Abstract
A multifunctional body part wrap device designed to assist individuals with mobility, therapeutic needs, or patient transfers is disclosed. The device includes a wrap body made of durable, tear-resistant material, configurable in various sizes and shapes to accommodate different parts or limbs of the body. A closure mechanism such as hook-and-loop fasteners is used for secure wrapping of the device around a body part (i.e., limb) and at least one handle is attached to the body via sewn seams for providing movement and positioning by the user or a caregiver. One embodiment includes a plurality of apertures and a plurality of adjustable straps to synchronize movement of multiple limb (i.e., arm or leg) wraps for bilateral use. The device can also function as a padded sling support with sewn covers to prevent twisting and reduce friction for patient comfort during transfers.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PRESENT INVENTION
[0022] The innovation is now described with reference to the drawings, wherein like reference numerals are used to refer to like elements throughout. In the following description, for purposes of explanation, numerous specific details are set forth in order to provide a thorough understanding thereof. It may be evident, however, that the innovation can be practiced without these specific details. In other instances, well-known structures and devices are shown in block diagram form in order to facilitate a description thereof. Various embodiments are discussed hereinafter. It should be noted that the figures are described only to facilitate the description of the embodiments. They are not intended as an exhaustive description of the invention and do not limit the scope of the invention. Additionally, an illustrated embodiment need not have all the aspects or advantages shown. Thus, in other embodiments, any of the features described herein from different embodiments may be combined.
[0023] As noted above, there exists a long-felt need in the art for a limb (i.e., arm or leg) wrap device that provides an ergonomic solution for individuals with mobility challenges. There is a long-felt need for a device that minimizes discomfort and prevents complications such as muscle atrophy, ligament deterioration, and hip misalignment caused by improper leg positioning. Additionally, there is a long-felt need for a versatile device that can be adapted for different body parts and used in a variety of environments, including therapeutic settings, daily activities, and wet conditions like showers. Furthermore, there is a long-felt need for a limb wrap device that is user-friendly, easy to adjust, and equipped with handles to assist caregivers in safely lifting, moving, or repositioning the user. More specifically, there exists a long-felt need in the art for an improved limb wrap device that enables the user to stabilize their legs and adjust the hips and legs into the desired position. Finally, there is a long-felt need for a device that is durable, customizable, and makes it easy and convenient for a user to move the leg, arm, or any other body part into the desired position.
[0024] The present invention, in one exemplary embodiment, is a multi-functional body wrap device. The device includes a body of varying sizes and shapes, the body made of a durable, soft, and non-stretchable material, wherein the body is adaptable to different user requirements, including use for children and adults, a fastening mechanism comprising at least one of hook and loop, snap buttons, magnetic fasteners, or other conventional fasteners, the fastening mechanism is configured to secure the wrap around a body part, a repositionable handle is configured to be attached to the body using, for example, sewn seams, wherein the handle is adjustable for optimal positioning based on the user's or caregiver's needs.
[0025] Reference will now be made in detail to the present preferred embodiments of the invention, examples of which are illustrated in the accompanying drawings. Wherever possible, the same reference numerals are used in the drawings and the description to refer to the same or like parts.
[0026] Referring initially to the drawings,
[0027] The body 102 includes a hook fastener portion 104 along one longitudinal end 106 thereof and a corresponding loop fastener portion 108 along the opposite longitudinal end 110 thereof. The hook fastener portion 104 and the loop fastener portion 108 are configured to removably fasten to each other to wrap the limb wrap or corset device 100 around leg, arm, or any other body part of a user. It should be noted that any other fastening means such as snap buttons, magnetic fasteners, or any other conventional fasteners can be used for wrapping and securing the limb wrap or corset device 100.
[0028] At least one handle or arm loop 112 is disposed on the exterior of the body 102 for enabling the wearer of the device 100 or a caregiver to easily lift, move, or position (i.e., maneuver) the limb into a desired location with minimal effort. It is to be appreciated that the handle 112 is sized for the wearer (i.e., sans hands) of the device 100 to place their arm (i.e., forearm) through the handle 112. The handle 112 is repositionable and is secured using a plurality of sewn seams 114. The device 100 can be adapted to create wraps for arms or other body parts to meet the requirements of different users. The device 100 has therapeutic use for individuals recovering from injury, surgery, or those with disabilities requiring assistance in leg or arm positioning.
[0029]
[0030] The limb wrap device 200 includes a closure mechanism 208 such as hook and loop for securing the limb wrap device 200 around leg, arm, or any other body part of the user. The repositionable handle 210 is used for holding to easily lift, move, or position (i.e., maneuver) the limb into a desired location with minimal effort. The combination of adjustable straps 206 and the handle 210 makes easy for both users and caregivers to manipulate the wrap for movement of the user using the device 200.
[0031]
[0032]
[0033] In some embodiments of the present invention, the multi-functional body wrap device is wrapped around the leg, arm, or any other body area needing the support. The wrap device is snugly fastened using the hook and loop or other closure mechanism. Then, the position of the handles is confirmed in the correct position for ease of use, based on the desired movement or assistance required. For the sling support, the padded body cover is used for inserting the sling strap therein and the padded body is placed under a user's body for enabling the sling straps to be used for moving or transferring a patient.
[0034] The multi-functional body wrap device of different embodiments can be made of one or more of neoprene, linen, micro-suede, elastic, denim, or any other washable, durable, waterproof, stain-resistant, and tear-resistant materials.
