Abstract

The present invention is related to an aqueous conditioning composition for hair comprising at least one alkyl ester/amido alkyl amine or alkyl ester/amido alkyl quaternary amine and an aqueous emulsion of divinyldimethicone/dimethicone copolymer. In particular, a conditioning composition for hair comprising at least one compound according to general structure

wherein R.sub.1, A and R.sub.2 have the above meaning and X is chloride, bromide, methosulfate and an aqueous emulsion of divinyldimethicone/dimethicone copolymer with an internal phase viscosity of more than 110.sup.8 mm.sup.2/s measured at 0.01 Hz and at approximately 25 C.

Claims

1. An aqueous conditioning composition for hair comprising: stearyloxypropyl dimethyl amine present at a concentration from 0.25 to 5% by weight, calculated to the total composition; and an aqueous emulsion of divinyldimethicone/dimethicone copolymer with an internal phase viscosity of more than 110.sup.8 mm.sup.2/s measured at 0.01 Hz at 25 C., wherein the aqueous emulsion of divinyldimethicone/dimethicone copolymer is present at a concentration from 0.1 to 4% by weight, calculated to the total composition, and comprises non-ionic surfactant, wherein the composition has a pH in the range of 3.5 to 5.

2. The composition according to claim 1, wherein the aqueous emulsion of divinyldimethicone/dimethicone copolymer has a viscosity of higher than 1.210.sup.8 mm.sup.2/s measured at 0.01 Hz at 25 C.

3. The composition according to claim 1, further comprising: at least one conditioning agent selected from the group consisting of oily substances, nonionic substances, cationic amphiphilic ingredients, cationic polymers and their mixtures.

The composition according to claim 3, wherein the at least one conditioning agent is selected from cationic surfactants according to general formula ##STR00013## where R.sub.10 is a saturated or unsaturated, branched or non-branched alkyl chain with 8-24 carbon atoms and R.sub.11 is unsaturated or saturated, branched or non-branched alkyl chain with 1-24 carbon atoms and R.sub.12 and R.sub.13 are lower alkyl chain with 1 to 4 carbon atoms which may be substituted with one or more hydroxyl groups, and X is anion such as chloride, bromide, and methosulfate; cationic polymers and a silicone oil.

5. The composition according to claim 1, further comprising at least one selected from: at least one compound according to the formula ##STR00014## where n is a number between 1 and 10; at least one UV filter; and at least one polyphenol.

6. The composition according to claim 1, further comprising at least one organic solvent.

7. The composition according to claim 1, further comprising at least one direct dye.

8. The composition according to claim 1, wherein the composition is cleansing and conditioning composition and comprises at least one surfactant selected from anionic surfactants, nonionic surfactants and amphoteric surfactants or zwitterionic surfactants present at a concentration from 5 to 50% by weight, calculated to the total composition.

9. The composition according to claim 1, further comprising at least one surfactant selected from at least one anionic surfactant, at least one non-ionic surfactant and at least one amphoteric surfactant.

The composition according to claim 1, further comprising at least one compound according to general formula ##STR00015## wherein R.sub.14 is straight or branched, saturated or unsaturated alkyl chain with 4 to 24 carbon atoms, and R.sub.15 is H, or straight or branched, saturated or unsaturated alkyl chain with 4 to 24 carbon atoms.

11. The composition according to claim 1, further comprising an emulsion that comprises at least one fatty alcohol according to general formula
R.sub.20OH where R.sub.20 is a saturated or unsaturated, branched or non-branched fatty acyl chain with 8-24 carbon atoms.

12. The composition according to claim 1, wherein the aqueous emulsion of divinyldimethicone/dimethicone copolymer comprises C12-13 Pareth-23 and C12-13 Pareth-3.

The composition according to claim 12, wherein the stearyloxypropyl dimethyl amine is present at a concentration from about 0.5 to about 1% by weight, calculated to the total composition, the aqueous emulsion of divinyldimethicone/dimethicone copolymer is present at a concentration from about 0.5 to about 1% by weight, calculated to the total composition, and the composition has a pH in the range of 3.4 to 4.

The composition according to claim 13, wherein the stearyloxypropyl dimethyl amine is present at a concentration of about 1% by weight, calculated to the total composition, the aqueous emulsion of divinyldimethicone/dimethicone copolymer is present at a concentration of about 1% by weight, calculated to the total composition, and the composition has a pH of 4.

15. A method of conditioning hair wherein the composition according to claim 1 is applied onto hair and optionally rinsed off from hair after a processing time of 1 to 30 minutes.

Description

EXAMPLE 1

(2) The above composition was prepared by emulsifying Cetearyl alcohol and ceteareth-20 in water at approximately 70 C. and after cooling down to approximately 40 C. the other ingredients were added.

(3) The composition improves combability, shine, elasticity, volume and body of damaged hair. In addition it was observed that the same properties of hair which tips were highly damaged and root area were relatively healthy, were improved as well.

(5) The above composition was prepared in the same way as of Example 1.

(6) The composition conditions inhomogeneously damaged hair homogeneously so that hair is combabale, has shine, elasticity, volume and it is manageable.

(9) The above composition was used as a leave-in conditioner from a pump spray bottle on damaged hair which was freshly washed and towel dried. In dry state it was observed that hair was easily combable, had elasticity, volume and body.

(11) The above composition was used as a leave-in conditioner from a pump spray bottle on damaged hair which was freshly washed and towel dried. In dry state it was observed that hair was easily combable, had elasticity, volume and body.

(13) The above composition was especially suitable for coloured and/or highlighted hair. The coloured hair treated with the above conditioner is exceptionally shiny, well combable and has elasticity, volume and body.

(15) The above composition was especially suitable for coloured and/or highlighted hair. The coloured hair treated with the above conditioner is exceptionally shiny, well combable and has elasticity, volume and body.

(17) Above conditioner gives dark blonde hair red shimmer.

(19) Above conditioner gives light blonde hair additional blond shine.

(21) Above conditioner enhances combability, shine, volume body and elasticity. Hair treated with the above conditioner is excellently manageable and easily styled.

(23) Above conditioner enhances combability, shine, volume body and elasticity. Hair treated with the above conditioner is excellently manageable and easily styled. Above conditioner was also used as leave in conditioner and bodyfying effects was especially enhanced.

(25) Above composition had a viscosity below 500 mPa.Math.s and was filled into a pump foamer and used as leave in conditioner on a freshly washed and towel dried hair. Hair was excellently shiny and bodified also excellently combable.

(26) The above composition was also used as aerosol foam and therefore filled inot an aerosol can with 10% propane-butane mixture as a propellant. The above results were confirmed.

(27) The above composition can also be used as a pump spray.

EXAMPLE 14

(30) Above composition is applied onto shampooed hair and processed for 5 min and rinsed off from hair. It was observed that wet hair is easily combable. In the dry state combability, manageability, elasticity and shine were very much improved.

(31) Furthermore into the above conditioner composition, hair direct dye Basic red 51 was included. After use on dark blonde hair am excellent red shine was observed on the hair.

EXAMPLE 15

Foam Conditioner

(33) pH of the composition is adjusted to 3.4. The composition is suitable for leave-in and rinse off. In leave-in application, amount used is obviously less than in the case of a rinse of application. The composition is packed into an aerosol can with 90/10 ratio, by weight, liquid composition to propellant. As propellant propane, butane mixture is used.

(34) Into the above composition 0.1% Acid red 52 was added. It was possible to realize red shimmer onto dark blonde hair.

EXAMPLE 16

Foam Conditioner

(36) pH of the composition is adjusted to 3.4. The composition is suitable for leave-in and rinse off. In leave-in application, amount used is obviously less than in the case of a rinse of application. (39) The above composition can be used as both leave-in and rinse off.

(40) In the above composition decyl glycerin was replaced with ethylhexyl glycerin at the same concentration. The replacement of glyceryl ether did not change conditioning properties.

EXAMPLE 18

(42) Hair washed with the above shampoo composition showed excellent shine, volume, body, easily combable and improved elasticity and manageability. Exclusion of Trimethyl pentaphenyl trisiloxane and ethylhexyl glycerine resulted in loss of effects.

(43) Similar results are observed with the following shampoo compositions.

EXAMPLE 19

(45) To the above composition, 0.1% Basic orange 31 and 0.05% Basic red 76 was mixed. Hair washed with this shampoo had excellent warm blond shine.

EXAMPLE 20

(47) The above composition is a very low viscosity composition, in any case a viscosity lower than 500 mPa.Math.s measured at ambient temperature and with Hppler viscosimeter, confectioned into a pump-foamer as purchased from the company Air-SprayGermany and showed excellent shine effect

(48) Similarly and aerosol foam shampoo was prepared by confectioning the above composition at a weight ratio of 90/10composition/propellantusing propane-butane mixture as a propellant. The foam shampoo so obtained showed excellent cleansing and shine effects.

(49) Additionally, into the above shampoo 0.05% basic blue 99, and 0.005% basic red 51 was added. Excellent warm silver shine was observed on the washed gray hair. At the same time, excellent anti-yellow effect is observed on the freshly bleached hair.

(50) Furthermore the above cleansing and conditioning composition was added 1% by weight sodium chloride and it became a thickened shampoo without loss of any effects mentioned above.
