DETAILED DESCRIPTION
[0020] The innovation is now described with reference to the drawings, wherein like reference numerals are used to refer to like elements throughout. In the following description, for purposes of explanation, numerous specific details are set forth to provide a thorough understanding thereof. It may be evident, however, that the innovation can be practiced without these specific details. In other instances, well-known structures and devices are shown in block diagram form to facilitate a description thereof. Various embodiments are discussed hereinafter. It should be noted that the figures are described only to facilitate the description of the embodiments. They are not intended as an exhaustive description of the invention and do not limit the scope of the invention. Additionally, an illustrated embodiment need not have all the aspects or advantages shown. Thus, in other embodiments, any of the features described herein from different embodiments may be combined.
[0021] As noted above, there exists a long-felt need in the art for an improved chair cushion device. There also exists a long-felt need in the art for a lounge chair cushion floatation device. More specifically, there exists a long-felt need in the art for a lounge chair cushion floatation device that can be used as a cushion for a lounge chair. Further, there exists a long-felt need in the art for a lounge chair cushion floatation device that can be used as a cushion for a lounge chair and also as a floating lounge device within a pool.
[0022] The present invention, in one exemplary embodiment, is comprised of a lounge chair cushion floatation device. The device is comprised of a body that is preferably rectangular in shape but may be any shape that can be used on a poolside lounge chair or other chair of the like. The body is preferably buoyant such that the device can be used as a floating lounge pad on a body of water, and also used as a cushion for a poolside lounge chair.
[0023] More specifically, the body is comprised of a top layer and a bottom layer preferably made from a waterproof fabric that is preferably also UV-resistant, mildew-resistant, and stain-resistant. The body is comprised of a middle layer between the top layer and the bottom layer that is preferably made from a high-density, air-filled foam that is buoyant. In one embodiment, the middle layer is inflatable (made of any type of inflatable material) and can be inflated via at least one air valve. The body may be comprised of at least one tertiary layer made from an air-tight PVC material that may be positioned between the top layer and middle layer and/or the middle layer and the bottom layer.
[0024] The body is also comprised of a first set of straps and a second set of straps. The first set of straps is preferably attached to a first edge of a body. The second set of straps is preferably attached to a second edge of a body. The first set of straps is comprised of a fastener. The second set of straps is also comprised of a fastener. The fasteners may be any reciprocating fastener types. The first set of straps can then be secured to the second set of straps around a portion of a chair when the device is being used as a chair cushion. In a different embodiment, the straps can be secured to themselves around a chair.
[0025] The present invention is also comprised of a method of using the device. First, a device is provided comprised of a body comprised of a top layer, a bottom layer, a buoyant middle layer positioned between the top layer and the bottom layer, a first set of straps comprised of the first fasteners, and a second set of straps comprised of the second fasteners. In an embodiment with an inflatable middle layer, the layer can be inflated via an air valve. Then, the body can be placed on a lounge chair (or other chair frame) wherein the first set of straps can be attached to the second set of straps via the fasteners or the first set of straps can be attached to itself via the fastener and the second set of straps can be attached to itself via the fasteners such that the body can be used as a cushion for the chair. Then, a user can sit on the body on the chair. Next, a user can remove the body from the chair via disengaging the straps from the chair. Finally, a user can place the body in a body of water and lay on the body as the body floats on the body of water.
[0026] Accordingly, the lounge chair cushion floatation device of the present invention is particularly advantageous as it provides an improved chair cushion device. More specifically, the device can be used as a cushion for a lounge chair. Further, the device can also be used as a floating lounge device within a pool. In this manner, the lounge chair cushion floatation device overcomes the limitations of existing lounge chair cushions and pool rafts known in the art.
