    Abstract

A fishing line untwisting device clips or snaps onto the end of the fishing line, and provides weight in such a manner that a twisted line would tend to untwist while being reeled in by the user. The device is small, simple to use, and inexpensive.

    Claims

    1. A fishing line untwisting device, comprising: two spinner arms and a central clamp; said central clamp including an aperture through which the device may be attached to a fishing line such that a tangled fishing line is untwisted as the fishing line is drawn through the aperture.

    2. The fishing line untwisting device of claim 1, wherein the spinner arms are asymmetric such that the device spins around the fishing line when drawn through water.

    3. The fishing line untwisting device of claim 1, wherein the aperture is six one-hundredths of an inch in diameter.

    4. The fishing line untwisting device of claim 2, wherein the aperture is six one-hundredths of an inch in diameter.

    5. The fishing line untwisting device of claim 1, wherein the spinner arms present an asymmetric configuration which creates a spinning motion, causing the fishing line to untwist as the device is drawn through the water.

    6. The fishing line untwisting device of claim 2, wherein the spinner arms present an asymmetric configuration which creates a spinning motion, causing the fishing line to untwist as the device is drawn through the water.

    7. The fishing line untwisting device of claim 3, wherein the spinner arms present an asymmetric configuration which creates a spinning motion, causing the fishing line to untwist as the device is drawn through the water.

    8. The fishing line untwisting device of claim 4, wherein the spinner arms present an asymmetric configuration which creates a spinning motion, causing the fishing line to untwist as the device is drawn through the water.

    9. The fishing line untwisting device of claim 1, wherein the device is one of a small size weighing one-sixteenth of an ounce, a medium size weighing between three-eighths of an ounce and one-half of an ounce, or a large size weighing between one and a half ounces and two ounces.

    10. The fishing line untwisting device of claim 2, wherein the device is one of a small size weighing one-sixteenth of an ounce, a medium size weighing between three-eighths of an ounce and one-half of an ounce, or a large size weighing between one and a half ounces and two ounces.

    11. The fishing line untwisting device of claim 5, wherein the device is one of a small size weighing one-sixteenth of an ounce, a medium size weighing between three-eighths of an ounce and one-half of an ounce, or a large size weighing between one and a half ounces and two ounces.

    12. The fishing line untwisting device of claim 6, wherein the device is one of a small size weighing one-sixteenth of an ounce, a medium size weighing between three-eighths of an ounce and one-half of an ounce, or a large size weighing between one and a half ounces and two ounces.

    13. The fishing line untwisting device of claim 7, wherein the device is one of a small size weighing one-sixteenth of an ounce, a medium size weighing between three-eighths of an ounce and one-half of an ounce, or a large size weighing between one and a half ounces and two ounces.

    14. The fishing line untwisting device of claim 8, wherein the device is one of a small size weighing one-sixteenth of an ounce, a medium size weighing between three-eighths of an ounce and one-half of an ounce, or a large size weighing between one and a half ounces and two ounces.

    Description

    BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

[0016] The accompanying drawings are included to provide a further understanding of the invention and are incorporated into and constitute a part of the specification. They illustrate one embodiment of the invention and, together with the description, serves to explain the principles of the invention.

[0017] FIG. 1 is a front view of the first exemplary embodiment, displaying the device 10, the spinner arms 11, the clamp 12, and the fishing line 13.

[0018] FIG. 2 is a side view of the first exemplary embodiment, displaying the device 10, the spinner arm 11, the clamp 12, and the fishing line 13.

    DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

[0019] Referring now to the invention in more detail, the invention is directed to a fishing line untwisting device 10. The device 10 clips or snaps onto the end of the fishing line 13, and provides weight in such a manner that a twisted fishing line 13 would tend to untwist while being reeled in by the user. The device 10 is small, simple to use, and inexpensive.

[0020] The first exemplary embodiment provides a device 10, which is comprised of two spinner arms 11 and a central clamp 12, which is used to affix the device 10 to the fishing line 13 and an aperture 14 through which to thread the fishing line 13. The aperture is preferably six one-hundredths of an inch in diameter. The spinner arms 11 present an asymmetric configuration which creates a spinning motion, causing the fishing line 13 to untwist as the device 13 is drawn through the water. The device is preferably provided in three sizes. The small size is preferably one-sixteenth ounce in weight, the medium size is preferably three-eighths to one-half ounce in weight, and the large size is preferably one and one-half to two ounces in weight.

[0021] To use the first exemplary embodiment, the user affixes the device 10 on the fishing line 13, using the clamp 12. The user then casts the fishing line 13 and reels it in, allowing the device 10 to spin. The spinning action untwists the fishing line 13.

[0022] The device 10 is preferably manufactured from a rigid, durable material which is waterproof and easily cleaned, such as plastic, aluminum alloy, or brass.

[0023] Components, component sizes, and materials listed above are preferable, but artisans will recognize that alternate components and materials could be selected without altering the scope of the invention.

[0024] While the foregoing written description of the invention enables one of ordinary skill to make and use what is presently considered to be the best mode thereof, those of ordinary skill in the art will understand and appreciate the existence of variations, combinations, and equivalents of the specific embodiment, method, and examples herein. The invention should, therefore, not be limited by the above described embodiment, method, and examples, but by all embodiments and methods within the scope and spirit of the invention.
