[0035]
[0036] In some embodiments the instruction module 406 is a hard copy and may comprise text, charts, graphs, and other illustrative materials. These sometimes explain how to use the exercise supporting nutritional supplement, include example exercises, and provide a graph, chart, or other format for tracking exercise and progress. [0037] Subjects receiving the formulation disclosed herein, in one embodiment, may exhibit significantly increased exercise performance, ability to complete more repetitions, faster recovery, and elevated mood with no post recovery crash. Specific benefits are outlined in the examples below, and may include: [0038] a boost in cellular energy, muscle strength, and performance, as well as cognitive benefits and some protective function in case of head trauma; [0039] reduction of blood pressure, expansion of blood vessels, increase of beta-endorphin release (mood enhancement), enhancement of insulin sensitivity, a boost in cognitive function, and inhibition of oxidative stress in neurons; [0040] support for intracellular methylation reactions and cellular antioxidant defense, important processes during exercise and in recovery, facilitation of increased squat, bench press, and other activities; [0041] support for repair of joints and even liver tissue, promoting improved recovery; [0042] preventing a decline in cognitive function in response to physical stress; [0043] support for clear thinking and ability to multitask; [0044] minimizing workout related stomach issues; and [0045] increase in energy and some mood enhancement.
EXAMPLES
Example 1: Biological Effects
[0046] The components of the formulation may induce specific biological effects. Citrulline may enhance blood flow to the heart and benefit performance and recovery. Creatine Monohydrate may boost cellular energy, muscle strength, and performance, as well as conferring cognitive benefits and be protective in case of head trauma. Beta Alanine is an extensively researched performance enhancing supplement with a strong safety record.
Example 2: Nitric Oxide Synthesis
[0047] Like L-Arginine and L-Citrulline, Agmatine Sulfate is a nitric oxide (NO) booster. As a metabolite of L-Arginine, Agmatine has the vasodilating properties useful in a pre-workout pump enhancer. Research suggests that agmatine works primarily by activating endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS), imidazoline receptors, and alpha(2)-adrenergic receptors, all of which modulate nitric oxide synthesis.
[0048] These mechanisms appear to govern the various benefits of agmatine supplementation, including reducing blood pressure, expanding blood vessels, increasing beta-endorphin release (mood enhancement), enhancing insulin sensitivity, boosting cognitive function, and inhibiting oxidative stress in neurons.
Example 3: Methyl Donor and Methionine Homeostasis
[0049] Betaine Anhydrous (trimethylglycine), is a naturally occurring and crucial methyl donor for restoring methionine homeostasis in cells. Plasma and tissue sulfur amino acid (SAA) availability are crucial for intracellular methylation reactions and cellular antioxidant defense, which are important processes during exercise and in recovery. Studies have linked Betaine to enhanced power output in athletes, notably in terms of anaerobic strength performance. Athletes supplementing with Betaine increased their squat, bench press, and other activities.
Example 4: Betaine and Homocysteine
[0050] Betaine is synergistic with creatine in preventing the production of homocysteine. Betaine enhances the repair of joints and even liver tissue, supporting improved recovery. High levels of homocysteine can damage the lining in artery walls, and cause blockages in blood vessels, potentially leading to problems like a heart attack or stroke.
Example 5: L-Tyrosine
[0051] L-Tyrosine is the precursor of the catecholamines. Alterations in the availability of L-tyrosine to the brain can influence the synthesis of both dopamine and norepinephrine at least in experimental animals. The main effects of L-tyrosine that have been reported are acute effects in preventing a decline in cognitive function in response to physical stress. In one study, L-tyrosine was given at a dosage of 2 g per day for 5 days during a demanding military combat training course and improved various aspects of cognitive function relative to placebo. Furthermore, supplementing with L-Tyrosine does not build a tolerance as does ingestion of L-Dopamine.
Example 6: Choline Bitartrate and Acetylcholine
[0052] Choline Bitartrate is necessary for the synthesis of acetylcholine, an important neurotransmitter. This component is related to B vitamins and is involved in memory, muscle movement, regulating heartbeat and other basic functions. Observation suggests that Choline Bitartrate supplementation supports clear thinking and ability to multitask.
Example 7: Other Benefits
[0053] Bovine collagen supplies amino acids and supports a healthy gut while minimizing workout related stomach issues. Caffeine Anhydrous, is a pure form of caffeine and contributes energy and some mood enhancement. Pink Himalayan salt contributes trace elements, electrolytes, and hydration benefits. Black pepper assists with the absorption of certain components.
[0054] The present formulation may be embodied in other specific forms without departing from its spirit or essential characteristics. The described embodiments are to be considered in all respects only as illustrative and not restrictive. The scope of the formulation is, therefore, indicated by the appended claims rather than by the foregoing description. All changes which come within the meaning and range of equivalency of the claims are to be embraced within their scope.
