Abstract
A smart lid and tumbler device is disclosed that is a modified lid for tumblers and/or a modified tumbler that features a space/holder for a watch face component of a smartwatch or any other timepiece. The smart lid and tumbler device comprises a lid component that is configured in a circular shape that fits within the circumference of the tumbler opening and can be secured via a screw or pop-in mechanism. The lid component and/or the tumbler component comprises a recessed area that is sized and shaped to retain a watch face component of a smartwatch. The recessed area can secure the watch face component of a smartwatch via multiple ways.
Claims
1. A smart lid and tumbler device that provides a user with a modified lid and tumbler for retaining a smartwatch, the smart lid and tumbler device comprising: a tumbler component; a lid component; and a recessed area; wherein the lid component is secured onto the tumbler component in a conventional way for beverage containers; wherein either or both the tumbler component and the lid component comprise at least one recessed area; and further wherein the recessed area is sized and shaped to retain a watch face component of a smartwatch.
2. The smart lid and tumbler device of claim 1, wherein the watch face component is from a smartwatch, a fitness watch, or a conventional watch.
3. The smart lid and tumbler device of claim 2, wherein the tumbler component is cylindrical in shape and comprises a top end and a bottom end.
4. The smart lid and tumbler device of claim 3, wherein the top end comprises an upper rim which defines a tumbler opening which allows access to an interior cavity.
5. The smart lid and tumbler device of claim 4, wherein the bottom end of the tumbler component can be narrowed to fit within a conventional cupholder.
6. The smart lid and tumbler device of claim 5, wherein the tumbler component has a double wall stainless steel body.
7. The smart lid and tumbler device of claim 6, wherein the bottom end of the tumbler component comprises a non-slip bottom pad.
8. The smart lid and tumbler device of claim 7, wherein the lid component is circular in shape and sized and shaped to fit within a circumference of the tumbler opening, sealing the tumbler opening via a threaded or screwed feature or a pop-in mechanism.
9. The smart lid and tumbler device of claim 8, wherein the lid component comprises a lid component opening with a sliding closure.
10. The smart lid and tumbler device of claim 9, wherein users magnetically attach the watch face component directly to the tumbler component or directly on the lid component via magnetic areas on the tumbler component and the lid component which secure to magnetic areas on a back of the watch face component.
11. The smart lid and tumbler device of claim 10, wherein the recessed area is configured as a compartment with a lid mechanism.
12. The smart lid and tumbler device of claim 11, wherein the lid mechanism is a silicone mold component which is used to mate with and completely cover the lid component and encase and protect the watch face component while in the recessed area.
13. The smart lid and tumbler device of claim 12, wherein the silicone mold component is sized and shaped to mirror the lid component and comprises a protrusion which is aligned with the recessed area to completely encase the watch face component when in position.
14. The smart lid and tumbler device of claim 13, wherein the silicone mold component is transparent, waterproof, and flexible, and secures around the smartwatch and the lid component via an interference fit.
15. The smart lid and tumbler device of claim 11, wherein the lid mechanism is a magnetic slide component that is secured to the top of the lid component, adjacent to the recessed area, and slides over a top of the smartwatch, securing the smartwatch within the recessed area.
16. The smart lid and tumbler device of claim 1 wherein, a pouch, a strap, or a bag is used to secure the watch face component and attach it to the tumbler component and the lid component.
17. A smart lid and tumbler device that provides a user with a modified lid and tumbler for retaining a smartwatch, the smart lid and tumbler device comprising: a tumbler component comprises a top end and a bottom end, with an upper rim which defines a tumbler opening which allows access to an interior cavity; a lid component which is sized and shaped to fit within a circumference of the tumbler opening, sealing the tumbler opening; and a recessed area sized and shaped to retain a watch face component of a smartwatch; wherein the lid component is secured onto the tumbler component in a conventional way for beverage containers; wherein either or both the tumbler component and the lid component comprise at least one recessed area; wherein users magnetically attach the watch face component directly to the tumbler component or directly on the lid component via magnetic areas on the tumbler component and the lid component which secure to magnetic areas on a back of the watch face component; wherein a silicone mold component is used to mate with and completely cover the lid component and encase and protect the watch face component while in the recessed area; and further wherein the silicone mold component is transparent, waterproof, and flexible, and secures around the smartwatch and the lid component via an interference fit.
18. The smart lid and tumbler device of claim 17 wherein the tumbler component comprises lights and a speaker which are wirelessly paired with the smartwatch secured to the tumbler device.
19. The smart lid and tumbler device of claim 17, wherein a pouch, a strap, or a bag is used to secure the watch face component and attach it to the tumbler component and the lid component.
20. A method of retaining a smartwatch to a tumbler or lid, the method comprising the following steps: providing a smart lid and tumbler device comprising a lid component and a tumbler component for retaining a beverage with a recessed area for the smartwatch; inserting a watch face component into the recessed area to be held in place for use; magnetically attaching the watch face component to the lid component or the tumbler component; and securing the watch face component within a bag, strap, or pouch and securing it to the tumbler component.

There is also a long felt need in the art for a smart lid and tumbler device that features a magnetic indented space on the tumbler and/or lid or a magnetic backing on the watch face that enables it to be secured to the side or lid of a tumbler. Further, there is a long felt need in the art for a smart lid and tumbler device that includes a recessed area on the lid and/or tumbler to securely hold the watch face and maintain easy accessibility. Moreover, there is a long felt need in the art for a device that prevents a user from having to store the watch face in a pocket, purse, backpack, etc. and risk losing or damaging it. Further, there is a long felt need in the art for a smart lid and tumbler device wherein the lid fits within the circumference of the tumbler opening and can be secured via a screw or pop-in mechanism. Finally, there is a long felt need in the art for a smart lid and tumbler device that is available in different sizes and colors.
[0038] The present invention, in one exemplary embodiment, is a novel smart lid and tumbler device. The device is a modified lid for tumblers and/or a modified tumbler that features a space/holder for a watch face component of a smartwatch or any other timepiece. The smart lid and tumbler device comprises a lid component that is configured in a circular shape that fits within the circumference of the tumbler opening and can be secured via a screw or pop-in mechanism. The lid component and/or the tumbler component comprises a recessed area that is sized and shaped to retain a watch face component of a smartwatch. The present invention also includes a novel method of retaining a smartwatch to a tumbler or lid. The method includes the steps of providing a smart lid and tumbler device comprising a lid component and a tumbler component for retaining a beverage with a recessed area for the smartwatch. The method also comprises inserting a watch face component into the recessed area to be held in place for use. Further, the method comprises magnetically attaching the watch face component to the lid component or the tumbler component. Finally, the method comprises securing the watch face component within a bag, strap, or pouch and securing it to the tumbler component.

[0040] Generally, the smart lid and tumbler device 100 provides a user with a tumbler and/or a tumbler lid that retains a smartwatch 106, a fitness watch, a conventional watch, etc., or another desired timepiece as is known in the art. The device 100 allows easy access to the smartwatch 106 and prevents a user from having to store the smartwatch 106 in a pocket, purse, backpack, etc., or any other suitable storage component, and risk losing or damaging the smartwatch 106.
[0041] Further, the smart lid and tumbler device 100 comprises a tumbler component 102 for holding a hot or cold beverage to drink. The tumbler component 102 is preferably of a cylindrical shape having a top end 112 and a bottom end 114. The top end 112 comprises an upper rim 116 which defines a tumbler opening 118 which allows access to an interior cavity 120. The interior cavity 120 can be a double-walled, vacuum-sealed cavity capable of accepting hot or cold beverages and keeping the beverages hot or cold, as desired. Preferably the tumbler profile between the top end 112 and the bottom end 114 is substantially planar. In another embodiment, the bottom end 114 of the tumbler component 102 can be narrowed to fit within a conventional cupholder of a vehicle.
[0042] Preferably, the tumbler component 102 has a tumbler body 130 which preferably is a double wall stainless steel body. The double wall stainless steel body includes an outer stainless steel wall and an interior stainless steel wall. Preferably a copper boundary layer is disposed between the two stainless steel walls to further insulate the beverages retained within the interior cavity 120.
[0043] In one embodiment, the bottom end 114 of the tumbler component 102 comprises a non-slip bottom pad 132. The non-slip bottom pad 132 is preferably made from a flexible material such as rubber. The non-slip bottom pad 132 has a planar bottom surface which enables the tumbler component 102 to evenly rest upon a flat surface. Further, the non-slip bottom pad 132 rests within the profile of the tumbler profile enabling the appearance of the tumbler body 130 to remain uninterrupted along its length providing for a unitary appearance.

The lid component 104 is circular in shape and sized and shaped to fit within the circumference of the tumbler component opening 118, sealing the opening 118 and preventing beverages within the interior cavity 120 to spill. The lid component 104 is typically sealed on the tumbler opening 118 in a secure engagement via a threaded or screwed feature or a pop-in mechanism. Specifically, the screwed feature includes male and female threads 122 respectively carried within the upper rim 116 inner surface and on the body of the lid component 104. The interlocking threads 122 enable the lid component 104 to be secured to the tumbler component 102 in a manner which prevents the removal of the lid component 104 without physical rotational manipulation of the lid component 104 in an unscrewing type of action.
[0045] Furthermore, the lid component 104 is enabled to be rotated and screwed onto the tumbler component 102 until the lid's upper portion engages the top of the upper rim 116. In this locking position, the lid component 104 is securely maintained intact with the tumbler component 102 and movement of the lid component 104 is prevented. Additionally, with the threads 122 intertwined, a sealed covering is provided preventing liquid in the interior cavity 120 of the tumbler component 102 from leaving the interior cavity 120 except through a path established by a lid component opening 128. In one embodiment, a sliding closure 124 carried by the lid component 104 covers the lid component opening 128 and is operable to seal the interior of the tumbler component 102, or to slide open providing for a channel to dispense the liquid stored within the interior cavity 120 through the lid component opening 128. In one embodiment, the lid component 104 comprises a straw 126 of variable shapes and sizes, which can be inserted into the lid component opening 128 during use.

The compartment 300 and lid mechanism 302 secure the watch face component 108 within and protect the watch face component 108 from the elements. In one embodiment, the lid mechanism 302 is a silicone mold component 304 which is used to mate with and completely cover the lid component 104 and encase and protect the watch face component 108 while in the recessed area 110. The silicone mold component 304 is sized and shaped to mirror the lid component 104 and comprises a protrusion 306 which is aligned with the recessed area 110 to completely encase the watch face component 108 when in position. The silicone mold component 304 would be transparent, waterproof, and flexible. It would secure around the smartwatch 106 and the lid component 104 via an interference fit. Further, the silicone mold component 304 would protect the smartwatch 106 from the elements, as well as drops and spills. Additionally, the silicone mold component 304 is transparent and allows a user to view and access the smartwatch 106 while still being protected during use.

Typically, the magnetic slide component 308 is secured to the top of the lid component 104, adjacent to the recessed area 110. Specifically, the tumbler component 102 can comprise lights 506 and a speaker 508, as well as any other functionality deemed necessary.
