Abstract
A system for storing fishing related accessories and equipment. The storage system is configured to retain and secure the fishing related accessories and equipment in close proximity to an angler while fishing for use on demand. A cylindrical body having a center bore opens to receive and encapsulate a railing or other structural member of a boat or dock and is then secured in place via a plurality of cinch straps. Transition members may be used to connect fishing equipment or equipment holders to the straps. Retractable clips can also be used to connect fishing equipment or equipment holders to the straps. Fishing tools can be fixedly or retractable clipped to the cylindrical body for easy manipulation without fear of dropping the tools in the water.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION
[0028] The innovation is now described with reference to the drawings, wherein like reference numerals are used to refer to like elements throughout. In the following description, for purposes of explanation, numerous specific details are set forth in order to provide a thorough understanding thereof. It may be evident, however, that the innovation can be practiced without these specific details. In other instances, well-known structures and devices are shown in block diagram form in order to facilitate a description thereof. Various embodiments are discussed hereinafter. It should be noted that the figures are described only to facilitate the description of the embodiments. They do not intend as an exhaustive description of the invention or do not limit the scope of the invention. Additionally, an illustrated embodiment need not have all the aspects or advantages shown. Thus, in other embodiments, any of the features described herein from different embodiments may be combined.
[0029] The present invention, in one exemplary embodiment, provides users with a tube-like storage mechanism for fishing tools and accessories. The storage apparatus can attach directly to a boat rail via hook and loop fastener strap system and includes several eyelets and retractable clips to hold tools and accessories. The storage device allows users to secure items to each clip and keep them in an easily accessible position while fishing. The storage device enables users to simply slide the tube over a fishing rod for storage once an excursion is finished. The present invention offers a convenient way for anglers to store fishhook pliers, a towel, a cup holder, hooks and weights, bait, and the like.
[0030] A storage system is comprised of a tubular shape body with several hook and loop fastener straps, eyelets, and retractable clips is configured to retain and secure the fishing related accessories and equipment in close proximity to an angler while fishing for use on demand. The tube shaped body can be strapped directly to a boat railing or other structural member of a boat or dock via the hook and loop fastener straps. Each strap can have an eyelet and retractable clip to hold desired tools and accessories like bait buckets, fish towels, fishhook pliers, a cup or snack holder, hooks and weights, and the like. Users can easily store and access their fishing related items and equipment while fishing without fear of dropping the tools in the water. When finished, the tubular shape body can be at least partially slid over a fishing rod for storage.
[0031] Referring initially to the drawings,
[0032] As illustrated in
[0033] The cylindrical body 110 is generally flexible and compressible. The cylindrical body 110 is typically manufactured from a buoyant plastic, a memory material, or a compressed or closed cell foam, such as a foam noodle. The cylindrical body 110 may also be reflective, luminescent, or fluorescent. The center bore 116 is sized and configured to encapsulate a rail or bar, such as a railing on a boat or a dock. To encapsulate the rail or bar, the horizontal slit 118 is spread apart creating a temporary wider opening exposing the center bore 116 as illustrated in
[0034] As illustrated in
[0035] As illustrated in
[0036] The storage system 100 may further comprise a plurality of transition members 140. The plurality of transition members 140 may be carabiners, coupling links, D-rings, snap hooks, or other similar securing attachment hardware. Each transition member 140 is configured to attach or clip to one of the plurality of strap members 130. Each transition members 140 is attachable directly to the respective attachment element 124 of the respective strap member 130. Fishing related accessories and equipment may then be directly connected to the cylindrical body 110 via the plurality of transition members 130. Additionally, any of the plurality of fishing accessory holders 160 may be directly connected to the cylindrical body 110 by the plurality of transition members 140.
[0037] The storage system 100 may further comprise a plurality of retracting members 150. The plurality of retracting members 150 may be retractable clips, reels, or cords. Each retracting member 150 is configured to attach to one of the plurality of strap members 130. Each retracting member 150 is attachable directly to the respective attachment element 134 of the respective strap member 130. Additionally, each retracting member 150 is attachable to the respective attachment element 134 via one of the transition members 140. Each retracting member 150 comprises an attachment point 152 configured to attach to and secure either one of the plurality of fishing accessory holders 160 or directly to fishing related accessories and equipment, such as, but not limited to bait buckets, cleaning towels, snack holders, drink holders, fishing tackle, or pliers as further illustrated in
[0038] As illustrated in
