PILLOW APPARATUS COMPRISING A WEDGE PILLOW AND AN OBJECT PILLOW STAND

Abstract

A pillow apparatus is disclosed. The pillow apparatus includes a wedge pillow. The pillow apparats includes an object support stand. The pillow apparatus includes a support structure connecting the wedge pillow and the object support stand. The wedge pillow positions at the back of a user allowing the user to rest against the wedge pillow. The user positions the object support stand over his lap or stomach to place an object facing said wedge pillow. The object includes one of a laptop, mobile phone and a book. The support structure helps to stabilize the object support stand when the user sits or lies down while the object support stand is placed on the lap or stomach.

Claims

1. A pillow apparatus, comprising: a wedge pillow; an object support stand; and a support structure connecting said wedge pillow an said object support stand, wherein said wedge pillow supports a user to rest his back, wherein said object support stand positions over the user to place an object facing said wedge pillow, and wherein said support structure helps to stabilize said object support stand when the user sits or lies down

2. The pillow apparatus of Claim 1, wherein said wedge pillow comprises a first pillow and a second pillow, wherein said first pillow acts as a base pillow, and wherein said second pillow positions at an inclination angle of approximately 30 to 60 degrees with respect to said first pillow.

3. The pillow apparatus of Claim 2, wherein said wedge pillow comprises a headrest, and wherein said headrest positions at a top of said second pillow.

4. The pillow apparatus of Claim 3, wherein said second pillow comprises a first loop, wherein said headrest comprises a strap connecting said first loop to connect said headrest to said second pillow.

5. The pillow apparatus of Claim 1, wherein said support structure comprises a buckle mechanism.

6. The pillow apparatus of Claim 1, wherein said support structure comprises a hook and loop mechanism.

[0024] FIG. 1 shows an environment 10 in which a pillow apparatus 12 implements, in accordance with one embodiment of the present invention. Pillow apparatus 12 is used by a user 14 to support his back 16 while also placing an object support stand on his lap 18 for keeping an object 19. An example of object 19 includes a tablet, mobile phone, display device, or any other electronic device. Optionally, object 19 includes a book, newspaper or any other reading material/article.

[0025] FIG. 2 shows a side perspective view of pillow apparatus 12, in accordance with one embodiment of the present invention. Pillow apparatus 12 includes a wedge pillow 20 and an object support stand 22. Wedge pillow 20 indicates a back pillow capable of allowing user 14 to position at an inclined angle and support his/her lower or upper back, as shown in FIG. 1. Wedge pillow 20 includes a first pillow 24 and a second pillow 26. First pillow 24 comes in a triangular configuration and acts as a base pillow or base cushion. Second pillow 26 comes in a triangular or curved configuration. Second pillow 26 positions above a surface such as a bed and above first pillow 24 at an angle of 30 to 60 degrees to support a gradual or steep slope, which allows user 14 to rest against his/her back 16, as shown in FIG. 2. Further, second pillow 26 includes one or more first loops 28. First loops 28 position at the top on each side of second pillow 26. In one exemplary embodiment, second pillow 26 includes a headrest 30. Headrest 30 mounts at the top of second pillow 26 and helps user 14 to rest his/her head. In one example, headrest 30 includes a first strap 32. First strap 32 extends from one or both sides of headrest 30 and connects to second pillow 26 at first loop 28. User 14 adjusts the position of headrest 30 with respect to second pillow 26 using first strap 32 and first loop 28. In one exemplary embodiment, user 14 rests against wedge pillow 20 without the need for headrest 30 depending on the need or comfort presented by wedge pillow 20. Further, second pillow 26 includes a second loop 34 at the bottom.

[0026] Further, pillow apparatus 12 includes object support stand 22, as shown in FIG. 2. Object support stand 22 includes a triangular member 36 with a support member 38. Here, triangular member 36 indicates a cushion or pillow or soft article that comes in triangular or any other suitable configuration. Support member 38 extends from the bottom of triangular member 36 facing wedge pillow 20. Support member 38 comes in a variety of shapes and sizes, including but not limited to, a hook-like configuration, flat configuration, U-shaped configuration. Support member 38 helps to rest object 19 against the surface of triangular member 36 facing wedge pillow 20, as shown in FIG. 1. Object support stand 22 positions at a suitable distance from wedge pillow 20 forming a gap 39 such that user 14 user's body can draw through and place triangular member 36 over his/her lap 18 and wedge pillow 20 behind his/her back 16.

[0027] In accordance with one embodiment of the present invention, pillow apparatus 12 includes a support structure 40. Support structure 40 helps to connect wedge pillow 20 (i.e., second pillow 26) and triangular member 36 and keep them in place. Support structure 40 includes a strap member 42 made of rigid or flexible material. Strap member 42 has a first end 44, and a second end 46. First end 44 positions near triangular member 36 and second end 46 positions near second pillow 26. Further, strap member 42 has a first connecting member 48 at first end 44. First connecting member 48 includes one of a D-ring, strap, hook and loop, and any other connecting mechanism. Furthermore, strap member 42 has a second connecting member 50. Second connecting member 50 includes one of a D-ring, strap, hook and loop, and any other connecting mechanism. In one example, second connecting member 50 connects to second loop 34, as can be seen from FIG. 2.

[0028] In other embodiments, the support structure 40 may be made by two pieces overlapping each other where those two pieces are adjustable and may be adjusted for the user to either place the support stand 22 on their legs or stomach. The benefit of the adjustable support structure 40 is that a tall or short user may adjust the support stand 22 to their liking.

[0029] In operation, user 14 places wedge pillow 20 at his/her back 16. Further, user 14 places object support stand 22 over his/her lap or stomach 18. Subsequently, user 14 connects support structure 40 to object support stand 22 and second pillow 26 and adjusts the length of the support structure 40. After connecting, user 14 places object 19 such as a laptop at support member 38 against triangular member 36, as shown in FIG. 1. Support structure 40 stabilizes the position of triangular member 36 with second pillow 26 and allows object 19 to be placed on support member 38 without the need for user 14 to hold object 19 with his/her hands.

[0030] FIG. 3 shows a side perspective view of a pillow apparatus 100, in accordance with one embodiment of the present invention. Pillow apparatus 100 includes a wedge pillow 102 and an object support stand 104. Wedge pillow 102 indicates a back pillow capable of allowing a user to position at an inclined angle and support his/her lower or upper back. Wedge pillow 102 includes a first pillow 106 and a second pillow 108. First pillow 106 comes in a triangular configuration and acts as a base pillow or base cushion. Second pillow 108 comes in a triangular or curved configuration. Second pillow 108 positions above a surface such as a bed and above first pillow 106 at an angle of 30 to 60 degrees to support a gradual or steep slope, which allows the user to rest against his/her back. Further, second pillow 108 includes one or more first loops 110. First loops 110 position at the top and bottom on each side of second pillow 108. In one exemplary embodiment, second pillow 108 includes a headrest 112. Headrest 112 mounts at the top of second pillow 108 and helps the user to rest his/her head. In one example, headrest 112 includes a first strap 114. First strap 114 extends from one or both sides of headrest 112 and connects to second pillow 108 at first loop 110. The user adjusts the position of headrest 112 with respect to second pillow 108 using first strap 114 and first loop 110. In one exemplary embodiment, the user rests against wedge pillow 102 without the need for headrest 112 depending on the need or comfort presented by wedge pillow 112.

[0031] Further, pillow apparatus 100 includes object support stand 104. Object support stand 104 includes a triangular member 115 with a support member 116. Here, triangular member 115 indicates a cushion or pillow or soft article that comes in triangular or any other suitable configuration. Support structure 120 helps to connect wedge pillow 102 and triangular member 115 and keep them in place. As can be seen, support structure 120 extends from both sides of wedge pillow 102 and triangular member 115. Support structure 120 includes a first strap member 122 extending from second pillow 108. First strap member 122 has a male member 124 at its distal end. In one example, first strap member 122 has a D-ring 126 to adjust the length of first strap member 122. Furthermore, Support structure 120 includes a second strap member 128 extending from triangular member 115. Second strap member 128 has a female member 130 at its distal end. Male member 124 inserts in female member 130 to connect first strap member 122 and second strap member 128. A person skilled in the art understands that support structure 120 presents a buckle mechanism.

[0033] In operation, the user places wedge pillow 102 at his/her back. Further, the user places object support stand 104 over his/her lap or stomach while sitting or lying down. Subsequently, the user connects support structure 120 to object support stand 104 and wedge pillow 102 and adjusts the length of the support structure 120. After connecting, the user places the object such as a laptop at support member 116 against triangular member 115. Support structure 120 stabilizes the position of triangular member 115 with second pillow 108 and allows the object to be placed on support member 116 without the need for the user to hold the object with his/her hands.

[0034] The presently disclosed apparatus provides several advantages over the prior art. The apparatus presents a support structure such as a strap for connecting the existing front pillow (lap pillow) and back pillow (wedge pillow). The support structure helps to stabilize the object support stand when the user places the object support stand on his/her lap or stomach while sitting or lying down. Here, the user puts on the object support stand/lap pillow on his/her stomach/lap and the object support stand is attached to the wedge pillow via the support structure such that the user can place a book or tablet and read the book without using your hands.
