateboard thereto. The straps can be secured via hook and loop fasteners or a buckle, etc. Further, each of the straps includes multiple pockets of varying sizes and key rings for storing small personal items. The present invention also includes a novel method of transporting a skateboard hands-free. The method includes the steps of providing a skateboard carrying device comprising a body component that is configured in a plurality of straps that include straps around a user's torso and back of a user. The method also comprises securing a skateboard via four additional straps and hook and loop fasteners to the strap around a user's back. Further, the method comprises securing the plurality of straps to the torso and back of a user. Finally, the method comprises transporting the skateboard hands-free via the device, with the skateboard positioned on a user's back.

    [0035] Referring initially to the drawings, FIG. 1 illustrates a perspective view of one embodiment of the skateboard carrying device 100 of the present invention. In the present embodiment, the skateboard carrying device 100 is an improved skateboard carrying device 100 that provides a user 112 with hands-free storage and transportation for skateboards 120. Further, the skateboard carrying device 100 comprises a body component 102 with a plurality of straps 104 secured via mating connector components 106. Accordingly, the skateboard carrying device 100 comprises a body component 102 that is configured in a plurality of straps 104 worn around a torso/waist 108 and back/shoulder 110 of a user 112, like a backpack to transport the skateboard 120. Specifically, two straps 114 are applied to a user 112 as a waist strap 114, with a third strap 116 being secured up over a user's shoulder 110. Additionally, four additional straps 118 are secured to the third strap 116 to secure a skateboard 120 thereto. Thus, the skateboard 120 is supported on a user's back 110 and kept secure, in a stable and upright position. Users 110 can carry their skateboard 120 like a backpack to keep their arms and hands-free while traveling and transporting a skateboard 120.

    [0036] Broadly, an embodiment of the present invention provides straps 104 secured around a user's waist 108 and shoulder 110 which also secures a skateboard 120 for transport. When a user 112 is carrying the skateboard 120, the user 112 may secure the straps 104 around their waist 108 and up over at least one shoulder 110, thereby forming a device 100 for transporting a skateboard 120 hands-free. Thus, the device 100, in one configuration, is used for supporting a skateboard 120 on the back 110 of a user 112, such that the individual's hands remain free for other tasks.

The present device 100 helps to relieve the physical stress and strain connected with the carrying of a skateboard 120 in a conventional manner. The present device 100 may further eliminate the individual's need for any other carrying device for their skateboard 120. Further, the present device 100 does not in any way impede the use and/or function of the skateboard 120.

    [0038] Generally, the skateboard carrying device 100 is utilized with a conventional skateboard 120. The conventional skateboard 120 may include a first end 122, a second end 124, a top surface 126, and a bottom surface 128. The bottom surface 128 may include a plurality of wheels 130 secured in a conventional way and a skateboard deck 132. The skateboard 120 can be any suitable shape and size as is known in the art.

    [0039] As shown in FIGS. 2-4, the skateboard carrying device 100 comprises a body component 102 which includes at least one strap 104. The strap 104 can be one long strap that is secured around a torso/waist 108 and back/shoulder 110 of a user 112, or the strap 104 can be a plurality of straps that are secured together to form the device 100. In one embodiment, the device 100 can be a strap 104 made from two smaller strap sections 114 that come together to form a continuous strap around a user's waist 108. In this embodiment, the straps 114 comprise an elongated first 200 and second 202 ends that form a length suitable for use as a standard trousers or pants belt. The two ends 200, 202 include a mating connector component 106. Thus, the connector component 106 of each strap end 200, 202 is adapted to allow connection and separation of the straps 114 via snap button engagement, hook and loop fasteners, or a standard belt buckle closure. The mating connector component 106 is adapted to secure the strap 114 together, while the device 100 is in use. Thus, the strap 114 is connected around a user's waist 108 and can be adjusted for different sizes.

    [0040] Furthermore, a third strap 116 is secured to the strap 114 around a user's waist 108 and then is secured over a user's shoulder 110. The third strap 116 comprises an elongated first 300 and second 302 ends that form a length suitable for use over a user's shoulder 110. The two ends 300, 302 include a mating connector component 106. Thus, the connector component 106 of each strap end 300, 302 is adapted to allow connection and separation of the third strap 116 via snap button engagement, hook and loop fasteners, or a standard belt buckle closure. The mating connector component 106 is adapted to secure the third strap 116 together over a user's shoulder 110, while the device 100 is in use. In another embodiment, the third strap 116 can also be secured over both of the user's shoulders 110.

    [0041] Additionally, the third strap 116 further comprises a set of four additional straps 118 secured together into two longer straps to secure the skateboard 120 in place. Specifically, two smaller strap sections 118 come together to form each longer strap. These additional straps 118 are secured to the third strap 116 via any suitable securing means as is known in the art, such as gluing, sewing, adhesive, etc. The skateboard 120 is then secured within the additional straps 118. Further, the additional straps 118 each comprise elongated first 400 and second 402 ends that include a mating connector component 106 which releasably secures the straps 118 together around the skateboard 120. The mating connector component 106 comprises a snap button engagement, hook and loop fasteners, or a standard belt buckle closure, etc., which act to statically support the skateboard 120 against a user's back 110, while the user 112 is walking. In operation, a first strap 118 is wrapped around a first end 122 of the skateboard deck 132 and a second strap 118 is wrapped around a second end 124 of the skateboard deck 132 to keep the skateboard 120 flat against a user's back 110 and secured while traveling.

    [0042] Generally, the straps 104 comprise a mating connector component 106 attached to cither end 200, 202, 300, 302, 400, 402 of any and all of the straps 104. The mating connector component 106 can be a releasable securing means, such as a hook and loop fastener, a buckle, a snap, etc., or any other suitable releasable securing means as is known in the art, depending on the needs and/or wants of a user 112.
