Abstract
‘VALCOSTA2’ is a new and distinctive Ctenanthe plant which is characterized by foliage with large laminae borne on long, upright petioles that arise directly from the base of the plant, a light greyed-green adaxial laminar surface with broad portions of the lamina adjacent to veins prominently colored with a mixture of dark green to yellow-green, an abaxial laminar surface which is colored with a mixture of dark greyed-purple and brown and lightly suffused with yellow-green at the margins, and the stability of all characteristics from generation to generation. The new variety is typically produced as an indoor ornamental plant.
Claims
1. A new and distinct variety of Ctenanthe plant named ‘VALCOSTA2’, substantially as described and illustrated herein.

BOTANICAL DESCRIPTION OF THE PLANT
(5) The following observations and measurements made in October of 2021 describe averages from a sample set of six specimens of 1 year old ‘VALCOSTA2’ plants grown in 17 cm nursery containers at commercial greenhouse in Maasland, the Netherlands. Plants were produced using conventional greenhouse production protocols for Ctenanthe which consisted of growing under shade cloth, regular overhead irrigation, and fertilizer applications as needed. No chemical pest and disease control measures were taken. No photoperiodic treatments or artificial light was given to the plants.
(6) Those skilled in the art will appreciate that certain characteristics will vary with older or, conversely, with younger plants. ‘VALCOSTA2’ has not been observed under all possible environmental conditions. Where dimensions, sizes, colors and other characteristics are given, it is to be understood that such measurements are approximations or averages set forth as accurately as practicable. The phenotype of the variety may differ from the descriptions set forth herein with variations in environmental, climactic and cultural conditions. Color notations are based on The Royal Horticultural Society Colour Chart, The Royal Horticultural Society, London, Sixth Edition.
