Similarly, the terms inwardly, outwardly and radially generally refer to the orientation of a surface relative to its axis of elongation, or axis of rotation, as appropriate. As used herein, the term proximate refers to positions that are situated close/near in relationship to a structure. As used in the following description, the term distal refers to positions that are situated away from positions.
[0033] The present disclosure includes many aspects and features. Moreover, while many aspects and features relate to, and are described in the context of cleaning mitts, embodiments of the present disclosure are not limited to use only in this context.
[0034] The present invention is a cleaning mitt that is specifically designed to clean automobiles. It is an aim of the present invention to provide a cleaning mitt that is simple in structure, inexpensive to manufacture, and easy to use. It is another aim of the present invention to provide a cleaning apparatus that incorporates scrubbing and scratch-less wiping. It is yet another aim of the present invention to provide a cleaning apparatus that eliminates the need for repeatedly dipping the wash mitt into the soapy solution in a bucket.
[0035] Referring now to the figures of the present disclosure, the cleaning mitt of the present invention comprises a body portion 100. It should be noted that the body portion 100 can be of any shape, size, material, features, type or kind, orientation, location, quantity, components, and arrangements of components that would allow the present invention to fulfill the objectives and intents of the present invention. In one embodiment, the body portion 100 comprises a proximal end 102, a distal end 104, a front surface 106, and a rear surface 108. Moreover, the body portion 100 defines an interior space 140 to accommodate a hand of a user. The body portion 100 further comprises a first finger portion 120 and a second finger portion 130 that both extend from the distal end 104 of the body portion 100 to form a purlicue area between the first finger portion 120 and the second finger portion 130. In this embodiment, the first finger portion 120 may be configured to accommodate the thumb of the user, while the second finger portion 130 may be configured to accommodate other fingers of the user (e.g., index finger, middle finger, etc.), or vice versa. This configuration will allow the user to easily bring the thumb and index finger together, so as to reach tighter areas with ease. In one embodiment, the first finger portion 120 has a first width w1, and the second finger portion 130 has a second width w2. The second width w2 is greater than the first width w1.
[0036] In one embodiment, the first finger portion 120 and the second finger portion 130 may be tapered outwardly from the distal end 104 of the body portion 100. In another preferred embodiment, the distal ends of the first finger portion 120 and the second finger portion 130 are chamfered, as best shown in
[0037] The front surface 106 of the body portion 100 is provided with a first cleaning element 107. In a preferred embodiment, the first cleaning element 107 is made from soft, absorbent materials. In one embodiment, the first cleaning element 107 comprises microfiber strands. In another embodiment, the first cleaning element 107 is made from synthetic wool. The rear surface 108 of the body portion 100 is opposite to the front surface 106 of the body portion 100. The rear surface 108 of the body portion 100 is provided with a second cleaning element 109. In one embodiment, the second cleaning element 109 is made from abrasive scrubbing materials configured to scrub tough spots away. In a preferred embodiment, the second cleaning element 109 comprises meshing fabric. In one embodiment, the body portion 100 further comprises two opposite side surfaces 110, and the side surfaces 110 are both provided with the first cleaning element 107. In another embodiment, the side surfaces 110 are both provided with the second cleaning element 109. In yet another embodiment, one of the side surfaces 110 may be provided with the first cleaning element 107, and the other one of the side surfaces 110 may be provided with the second cleaning element 109. It should be noted that although the illustrated embodiment shows that the first cleaning element 107 is provided on the front surface 106 and the second cleaning element 109 is provided on the rear surface 108, it should be noted that the second cleaning element 109 may be provided on the front surface 106 and the first cleaning element 107 may be provided on the rear surface 108. In one embodiment, the front surface 106 and rear surface 108 may comprise the same cleaning element, i.e., the first cleaning element 107 or the second cleaning element 109.
[0038] Preferably, the present invention further comprises a detergent-dispensing mechanism 150. The detergent-dispensing mechanism 150 comprises a detergent-dispensing layer 152, a detergent compartment 154, and an insert 156. The detergent-dispensing layer 152 is a liquid-permeable layer. In one embodiment, the detergent-dispensing layer 152 is a foam layer. In the illustrated embodiment, the detergent-dispensing mechanism 150 is located on a center of the front surface 106 of the body portion 100. However, it should be noted that the detergent-dispensing mechanism 150 may also be located on the rear surface 108 of the body portion 100. In one embodiment, the insert 156 may comprise a detergent. Specifically, the insert 156 may be a foam soap pod, a gel soap pod, a hard bar soap pod, and/or cleaning materials such as but not limited to microfiber, wool, and/or sponge. The insert 156 may be inserted into the detergent compartment 154 and configured to dispense detergent or soap via the detergent-dispensing layer 152. The detergent-dispensing mechanism 150 may be opened to replace the insert 156 or closed to keep the insert 156 in position via any suitable means, such as but not limited to Velcro, zippers, buckles, snaps, buttons, laces, and/or a combination thereof.
[0039] In a preferred embodiment, the present invention further comprises a cuff portion 160 extending from the proximal end 102 of the body portion 100. The cuff portion 160 may be configured to extend to pass as far as desired up the arm of the user. Furthermore, the cuff portion 160 may be made from elastic materials to prevent water or other liquid from entering the interior space 140 of the body portion 100.
[0040] It is envisioned that the sizes of the components forming the present invention such as the body portion 100, the first finger portion 120, the second finger portion 130, detergent-dispensing mechanism 150, and/or the cuff portion 160 can vary based on design requirements.
[0041] Although the disclosure has been explained in relation to its preferred embodiment, it is to be understood that many other possible modifications and variations can be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the disclosure.
