HAT WITH EXTENDABLE VISOR

Abstract

A baseball cap having a head portion and a visor wherein the visor is movably between a first position and a second position. The visor of the baseball cap of the present invention is movable between a first position and a second position. In the first position the rearward edge of the visor is adjacent the front of the head portion of the baseball cap. In its second position, the visor has been slidably traversed along the visor extension member so as to be distal to the front of the head portion. The visor is slidably coupled to the visor extension member and is movable to alternate points therealong. The visor has operably coupled thereto a control wire and a control knob that are utilized to return the visor to its first position subsequent being placed in its second position.

Claims

1. A baseball cap comprising: a head portion, said head portion being dome shaped, said head portion having a front, said head portion having a cavity configured to receive a head therein; a visor, said visor being operably coupled to said head portion proximate a front thereof, said visor having a rearward edge, said visor extending outward from said head portion, said visor being movably mounted on a visor extension member, said visor extension member being mounted to said head portion, said visor extension member being perpendicular to said head portion extending outward therefrom; and wherein said visor is movable between a first position and a second position along said visor extension member.

2. The baseball cap as recited in claim 1, wherein in said first position said rearward edge of said visor is adjacent the front of the head portion.

3. The baseball cap as recited in claim 2, wherein in said second position, said visor is moved away from said front of said head portion extending outward from said visor extension member.

4. The baseball cap as recited in claim 3, and further including a control knob, said control knob be mounted on a rear area of said head portion.

5. The baseball cap as recited in claim 4, and further including a control wire, said control wire being operably coupled to said control knob and said visor, said control wire configured to facilitate movement of the visor from the second position to the first position.

[0021] Referring in particular to the Figures submitted herewith, the baseball cap 100 includes a head portion 10 wherein the head portion 10 is dome shaped having a cavity that is configured to receive a human head therein. The head portion 10 is manufactured from a suitable durable material and it should be understood within the scope of the present invention that the head portion 10 is adjustable so as to accommodate alternate sizes of human heads. It is further understood within the scope of the present invention that the head portion 10 could be provided in numerous colors and further be provided with various marketing indicia imprinted thereon.

[0022] Secured the to the head portion 10 proximate the front 11 thereof is the visor 20. The visor 20 is movably coupled to the head portion 10 on the visor extension member 30. The visor 20 is manufactured from a suitable durable material and is movable between a first position and a second position. The visor 20 is configured to be slidably coupled to the visor extension member 30. The visor extension member 30 is operably coupled to the head portion 10 being perpendicular thereto extending outward therefrom. In its first position the rearward edge 21 of the visor 20 is adjacent the front 11 of the head portion 10. In its second position, as is illustrated in FIG. 2 submitted herewith, the visor 20 has been slidably traversed on the visor extension member 30 wherein the rearward edge 21 is distally located from the front 11 of the head portion 10. In the second position the visor 20 in combination with the visor extension member 30 provides a greater combined length than the visor 20 in its first position so as to increase shade coverage for the face of the wearer of the baseball cap 100. It should be further understood within the scope of the present invention that the visor 20 can be bent downwards subsequent being in its second position wherein the visor 20 is in a position so as to provide privacy and/or protection for the face of the wearer of the baseball cap 100. It should be understood within the scope of the present invention that the visor 20 could be manufactured from various materials in order to achieve the desired functionality as described herein. Furthermore, it should be understood within the scope of the present invention that the visor 20 could be slidably coupled to the visor extension member 30 employing alternate techniques and/or elements.

[0023] The baseball cap 100 includes a control knob 40 wherein the control knob 40 is operably coupled to visor 20 via control wire 45. The control knob 40 is operably coupled to the rear of the head portion 10 and provides operation of the control wire 45. Ensuing movement of the visor 20 to its second position, the wearer of the baseball cap 100 employs the control knob 40 to return the visor 20 to its first position. The control knob 40 is rotated so as to retract the visor 20 utilizing the control wire 45 operably coupled thereto. While a control knob 40 and control wire 45 are illustrated and discussed herein for operation of the movement of the visor 20, it is contemplated within the scope of the present invention that the visor 20 could have the movements thereof controlled utilizing alternate elements and/or techniques.
