Abstract
A gaming blanket device is disclosed, which is a blanket in conjunction with a hat designed to block out sunlight while trying to use an electronic device. The gaming blanket device comprises a blanket component that is configured to hang off the bill of a hat component to provide shade. The blanket component would be secured to the bill via hook and loop fasteners to prevent unwanted blanket movement, and to allow for easy user initiated adjusting. The blanket component is lightweight and keeps the user cool rather than providing warmth to prevent overheating. The hat bill makes it easy to work with the electronic device without the blanket component getting in the way of the screen, and thus does not interfere with playing games or watching videos. Accordingly, the device will shade the user's face and their electronic device screen to provide glare-free indoor and outdoor device usage.

It should be noted that the figures are described only to facilitate the description of the embodiments. They are not intended as an exhaustive description of the invention and do not limit the scope of the invention. Additionally, an illustrated embodiment need not have all the aspects or advantages shown. Thus, in other embodiments, any of the features described herein from different embodiments may be combined.
[0034] As noted above, there is a long felt need in the art for a gaming blanket device that provides users with a modified blanket designed to block out sunlight while using electronics. There is also a long felt need in the art for a gaming blanket device that includes a small hole or mesh opening in the front to maintain visibility through the blanket. Further, there is a long felt need in the art for a gaming blanket device that allows users to wear the blanket over the head in conjunction with an adjustable hat that supports the blanket over the wearer via hook and loop fasteners. Moreover, there is a long felt need in the art for a device that enables users to play video games or watch videos without worry of sunlight or overhead lights causing glare on the screen. Further, there is a long felt need in the art for a gaming blanket device that includes a blanket of lightweight material so as not to cause a user to overheat. Finally, there is a long felt need in the art for a gaming blanket device that is ideal for anyone ages five and up.
[0035] The present invention, in one exemplary embodiment, is a novel gaming blanket device. The present invention also includes a novel method of preventing glare while playing video games. The method includes the steps of providing a gaming blanket device comprising a blanket component secured to a hat component. The method also comprises adjusting the hat component to fit a user's head. Further, the method comprises securing the blanket component over the hat component and to the hat's bill via hook and loop fasteners. The method also comprises adjusting the blanket component so that the mesh opening is in the front of a user's face to maintain visibility. Finally, the method comprises playing video games glare-free while under the gaming blanket device.
[0036] Referring initially to the drawings,
[0037] Generally, the gaming blanket device 100 enables users to play video games or watch videos without worry of sunlight or overhead lights causing glare on the screen. Thus, the gaming blanket device 100 provides users 112 with a modified blanket designed to block out sunlight while using electronics. Specifically, the device 100 allows users 112 to wear the blanket over their head in conjunction with an adjustable hat that supports the blanket over the wearer via hook and loop fasteners.
[0038] Further, the gaming blanket device 100 comprises a blanket component 102. The blanket component 102 is lightweight and keeps the user 112 cool rather than providing warmth to prevent overheating. Thus, the blanket component 102 is breathable to keep a user 112 comfortable, but thick enough to keep out light, sunlight, etc.
[0039] Typically, the gaming blanket device 100 is manufactured from a lightweight material, such as cotton, polyester, microfiber, wool, fleece, cashmere, linen, etc., or any other suitable materials as is known in the art, or a combination of such materials. Further, the gaming blanket device 100 can be made of any suitable lightweight material which is appropriate to be worn by a user 112 and that blocks out sunlight and light.
[0040] As shown in
[0041] Further, the blanket component 102 comprises a mesh opening 206 or a small hole in the front 202 for a user 112 to see out of. Thus, in use, the mesh opening 206 is positioned right in front of a user's view, to maintain visibility through the blanket component 102. Accordingly, users 112 are able to walk and move around without hitting into objects, while wearing the blanket component 102 via looking out of the mesh opening 206. The mesh opening 206 is typically rectangular in shape and sized to accommodate both of the user's eyes, so as not impede a user's vision in any way.
[0042] As shown in
[0043] Further, the hat bill 106 is secured to the front 310 of the headband component 304 and extends outward from a user's head 300. Typically, along the hat bill 106 is included a plurality of hook and loop components 312, which secure to the blanket component 102, securing the blanket component 102 to the hat component 104. Thus, the blanket component 102 is secured to the hat bill 106 of the hat component 104 via hook and loop fasteners 312 to prevent unwanted blanket movement, and to allow for easy user 112 initiated adjusting. Accordingly, the hat bill 106 makes it easy to work with the electronic device 108 without the blanket component 102 getting in the way of the electronic screen 108.
[0044] Additionally, the hat component 104 includes a securing means (i.e., hook and loop fasteners 312) for securing the blanket component 102 to the hat bill 106. In this example, the securing means is hook and loop fasteners 312. However, one of ordinary skill in the art would appreciate that this securing means could be anything from hook and loop fasteners to button hole/button combinations, snaps, adhesives, or any combinations of the above securing means thereof.
[0045] Furthermore, the hat component 104 is merely an example of the type of article of clothing contemplated by this invention. Any suitable wearable means can be utilized to secure the blanket component 102 to a user's head 300 as is known in the art. Further, typically, the securing means (i.e., hook and loop fasteners 312) for securing the blanket component 102 to the hat bill 106 is located at the top 314 and sides 316 of the hat bill 106. However, other options for locations of the securing means (i.e., hook and loop fasteners 312) are contemplated by this present invention. For example, hook and loop fasteners 312 can be located anywhere on the hat component 104 (i.e., the headband component 304, the middle securing component 306, etc.) provided the hat component 104 is capable of being detachably attachable or secured to the blanket component 102 during storage or during use.
[0046] As shown in
[0047] In yet another embodiment, the gaming blanket device 100 comprises a plurality of indicia 500. The blanket component 102 of the device 100 may include advertising, a trademark, or other letters, designs, or characters, printed, painted, stamped, or integrated into the blanket component 102, or any other indicia 500 as is known in the art. Specifically, any suitable indicia 500 as is known in the art can be included, such as but not limited to, patterns, logos, emblems, images, symbols, designs, letters, words, characters, animals, advertisements, brands, etc., that may or may not be blanket, video game, or brand related.
[0048] In operation, a user 112 would adjust the hat component 104 onto their head 300 via the buckles and straps 308. Then, the blanket component 102 is positioned over a user's head 300, such that it drapes around a user's shoulders 204 and lays shorter in the front 202 and longer in the back 200. In position, the mesh opening 206 is situated in front 202 of a user's view, to maintain visibility through the blanket component 102. Further, the blanket component 102 is then secured via hook and loop fasteners 312 to the hat bill 106, such that it drapes down over the user's face 110 but does not impede use of the electronic game 108 in the user's hands. Thus, the device 100 will shade the user's face 110 and their electronic device screen 108 to provide glare-free indoor and outdoor electronic device usage.
