Abstract
A hand-operated umbrella comprises a column, a tilted rod, a transverse rod, a connecting rod, a supporting rod, an upper nest, a lower nest, a plurality of long rods, a plurality of short rods, and a slider slidably disposed on the column. The transverse rod, the tilted rod, the connecting rod and the supporting rod form a quadrilateral linkage mechanism. The umbrella of the present invention is simple and reasonable in structure, labor-saving and easy to unfold and fold and low in cost. Since each of four sides of the column has the groove for mounting the umbrella frame, so that a shading area of the umbrella is effectively increased, and a shading effect is improved, and the assembled umbrella is stable and reliable.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
[0024] The present invention will be further described below in detail by embodiments with reference to the accompanying drawings.
Embodiment 1
[0025]
[0026] A specific connecting structure of the middle portion 2c of the tilted rod 2 and the lower portion 3c of the transverse rod 3 is as follows: a width of the transverse rod 3 is greater than a width of the tilted rod 2, the transverse rod 3 has a long through hole 31 extending lengthwise of the transverse rod 3 at the lower portion 3c of the transverse rod 3 for allowing the tilted rod 2 to pass through and swivel relative to the transverse rod 3. A first connecting piece a is disposed at a center of the long through hole 31 on the transverse rod 3, the middle portion 2c of the tilted rod 2 passing through the long through hole 31 is pivoted to the first connecting piece a. The tilted rod 2 and the transverse rod 3 form a pair of X-shaped rotation rods, and the tilted rod 2 can rotate relative to the transverse rod 3 around the first connecting piece a (the joint between the tilted rod 2 and the transverse rod 3), and the long through hole 31 provides a movement space to the tilted rod 2 when it rotates relatively. A second connecting piece b is disposed at the middle portion 3d of the transverse rod 3, the transverse rod 3 is pivoted to the top end 5a of the supporting rod 5 through the second connecting piece b, a distance between the first connecting piece a and the second connecting piece b equals a length of the connecting rod 4. The top end 5a of the supporting rod 5 is pivoted to the second connecting piece b, and the supporting rod 5 can rotate around the second connecting piece b.
[0027] The transverse rod 3 is preferably a metal tube with a cross-section of a rectangular with two parallel bars inside the rectangular. Of course, the transverse rod 3 may be a metal tube with an inverted U-shaped or square-shaped cross-section. The tilted rod 2, the connecting rod 4 and the supporting rod 5 are preferably metal tubes with a square-shaped cross-section. The connecting rod 4 is composed of a pair of section bars each of which is connected to a side surface of the tilted rod 2 and a side surface of the supporting rod 5. Of course, the tilted rod 2, the connecting rod 4 and the supporting rod 5 are preferably metal tubes with an inverted U-shaped cross-section.
[0028] In this embodiment, the transverse rod 3 is a metal tube with a cross-section of a rectangular with two parallel bars inside the rectangular, and the tilted rod 2, the connecting rod 4 and the supporting rod 5 are preferably metal tubes with the square-shaped cross-section. The connecting rod 4 is composed of a pair of section bars each of which is connected to a side surface of the tilted rod 2 and a side surface of the supporting rod 5. In this embodiment, the tilted rod 2 and the supporting rod 5 have the same width, each section bar of the connecting rod 4 has two ends and each end has a pin hole, the tilted rod 2 has a first connecting hole at the bottom end 2b of the tilted rod 2 and the supporting rod 5 has a second connecting hole at the middle portion 5c of the supporting rod 5, the bottom end 2b of the tilted rod 2 is pivoted to the bottom end 4a of the connecting rod 4 by a connecting pin passing through the pin hole of the connecting rod 4 and the connecting hole of the tilted rod 2, the middle portion 5c of the supporting rod 5 is pivoted to the top end 4b of the connecting rod 4 by a connecting pin passing through the pin hole of the connecting rod 4 and the connecting hole of the supporting rod 5. When the transverse rod 3, the tilted rod 2, the supporting rod 5 and the connecting rod 4 are metal tubes with an inverted U-shaped cross-section, the opening of each of the U-shaped transverse rod 3, the tilted rod 2 and the supporting rod 5 faces downward, the opening of the U-shaped connecting rod 4 faces upward, and the width between the pair of section bars of the connecting rod 4 is not less than the width of the tilted rod 2 and of the supporting rod 5. Then, they are connected together.
[0029] A column connector 10 is disposed at the top end of the column 1, the top end of the tilted rod 2 is pivoted to the column connector 10. A pulley 201 is disposed inside the slider 20, the column 1 has at least a groove 11 for receiving the pulley 201 and allowing the pulley 201 to slide along the groove 11 at a side of the column 1. The groove 11 in this embodiment has a dovetail-shaped cross-section, an outer contour of a cross section of the column 1 is in a square shape, the column 1 has four sides and each side of the column 1 has the groove 11 for mounting an umbrella frame.
[0030] When unfolding the umbrella, the slider 20 is pushed upward to drive the transverse rod 3 to move from a nearly vertical state to a nearly horizontal state, and the quadrilateral linkage mechanism drives the supporting rod 5 to synchronously move upward so as to raise a height of the lower nest 7, so that the umbrella is unfolded. In the process of unfolding the umbrella, the center of gravity A of the whole umbrella frame is only slightly raised in a vertical direction of the umbrella, so that unfolding the umbrella is very easy.
[0031] The column 1 has four sides and each side of the column 1 has the groove 11 for mounting an umbrella frame therefore, the type of the umbrella frame can be single-headed (
