HAT WITH A ROTATABLE BRIM

Abstract

A hat with a rotatable brim is disclosed, including a hat having a crown forming the top porting of the hat. The crown is configured to cover and fit a head of a user. A bearing system permits the rotatable connection between a brim and the crown. A rotating mechanism enables smooth and continuous rotation of the brim. A manual adjustment mechanism allows the user to manually rotate the brim.

Claims

1. A hat with a rotatable brim, comprising: a hat including a crown forming the top porting of the hat, the crown configured to cover and fit a head of a user; a bearing system permitting the rotatable connection between a brim and the crown; a rotating mechanism to enable smooth and continuous rotation of the brim; and a manual adjustment mechanism to allow the user to manually rotate the brim.

2. The hat with a rotatable brim of claim 1, wherein the rotating mechanism is frictionless.

3. The hat with a rotatable brim of claim 1, wherein the rotating mechanism provides 360-degree rotation of the brim.

4. The hat with a rotatable brim of claim 1, wherein the rotating mechanism provides the user with adjustable shading.

5. The hat with a rotatable brim of claim 1, wherein the rotating mechanism provides the user with adjustable styling.

6. The hat with a rotatable brim of claim 1, further comprising a locking mechanism to secure the brim in a fixed position.

7. The hat with a rotatable brim of claim 1, wherein the hat is constructed of a waterproof material.

8. The hat with a rotatable brim of claim 1, wherein the hat is constructed of a UV-proof material.

9. A hat with a rotatable brim, comprising: a hat including a crown forming the top porting of the hat, the crown configured to cover and fit a head of a user; a bearing system permitting the rotatable connection between a brim and the crown; a rotating mechanism to enable smooth and continuous rotation of the brim, the rotating system including a groove to interface with a notch provided on the brim to guide the rotation of the brim; a locking mechanism comprised of at least one clip to lockingly engage with the bearing system; and a manual adjustment mechanism to allow the user to manually rotate the brim and to manually lock the brim.

10. The hat with a rotatable brim of claim 9, wherein the rotating mechanism is frictionless.

11. The hat with a rotatable brim of claim 10, wherein the rotating mechanism provides 360-degree rotation of the brim.

12. The hat with a rotatable brim of claim 11, wherein the rotating mechanism provides the user with adjustable shading.

13. The hat with a rotatable brim of claim 12, wherein the rotating mechanism provides the user with adjustable styling.

14. The hat with a rotatable brim of claim 13, further comprising a locking mechanism to secure the brim in a fixed position.

15. The hat with a rotatable brim of claim 14, wherein the hat is constructed of a waterproof material.

16. The hat with a rotatable brim of claim 15, wherein the hat is constructed of a UV-proof material.

17. The hat with a rotatable brim of claim 16, wherein the bearing system includes a plurality of radially interspaced beads positioned within a bearing channel.

18. The hat with a rotatable brim of claim 17, wherein the crown may include one or more decorative elements.

19. The hat with a rotatable brim of claim 18, wherein the brim may include one or more decorative elements.

20. The hat with a rotatable brim of claim 19, wherein the brim is removably engaged with the crown.

The crown 101 has a greater perimeter than the perimeter of the brim 105 and bearing system 103. The brim 105 includes a first wing 300 and a second wing 301 to engage with the bearing system 103. The brim 105 is positioned between the crown 101 and crown 101 to allow for the free rotation of the brim 105 around the crown 101. The free rotation allows for the user to selective shade various sides of their head and face, as well as change the appearance and style of the hat.sub.[RLG1].

The bearing system 103 includes a channel 401 which accepts the brim 105 and allows the brim 105 to slide through the channel 401. The opening 403 of the channel 401 is positioned on the bottom side 405 of the channel 401. A notch 407 engages with a recess 409 to retain the brim 105 within the channel 401 and allow the brim 105 to protrude from the crown 101. Bearings (not pictured) are positioned within the channel 401 to enable near frictionless movement of the brim 105.sub.[RLG2].
