Abstract
The present invention discloses a system and method for securing one or more combinable hair weft extensions to a user's head. The system comprises a first weft base and a second weft base, each provided with a plurality of wig hair extensions. The first weft base has a plurality of first fastening members and the second weft base has a plurality of second fastening members. Each one of the first fastening members is operatively associated with a corresponding one of the second fastening members so as to secure the second weft base to the first weft base. The first and second fastening members are arranged so as to provide a partial overlap between the first and second weft bases. The first weft base further includes a first securing mechanism for securing the first weft base to the user's head.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
[0019] Reference will be made in detail to the embodiments of the disclosed invention, examples of which are illustrated in the accompanying drawings. Similar reference characters denote similar elements throughout the several views. The presentation of reference numerals within parentheses indicates that the mentioned reference numeral appears in a figure other than the figure(s) under discussion.
[0020] As will be described below in connection with the drawings, the invention enables two (or more) hair weft extensions (see
[0021]
[0022] As illustrated in
[0023] There is provided a first securing mechanism for securing first weft base (20) to the user's head (and thereby securing first hair weft (12) individually, and hair weft assembly (10) in its entirety, to the user's head). In one embodiment, as illustrated in
[0024]
[0025] In one embodiment, filament (60) is adjustable in length, whereby the circumferential length of the above-described loop (formed by connecting first weft base (20) and filament (60)) is adjustable. Such adjustability may include cutting an initial, longer length of filament to a desirable, shorter length sufficient to securely fit hair weft assembly (10) to the user's head when worn. In another embodiment, filament (60) has a pre-determined fixed length. In either of the foregoing embodiments, the increasing or decreasing the size of the knot may change the circumferential length of the loop. Other methods known in the art may be adopted for adjusting the circumferential length of the loop as needed to provide a tight and secure fit for hair weft assembly (10) to the user's head.
[0026]
[0027] Each of filament 60 and clips 68 can individually secure first weft base (20) to the user's head. The benefit of providing both forms of the first securing mechanism is for added security. Accordingly, in another embodiment, first securing mechanism consists only of filament (60). In yet another embodiment, the first securing mechanism consists only of clips 68.

[0030]
[0031] In one embodiment, each one of first fastening members (70) is a male part and each one of the second fastening members (72) is a female part. In another embodiment, each one of first fastening members (70) is a female part and each one of the second fastening members (72) is a male part. In yet another embodiment, each one of first fastening members (70) may be a male part or a female part, provided that its corresponding second fastening member (72) is the opposite and thus complimentary part. In this embodiment, the first fastening members (70) may be a mixture or male and female parts (e.g., there are six first fastening members (70), of which three are male and three are female) and the corresponding second fastening members (72) are a mixture opposite to the first fastening members (70).
[0032] In one embodiment, first and second fastening members (70, 72) comprises any one of the following releasably detachable fastener mechanisms: (a) plastic interlocking fastener strips, such as having snap button according to any one of the combinations described in the preceding paragraph; (b) plastic interlocking fastener strips, each strip having a plurality of square, rectangular, circular, triangular, or other shaped male and/or female parts, in any arrangement according to any one of the combinations described in the preceding paragraph; (c) plastic interlocking fastener strips as described in U.S. Pat. No. 4,858,286, which is herein incorporated by reference in its entirety; (d) dimensionally flexible touch fastener strips as described in U.S. Pat. No. 8,745,827B2, which is herein incorporated by reference in its entirety; (e) snap button tape; (f) Velcro hook and loop fastener tape strips; (g) Kam snaps; and (h) hook and eye fasteners.

[0034]
[0035] In one embodiment, second hair weft (84) does not include a second securing mechanism, as the first securing mechanism is sufficient to retain hair weft assembly (80) to the user's head. In this embodiment, second hair weft (84) is attached by means of first and second fastening members (90, 100) to first weft base (84).
[0036] First and second fastening members (90, 100) operate according to the same principles as described above in connection with the embodiment(s) shown in
