    Abstract

A paint brush that is configured to be suspendedly mounted within the interior volume of a paint can. The invention includes a handle member wherein the handle member has a crimp member and bristle members secured to a second end of the handle member. The handle member includes a pry member formed on the first end thereof. An upper indentation is formed into the handle member proximate the first end. A lower indentation is formed in the crimp member. The lower indentation includes a void that is angular in orientation wherein the void is accessed by an opening present in the lateral edge of the crimp member. The lateral edge of the crimp member further includes a lip member forming a point proximate the upper end of the opening. The void angles from the lateral edge inwards and upwards towards the center of the crimp member.

    DETAILED DESCRIPTION

[0016] Referring now to the drawings submitted herewith, wherein various elements depicted therein are not necessarily drawn to scale and wherein through the views and figures like elements are referenced with identical reference numerals, there is illustrated a paint brush 100 constructed according to the principles of the present invention.

[0017] An embodiment of the present invention is discussed herein with reference to the figures submitted herewith. Those skilled in the art will understand that the detailed description herein with respect to these figures is for explanatory purposes and that it is contemplated within the scope of the present invention that alternative embodiments are plausible. By way of example but not by way of limitation, those having skill in the art in light of the present teachings of the present invention will recognize a plurality of alternate and suitable approaches dependent upon the needs of the particular application to implement the functionality of any given detail described herein, beyond that of the particular implementation choices in the embodiment described herein. Various modifications and embodiments are within the scope of the present invention.

[0018] It is to be further understood that the present invention is not limited to the particular methodology, materials, uses and applications described herein, as these may vary. Furthermore, it is also to be understood that the terminology used herein is used for the purpose of describing particular embodiments only, and is not intended to limit the scope of the present invention. It must be noted that as used herein and in the claims, the singular forms a, an and the include the plural reference unless the context clearly dictates otherwise. Thus, for example, a reference to an element is a reference to one or more elements and includes equivalents thereof known to those skilled in the art. All conjunctions used are to be understood in the most inclusive sense possible. Thus, the word or should be understood as having the definition of a logical or rather than that of a logical exclusive or unless the context clearly necessitates otherwise. Structures described herein are to be understood also to refer to functional equivalents of such structures. Language that may be construed to express approximation should be so understood unless the context clearly dictates otherwise.

[0019] References an embodiment, exemplary embodiments, and the like may indicate that the embodiment(s) of the invention so described may include a particular feature, structure or characteristic, but not every embodiment necessarily includes the particular feature, structure or characteristic.

[0020] Referring in particular to the Figures submitted herewith, the paint brush 100 includes a handle member 10 wherein the handle member 10 has a first end 11 and a second end 12. The handle member 10 is manufactured from a durable rigid material such as but not limited to wood. It should be understood within the scope of the present invention that the handle member 10 could be manufactured on various lengths and sizes. The handle member 10 has a pry member 20 contiguously formed with the second end 12 thereof. The pry member 20 is flat and planar in manner having a leading edge 22 that is configured to be utilized to open a conventional one gallon paint can. The pry member 20 in a preferred embodiment is manufactured from an alternate material such as but not limited to metal and could include a shank member (not particularly illustrated herein) penetrating down into the handle member 10 providing structural support.

[0021] Proximate the pry member 20 is the upper indentation 30. Upper indentation 30 is formed into the handle member 10 proximate the second end 12. The upper indentation 30 includes a void 32 wherein the void 32 has an angular orientation thereto. An opening 33 is formed in the lateral edge 9 of the handle member 10 providing access to the void 32. The upper indentation 30 functions to allow the paint brush 100 to be suspendedly mounted on an object such as but not limited to a nail or peg. The angular orientation of the void 32 provides stability ensuing engagement with the aforementioned nail or peg. It should be understood within the scope of the present invention that the paint brush 100 could be provided without the upper indentation 30. Furthermore, it is contemplated within the scope of the present invention that the upper indentation 30 could be manufactured in an alternate shape and/or size.

[0022] The first end 11 of the handle member 10 has a crimp member 40 operably coupled thereto. Crimp member 40 is manufactured from metal in a preferred embodiment and functions to secure the bristle members 50. The bristle members 50 are conventional paint brush bristles manufactured from a suitable material such as but not limited to nylon. The crimp member 40 provides the operable coupling of the bristle members 50 to the handle member 10.

[0023] Formed in the crimp member 40 is lower indentation 60. Lower indentation 60 is formed in the crimp member 40 employing suitable techniques. The lower indentation 60 includes a void 62 wherein access to the void 62 is provided by opening 64. Opening 64 is formed in the lateral edge 42 of the crimp member 40. The void 62 is formed at an angular orientation wherein the direction of the void 62 is angled from proximate the bottom of the crimp member 40 extending thereinto towards a center thereof. The opening 64 includes a lip member 66 wherein lip member 66 forms a point in the lateral edge 42 proximate the upper end of the opening 64. The combination of the lip member 66 and angular orientation of the void 62 facilitates an ability to suspendedly mount the paint brush 100 onto the perimeter edge 97 of the opening 98 of a conventional paint can 99, as is illustrated in FIG. 2 submitted as a part hereof. The lower indentation 60 and the construction thereof enables a user to suspendedly mount the paint brush 100 in the paint can 99 placing the paint brush 100 is a substantially vertical position. The mounting position of the paint brush 100 facilitated by the lower indentation 60 ensures any paint egressing off of the bristle members 50 is deposited into the interior volume of the paint can 99.

[0024] In the preceding detailed description, reference has been made to the accompanying drawings that form a part hereof, and in which are shown by way of illustration specific embodiments in which the invention may be practiced. These embodiments, and certain variants thereof, have been described in sufficient detail to enable those skilled in the art to practice the invention. It is to be understood that other suitable embodiments may be utilized and that logical changes may be made without departing from the spirit or scope of the invention. The description may omit certain information known to those skilled in the art. The preceding detailed description is, therefore, not intended to be limited to the specific forms set forth herein, but on the contrary, it is intended to cover such alternatives, modifications, and equivalents, as can be reasonably included within the spirit and scope of the appended claims.
