DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PRESENT INVENTION
[0029] The innovation is now described with reference to the drawings, wherein like reference numerals are used to refer to like elements throughout. In the following description, for purposes of explanation, numerous specific details are set forth in order to provide a thorough understanding thereof. It may be evident, however, that the innovation can be practiced without these specific details. In other instances, well-known structures and devices are shown in block diagram form in order to facilitate a description thereof. Various embodiments are discussed hereinafter. It should be noted that the figures are described only to facilitate the description of the embodiments. They are not intended as an exhaustive description of the invention and do not limit the scope of the invention. Additionally, an illustrated embodiment need not have all the aspects or advantages shown. Thus, in other embodiments, any of the features described herein from different embodiments may be combined.
[0030] As noted above, there is a long-felt need in the art for a detachable swimsuit device that provides users with an improved swimsuit with a detachable waist and abdomen section which allows users to selectively reveal their stomach when wearing the suit. There is also a long-felt need in the art for a detachable swimsuit device that enables users to attach and remove the high waist section via zippers, buttons, snaps, and other fasteners. Further, there is a long-felt need in the art for a detachable swimsuit device that ensures women feel comfortable when wearing a swimsuit in public by offering the option to cover the stomach, depending on the wants and/or needs of a user. Moreover, there is a long-felt need in the art for a device that prevents unsightly tan lines that typically occur when wearing a standard high-waisted swimsuit. Further, there is a long-felt need in the art for a detachable swimsuit device that improves confidence and self-esteem when wearing a two-piece swimsuit. Finally, there is a long-felt need in the art for a detachable swimsuit device that allows users to customize the look of their swimsuit while in public areas.
[0031] The present invention, in one exemplary embodiment, is a novel detachable swimsuit device. The device is a multipurpose two-piece swimsuit with a detachable waist component. The waist component can be selectively attached to the swimsuit to cover the user's stomach or abdomen area as desired. The waist component can be secured via hook and loop fasteners, snaps, buttons, zippers, etc. Further, the waist component can be mixed and matched to offer more variety and options to each swimsuit. Thus, users can customize the look of their swimsuit while out in public areas. The present invention also includes a novel method of utilizing an adjustable swimsuit. The method includes the steps of providing a detachable swimsuit device comprising a two-piece swimsuit with a removable waist component. The method also comprises putting on the two-piece swimsuit similar to a conventional swimsuit. Further, the method comprises securing the waist component to a user's waist area or abdomen area via a plurality of hook and loop fasteners or other suitable fasteners. Finally, removing the waist component as needed or desired by a user, by unfastening the fasteners.
[0032] Referring initially to the drawings,
[0033] An example swimsuit 102 is shown in accordance with the disclosure herein. The swimsuit 102 is shown worn by a user 108 and has the appearance of a conventional two-piece swimsuit 102, with the exception of an additional section of material that comprises a waist component 104 that covers a user's waist/abdomen area 106. Further, the swimsuit component 102 has a top portion 110 that covers an upper torso/chest area 112 of a user 108, i.e., the portion of the user's torso/chest 112 that lies primarily above the waistline, similar to a halter top. The top portion 110 is configured to be worn on the upper torso 112 in a conventional fashion. The swimsuit 102 also has a bottom portion 114 that covers the lower portion 116 of the torso/posterior area of a user 108 and extends around the user's groin. The bottom portion 114 is configured to be worn on the lower torso 116 in a conventional fashion. The top portion 110 and the bottom portion 114 can be any suitable color, pattern, design, size, and shape as is known in the art, as well as any suitable style for a two-piece swimsuit as is known in the art, depending on the needs and/or wants of a user.
[0034] Further, the waist component 104 is a length of material having a top 118, a bottom 120, and two opposing ends 122 that are releasably secured together in use around a user's waist/abdomen area 106 in a circular configuration. Generally, the waist component 104 is manufactured of the same material as the swimsuit 102 but doesn't have to be and can be manufactured of any suitable material as is known in the art, depending on the needs and/or wants of a user. Additionally, the waist component 104 can be any suitable shape and size, as long as the waist component can be secured around a user's abdomen area and can cover or conceal some of a user's abdomen area. The waist component 104 can also comprise any suitable color, pattern, or design as is known in the art, depending on the user's needs and/or wants. Further, the waist component 104 is sized to wrap around the circumference of a user's waist/abdomen area 106 and be releasably secured via fasteners.
[0035] As shown in
[0036] In one embodiment, the closure component 200 does not comprise an end stop, allowing the closure component 200 to be completely separated to make removal and attachment of the waist component 104 easy. Further, the closure component 200 extends along a width 204 of the waist component 104, allowing the waist component 104 to separate completely forming a continuous length of material when the fastener 202 is unfastened and securing the waist component 104 securely around a user's waist 106 when fastened.
[0037] In another embodiment, the waist component 104 comprises a flap component 206, positioned over the closure component 200. The flap component 206 is secured to one end 122 of the waist component 104, such that when the closure component 200 is secured, the flap component 206 acts to hide or conceal the closure component 200 from view for aesthetic purposes. Generally, the flap component 206 is a flap of material manufactured of the same material as is used to manufacture the waist component 104.
[0038] As shown in
[0039] Thus, in accordance with the invention, a swimsuit 102 has been provided which affords the capability of selective coverage and exposure based on the particular wishes of the user 108 at any particular time, in the form of a swimsuit device 100 manufactured in conventional sizes and without the necessity for custom fabrication thereof.
[0040] Furthermore, the detachable swimsuit device 100 is manufactured of nylon, lycra, or spandex, etc., or any other suitable materials as is known in the art. One skilled in the art will understand that any suitable material possessing an appropriate amount of flexibility and resiliency may be used to manufacture the detectable swimsuit device 100. Additionally, the detachable swimsuit device 100 is also manufactured from a material that is water resistant or water permeable or comprises a coating that is water resistant or water permeable.
[0041] Additionally, the detachable swimsuit device 100 comprises a plurality of indicia 300. The waist component 104 of the device 100 may include advertising, a trademark, or other letters, designs, or characters, printed, painted, stamped, or integrated into the waist component 104 or swimsuit component 102, or any other indicia 300 as is known in the art. Specifically, any suitable indicia 300 as is known in the art can be included, such as, but not limited to, patterns, logos, emblems, images, symbols, designs, letters, words, characters, animals, advertisements, brands, etc., that may or may not be swimsuit or brand related.
