The rechargeable battery 128 is electrically coupled to the processor 94 and the rechargeable battery 128 is aligned with the battery door 60 in the outside wall 26 of the cover 22 to facilitate access to the rechargeable battery 128. The power supply 126 includes a solar panel 130 attached to the top side 57 of the outside wall 26 of the cover 22 such that the solar panel 130 is exposed to sunlight. The solar panel 130 is electrically coupled to the rechargeable battery 128 for charging the rechargeable battery 128. The power supply 126 further includes a plurality of charge ports 132 each recessed into the digital data reader 106 to insertably receive a charge cord 134 of an electronic device 136. Each of the plurality of charge ports 132 is electrically coupled to the rechargeable battery 128 and each of the plurality of charge ports 132 may comprise a universal serial bus port or other type of charging port commonly associated with rechargeable electronic devices.

[0040] A wireless keyboard 138 is provided that is in remote communication with the communication unit 88. The wireless keyboard 138 has a plurality of alphanumeric keys 140 for entering data into the communication unit 88. Additionally, the wireless keyboard 138 is insertable into a respective one of the pockets 62 in the interior of the article of luggage 12 for storage. The wireless keyboard 138 may comprise a wireless keyboard of any conventional design which may employ Bluetooth communication protocols to facilitate the wireless keyboard 138 to communicate with the second transceiver 102.

[0041] In an alternative embodiment 142 as is shown in FIGS. 11 and 12, a printer 144 may be provided that is integrated into the article of luggage 12 which can print documents or photos. The printer 144 may be electrically coupled to the processor 94 and the printer 144 may be positioned beneath the digital data reader 106. Alternatively, the digital data reader 106 may be absent and the printer 144 may be located in place of the digital data reader 106. Continuing in the alternative embodiment 142, a microphone 146 may be integrated into the article of luggage 12 for receiving voice commands from the user 19 and the microphone 146 may be electrically coupled to the processor 94 such that the processor 94 is facilitated to execute a variety of subroutines which correspond to verbal commands received from the user 19.

[0042] Continuing in the alternative embodiment 142, a plurality of actuators 148 may each be integrated into the article of luggage 12 and each of the plurality of actuators 148 is electrically coupled to the processor 94. Each of the actuators 148 is in mechanical communication with a respective one of the of the plurality of rollers 14 and each of the actuators 148 drives the respective roller 14. Furthermore, each of the plurality of actuators 148 is actuated in response to verbal commands received from the user 19, which may include but not be limited to the phrases come and move forward and move backward and stop and release brakes and apply brakes. The alternative embodiment 142 may also include a plurality of combination locks 150 that are attached to the outside wall 26 of the cover 22 which each releasably engages a respective one of plurality of engagements 152 that are located on the outer wall 30 of the body 20 for locking the article of luggage 12. The display 104 might be movably integrated into the forward wall 24 of the cover 22 and the display 104 may include actuators 154 that urge the display 104 between a retracted position having the display 104 being concealed in the article of luggage 12 and a deployed position. Furthermore, the display 104 might include a camera to facilitate facial recognition security measures which restrict functionality until the camera scans and recognizes the user's face.

[0043] In use, the article of luggage 12 is employed as carryon luggage for air travel and the communication unit 88 automatically connects to the extrinsic communication network 90 in the airport when the article of luggage 12 is within range of the extrinsic communication network 90. In this way the display 104 displays the departure times and arrival times and gate information for the scheduled flights thereby facilitating the user 19 to have up-to-date information regarding their flight. Additionally, the personal electronic device 92 can be synched with the communication unit 88 to stream audio through the speakers 112 or to stream video to the display 104. A digital video disk 108 can be inserted into the digital data reader 106 in order to view a motion picture on the display 104. Furthermore, various electronic devices can be plugged into the charge ports 132 for charging while the user 19 is waiting in the airport.
