DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
[0025] While the specification concludes with claims defining the features of the invention that are regarded as novel, it is believed that the invention will be better understood from a consideration of the following description in conjunction with the drawing figures, in which like reference numerals are carried forward. It is to be understood that the disclosed embodiments are merely exemplary of the invention, which can be embodied in various forms.
[0026] The present invention provides novel, effective, and comfortable golf utility pants that enable safe, effective, and efficient gameplay desired by many individuals. Referring now to
[0027] The pants 100 include a pant body 102 having a front side 103, a rear side 200 opposing the front side 103 of the pant body 102, and two opposing sides interposed between the front and rear sides 103, 200. The pant body 102 may also include an inseam defining a portion of the leg portions of the pant body 102. The pant body 102 is preferably unitary, in that it moves and is placed on and off of a user as a single unit. The pant body 102 material is preferably one or a combination of polyester, cotton, nylon, and elastane, thereby providing a balance of durability, breathability, moisture-wicking, and stretch for comfort and freedom of movement on a course or in a golf setting. The pant body 102 defines a waist opening 104 and defining two leg openings 106a-b, wherein each opening is preferably enclosed or operably configured to be enclosed. The waist opening 104 may be tightened with an elastic band or the pant body 102 may include a plurality of belt loops to tighten the pant body 102 on a user.
[0028] Beneficially, the pant body 102 includes a first pocket 108 (or referred to herein as a side pocket) that is formed with a mesh layer 300 configured to enable debris to pass therethrough and out through one of the two leg openings 106a-b. Said another way, the mesh layer is sized and shaped (e.g., 25-30 openings per square inch) to retain larger accessories and objects, like golf balls, tees, etc., but permit dirt and other small debris to pass therethrough. The pocket(s) may be a bag or other partial enclosures formed with the one or more layers utilized in the pant body 102. The first pocket 108 is preferably disposed proximal (i.e., at or near, within 6 inches) to a first side seam 116 of the pant body 102 and fastened around a perimeter 304 to the pant body 102 to form a singular opening 302 thereon. Beneficially, each of the side pockets 108, 110 are formed in said manner and one or both of the pockets also include another pocket 126 formed on a layer 128 forming the respective side pocket 108, 110 and has a depth less than 6 inches. The side pockets 108, 110 may be composed of a mesh netting material composition that beneficially prevents dirt, sand, and other debris from accumulating in the pockets. Instead, dirt, sand, and debris are allowed to escape from the plurality of side pockets by virtue of the holes in the mesh-like netting.
[0029] The pocket 126 is preferably formed with an elastic material, e.g., entire material of the layer(s) and/or an elastic band, for retaining a golf shoe cleaning apparatus, like a tool, brush, pick, or other elongated object (exemplified in
[0030] Beneficially, the pant body 102 also includes a second pocket 202 fastened to the pant body 102 around an upper perimeter of the second pocket 202 and also includes an inner surface 204 including a hook-and-loop material 206 disposed thereon. The second pocket 202 is operably configured to be inverted out of the pant body 102 (best shown in
[0031] In one embodiment, a third pocket 124 is utilized on the pant body 102 and is formed with an elastic material (e.g., elastic strip and/or an elastic material/layer) and is fastened to the pant body 102, namely the inside surface 122 of the pant body 102, and proximal to a distal end of the pant body 102 defining one of the two leg openings 106a-b. The location of the third pocket 124 is preferably utilized with shorts, but is otherwise utilized in a configuration that does not inhibit with the swing motion of a user and is comfortable to the user. The third pocket 124 is preferably sewn into an inner liner/layer of the pant body 102 and enables quick storage and removal of a golf ball when desired by the user. In one embodiment, like the side pocket(s) 108, 110, the third pocket 124 is fastened to the pant body 102 around a perimeter to the third pocket 124 to form a singular opening 306 thereon. The third pocket 124 is preferably disposed on the front side 103 of the pant body 102 for quick removal and storage.
[0032] Said another way, the pant body 102 may include a reversed ball pocket 124 on the outer and lower hem of the pants for storing anywhere between one and three golf balls (optimally, two). The reversed design and configuration of the reversed ball pocket enables the balls to be easily dispensed in a downward direction using gravity when they are released from the pocket by the player. To that end, the single opening may also face toward the respective leg opening 106a-b. The material composition of the reversed ball pocket is a mesh netting material composition that beneficially prevents dirt, sand, and other debris from accumulating in the pockets. Instead, dirt, sand, and debris are allowed to escape from the plurality of side pockets by virtue of the holes in the mesh-like netting.
[0033] In another embodiment, the pant body 102 also includes a marker pocket 500 formed thereon, with a depth 502 less than 3 inches, and formed with an elastic material 504 (e.g., a band) configured to retain a ball marker within the marker pocket 500. The marker pocket 500 is preferably formed in an arcuate shape for ball markers, wherein a user will be able to quickly and effectively insert and remove a circular-shaped ball marker. Said differently, the crescent-shaped or loop-like compartment operably configured to receive a ball marker. The compartment may be magnetically charged or of a metal material composition to allow metal ball markers to magnetically clip into place and to allow plastic ball markers to snugly fit within the compartment while being within easy and quick reach for the player. In some embodiments, the pants 100 may have a separate, circular, magnetically charged and/or metal chip disposed on the outer and lower hem of the pants for clipping metal ball markers on and off. The separate, circular, magnetically charged and/or metal chip is selectively removable in a preferred embodiment of the invention, to beneficially permit the pants 100 to be washed and dried using conventional washing machines, electric dryers, etc. without potentially damaging the washing and/or drying equipment or the pants 100. Alternatively, the separate, circular, magnetically charged and/or metal chip may be sown into the marker pocket 500 or into the lower hem of the pants 100 such that it is not selectively removable from the pants 100. In alternate embodiments, the magnetically charged and/or metal chip may be proximally disposed to, and centrally located within, the crescent-shaped or loop-like compartment so that all ball marker compartments are in the same location.
[0034] More specifically, the pant body 102 may include one or more magnet(s) 120 preferably of a neodymium material that are fastened to the pant body 102, namely on an inside surface 122 of the pant body 102. The magnet(s) 120 may be sewn into the inner liner/layer so as to expose an outline of the magnet when viewed from the outer surface of the front side 103 of the pant body 102. The magnet(s) enable quick and effective coupling and uncoupling of ball markers thereto. The magnet(s) preferably have an intensity of 100-1000 gauss, or another intensity to support the weight of a glove while the user is moving and swinging a golf club.
[0035] In another embodiment, the pant body 102 includes a plurality of elastic loops 112a-n formed thereon, wherein n represents any number greater than one. The plurality of elastic loops 112a-n may be preferably longitudinally oriented on the front or side of the pant body 102 and are configured to retain a plurality of golf tees (as exemplified in
[0036] Although a specific order of utilizing the golf utility pants has been disclosed, the order of executing the steps may be changed relative to the order shown in certain embodiments. Also, two or more steps shown or described as occurring in succession may be executed concurrently or with partial concurrence in some embodiments. Certain steps may also be omitted for the sake of brevity. In some embodiments, some or all of the process steps can be combined into a single process.
[0037] Various modifications and additions can be made to the exemplary embodiments discussed without departing from the scope of the present disclosure. For example, while the embodiments described above refer to particular features, the scope of this disclosure also includes embodiments having different combinations of features and embodiments that do not include all of the above-described features.
