    (j) DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

[0019] With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to FIGS. 1 through 7 thereof, a new scoreboard device embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by the reference numeral 10 will be described.

[0020] As best illustrated in FIGS. 1 through 7, the peg scoreboard assembly 10 generally comprises a pegboard 12 that has a series of wells 14 each extending into the pegboard 12 and the series of wells 14 are strategically arranged into a plurality of groups 16 on the pegboard 12. In this way the series of wells 14 represent points that can be achieved in the game of dominos. Additionally, the pegboard 12 has a storage compartment 20 that is integrated into the pegboard 12. The pegboard 12 has a top surface 22, a bottom surface 24 and an outer surface 26 extending between the top surface 22 and the bottom surface 24. The pegboard 12 is elongated between a front side 28 and a back side 30 of the outer surface 26 and each of the series of wells 14 extends into the top surface 22. The pegboard may have a length ranging between approximately 30.0 cm and 35.0 cm and a width ranging between approximately 5.0 cm and 10.0 cm.

[0021] The plurality of groups 16 are spaced apart from each other and are distributed along a line extending between the front side 28 and the back side 30 of the outer surface 26. Additionally, each of the plurality of groups 16 includes a plurality of columns 32 of the wells 14 which are spaced apart from each other and are distributed along a ling extending between a first lateral side 34 and a second lateral side 36 of the outer surface 26. The series of wells 14 includes a lower row 38 of the plurality of wells 14 and an upper row 40 of the plurality of wells 14. Each of the lower row 38 and the upper row 40 extends along the line which extends between the first lateral side 34 and the second lateral side 36. The upper row 40 is positioned between an uppermost one of the plurality of groups 42 and the front side 28 of the outer surface 26 and the lower row 38 is positioned between a lowermost one of the plurality of groups 44 and the back side 30 of the outer surface 26.

[0022] The pegboard 12 has indicia 46 that are applied to the top surface 22 of the pegboard 12 and the indicia 46 comprise the word up 48 and the word down 50. The word up 48 is positioned between the upper row 40 and the front side 28 of the outer surface 26 and the word down 50 is positioned between the lower row 38 and the back side 30 of the outer surface 26. In this way the indicia 46 facilitate players 51 of the game of dominos to identity the beginning and the end of the series of wells 14 with respect to the keeping score of the game of dominos. The pegboard 12 has a storage well 52 extending into the second lateral side 36 of the outer surface 26 such that the storage well 52 defines the storage compartment 20 in the pegboard 12. The storage well 52 is positioned closer to the front side 28 than the back side 30 of the outer surface 26. The storage well 52 has a lateral bounding surface 54 and the lateral bounding surface 54 has a threaded portion 56 which extends from the second lateral side 36 of the outer surface 26 toward a lower bounding surface 58 of the storage well 52.

[0023] A plurality of pegs 60 is provided and each of the plurality of pegs 60 is removably stored in the storage compartment 20. Each of the plurality pegs 60 is removable from the storage compartment 20 prior to commencing a game of dominos. Furthermore, each of the plurality of pegs 60 is assigned to a respective player 51 of the game of dominos. Each of the plurality of pegs 60 is insertable into a respective one of the series of wells 14 during game play. The peg 60 assigned to each player is moved along a number of the series of wells 14 which corresponds to a score achieved by a respective player 51 during each of the respective player 51's round of dominos. In this way the peg 60 assigned to each player facilitates each player to track their score during the game of dominos.

[0024] Each of the plurality of pegs 60 is insertable into a respective one of the series of wells 14 in the lower row 38 of the series of wells 14 at the beginning of the game of dominos. Continuing, the peg 60 assigned to a respective player 51 is moved a number of the series of wells 14 which corresponds to a score achieved by the respective player 51 starting from the lower row 38 toward the upper row 40 until the peg 60 assigned to the respective player 51 is positioned in a respective one of the series of wells 14 in the upper row 40. In this way the peg 60 assigned to the respective player 51 indicates that the respective player 51 has won the game of dominos. Additionally, each of the plurality of pegs 60 is placed in the storage well 52 for storage when the plurality of pegs 60 is not is employed.

[0025] A cap 62 is provided which is removably attachable to the pegboard 12 such that the cap 62 closes the storage compartment 20 for retaining the plurality of pegs 60 in the storage compartment 20. The cap 62 has a head 64 and a stem 66 extending away from a bottom surface 24 of the head 64 and the head 64 has an outside surface 68 which has a plurality of intersecting sides 70 such that the head 64 has a polygonal shape. Additionally, the stem 66 has an exterior surface 72 which is threaded. The stem 66 is insertable into the storage well 52 having the exterior surface 72 threadably engaging the lateral bounding surface 54 of the storage well 52 until the bottom surface 24 of the head 64 abuts the second lateral side 36 of the outer surface 26 of the pegboard 12 for closing the storage well 52.

[0026] In use, the cap 62 is removed from the storage well 52 and a number of pegs 60 are removed from the storage well 52 that corresponds to the number of players 51 of the game of dominos. Each of the pegs 60 is assigned to a respective player 51 and each of the pegs 60 is inserted into a respective one of the lower row of wells 38 to commence the game of dominos. The peg 60 assigned to a respective player 51 is moved a number of the series of wells 14 which corresponds to a score achieved by the respective player 51 to track the total score of the respective player 51. Furthermore, the player whose peg 60 reaches the upper row of wells 40 first wins the game of dominos. In this way the pegs 60 and the pegboard 12 facilitate the score of each player to be tracked during the game of dominos in a manner that reduces the likelihood of cheating which can occur when the score is written down as is commonly practiced while playing dominos. The pegs 60 are replaced in the storage well 52 and the cap 62 is replaced in the storage well 52 when the game of dominos is completed.

[0027] With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.

[0028] Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word comprising is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article a does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
