DETAILED DESCRIPTION
[0019] The following description is of exemplary embodiments of the invention and is not intended to limit the scope, applicability, or configuration of the invention. Rather, the following description is intended to provide a convenient illustration for implementing various embodiments of the invention. As will become apparent, various changes may be made in the function and arrangement of the elements described in these embodiments without departing from the scope of the invention as set forth herein. It should be appreciated that the description herein may be adapted to be employed with alternatively configured devices having different shapes, components, attachment mechanisms, and the like and still fall within the scope of the present invention. Thus, the detailed description herein is presented for purposes of illustration only and not for limitation.
[0020] Reference in the specification to one embodiment or an embodiment is intended to indicate that a particular feature, structure, or characteristic described in connection with the embodiment is included in at least an embodiment of the invention. The appearances of the phrase in one embodiment or an embodiment in various places in the specification are not necessarily all referring to the same embodiment.
[0021] A flexible wearable finger ring assembly with a detachable metallic ornament will now be described with reference to accompanying drawings, particularly
[0022] Referring to
[0023] The circular band portion 101 is made of silicon according to a preferred embodiment of the present invention. In some other embodiment, the circular band portion 101 may be made of other polymer or flexible material such as rubber. The circular band portion 101 has a predefined thickness and width. The thickness and width may be in the order of a few millimeters preferably a millimeter or two millimeters. The circular band portion 101 defines a substantially circular interior space 101a that is shaped and sized to fit around one of the fingers of the person wearing the finger ring 100. The interior surface 101b of the circular band portion 101 faces the interior space 101a and has a smooth finish that provides comfort to the skin of the finger on which the ring 100 is placed. The exterior surface 101c of the circular band portion 101 is smooth too, according to the preferred embodiment. In some alternative embodiments, the exterior surface 101c may have various designs and patterns to further enhance the aesthetics of the ring 100.
[0024] Further as seen in
[0025] In an embodiment, referring to
[0026] As seen, the top wall 102a of the metallic ornament 102 is made substantially smooth and curved in
[0027] In some other embodiment, it may be possible that the top wall 102a of the metallic ornament 102 as shown configured in
[0028] In some other embodiment, the top wall 102a of the metallic ornament 102 may include a slot or a recessed area to support a precious stone/gemstone such as emerald 103 as seen in
[0029] Further, in an embodiment, as seen in
[0030] In the foregoing description, an engagement process is described for a single piece or unitary metallic ornament 102 to engage with the notched portion 101f. It should be understood that the metallic ornament 102 may be configured in two or more pieces as well. In an example embodiment, the top wall 102a may be one piece, and the side walls 102b,102c may be connected to a bottom wall (not seen) as configured as another unitary piece. These two pieces may be connected using various connecting mechanisms for example but not limited to snap fit, magnetism, and so on to connect to each other over the notched portion 101f such that the notched portion 101f gets retained within the retaining space 102g. In this configuration, the opening 102f is not present since the flaps 102d, and 102e are merged or conjoined together to form the bottom wall.
[0031] The circular band portion 101 of the ring is flexible and made using suitable material such as silicon, rubber, etc with detachable metallic ornament 102 attached thereto as explained above. The flexibility of the material facilitates the ring 100 with stretchability making it fit the finger and rip if caught, avoiding any injury usually while using traditional metallic rings. The flexibility rendered by the ring makes the ring suitable for workouts. The proposed ring assembly may also be usable for gyms, nurses, pregnant women, weightlifting, etc.
[0032] Finally, while the present invention has been described above with reference to various exemplary embodiments, many changes, combinations, and modifications may be made to the exemplary embodiments without departing from the scope of the present invention. For example, the various components may be implemented in alternative ways. These alternatives can be suitably selected depending upon the particular application or in consideration of any number of factors associated with the design and operation of the device. In addition, the techniques described herein may be extended or modified for use with other types of devices. These and other changes or modifications are intended to be included within the scope of the present invention.
