DETAILED DESCRIPTION
[0020] The innovation is now described with reference to the drawings, wherein like reference numerals are used to refer to like elements throughout. In the following description, for purposes of explanation, numerous specific details are set forth to provide a thorough understanding thereof. It may be evident, however, that the innovation can be practiced without these specific details. In other instances, well-known structures and devices are shown in block diagram form to facilitate a description thereof. Various embodiments are discussed hereinafter. It should be noted that the figures are described only to facilitate the description of the embodiments. They are not intended as an exhaustive description of the invention and do not limit the scope of the invention. Additionally, an illustrated embodiment need not have all the aspects or advantages shown. Thus, in other embodiments, any of the features described herein from different embodiments may be combined.
[0021] As noted above, there exists a long-felt need in the art for the sponge toothbrush device that ensures thorough removal and absorption of debris during brushing. There also exists a long-felt need in the art for the sponge toothbrush device that enhances cleaning effectiveness in hard-to-reach areas while minimizing discomfort for users with sensitive teeth and gums. Moreover, there exists a long-felt need in the art for the sponge toothbrush device that incorporates hygienic and user-friendly features, such as ergonomic handles, replaceable heads, and visual indicators for maintenance.
[0022] The present invention, in one exemplary embodiment, is comprised of a sponge toothbrush device. The device is comprised of a head featuring a central sponge designed to enhance cleaning and hygiene. The sponge is made from medical-grade antimicrobial foam with a porous structure for efficient debris capture and absorption, and quick-drying properties to minimize bacterial or fungal growth. The sponge is slightly protruded to maintain consistent contact with teeth and gums.
[0023] A plurality of bristles surrounds the sponge, varying in length and material such as nylon or biodegradable polymers. Tapered bristle tips ensure gentle cleaning, suitable for sensitive teeth and gums. Bristle arrangements, including spiral, concentric circle, cross-pattern, and zigzag layouts, are configured to optimize cleaning and address various debris removal requirements.
[0024] The device offers multiple head shapes, including oval, rectangular, triangular, and circular, each designed for specific cleaning needs and ergonomic preferences. Angled or tapered head designs facilitate effective cleaning of posterior teeth and hard-to-reach areas.
[0025] The head connects to an ergonomically designed handle with a non-slip grip for secure handling, even in wet conditions. The head can be removably attached to the handle using various fastening mechanisms, enabling replacement and extending the device's usability.
[0026] In some embodiments, the sponge includes micro-channels for even toothpaste distribution and color indicators to signal replacement. The sponge complements the bristles by polishing tooth surfaces and absorbing debris that bristles may leave behind, reducing plaque buildup and gum irritation while combating bad breath.
[0027] The method of use involves applying toothpaste to the sponge, positioning the head for contact with teeth and gums, and employing brushing motions to clean oral surfaces. The handle provides access to hard-to-reach areas. The device is rinsed after use, and the color indicator or replaceable head ensures sustained hygiene and performance.
[0028] The sponge toothbrush device offers a medical-grade antimicrobial sponge integrated into the brush head, effectively capturing debris and polishing tooth surfaces. Surrounding bristles provide a thorough cleaning, particularly in areas traditional toothbrushes may miss. With an ergonomic handle and replaceable head, the device ensures comfort and long-term usability. This innovative design addresses the limitations of standard toothbrushes, delivering a comprehensive, efficient, and user-friendly oral care solution.
[0029] Referring initially to the drawings,
[0030] A plurality of bristles 106 surrounds the sponge 104 and is designed to complement the sponge's 104 cleaning functionality. The bristles 106 may vary in length within the same embodiment of the device 100 or across different embodiments, allowing for comprehensive cleaning along teeth surfaces and gum lines. The bristles 106 are comprised of materials such as, but not limited to, high-quality nylon, biodegradable polymers, or animal hair. In one embodiment, each bristle 106 features a tapered tip 108, as seen in
[0031] The arrangement of the bristles 106 around the sponge 104 and/or on the head 102 may vary to suit different cleaning requirements. By way of example, spiral bristle 106 patterns are configured to direct debris toward the sponge 104, enhancing cleaning efficiency. Concentric circle bristles 106 patterns deliver a tiered cleaning effect, addressing both surface debris and areas near the gumline. Cross-pattern bristle 106 alignments improve plaque removal by lifting particles through intersecting bristles, while wavy or zigzag bristle 106 layouts increase reach between teeth and along gum lines.
[0032] The device 100 may include multiple brush head 102 shapes and bristle 106 arrangements in different embodiments. For example, an oval-shaped head 102 provides a traditional design that fits comfortably along the contours of teeth and gums, offering balanced coverage. A rectangular-shaped head 102 offers a broader surface area, facilitating faster brushing. A triangular-shaped head 102 is particularly effective for precision cleaning in narrow spaces and along gum lines. A circular-shaped head 102 is compact and ergonomic, making it ideal for children or users with smaller oral cavities. An angled and/or tapered head 102 enhances reach to posterior teeth and tight corners, ensuring effective cleaning with minimal effort.
[0033] The head 102 is attached to a handle 110 that is ergonomically designed for user comfort and practicality. The handle 110 is comprised of at least one non-slip rubberized-textured grip area 112, which ensures a secure grip, even in wet conditions. In one embodiment, the head 102 is removably attached to the handle 110, facilitating the replacement of the head 102 and extending the overall usability of the device 100. The head 102 may be attached to the handle 110 via a set of reciprocating fasteners 114, 116, such as, but not limited to, snap-fit connections, threaded joints, or magnetic couplings.
[0034] In one embodiment, the sponge 104 is comprised of at least one micro-channel 118 to facilitate the even distribution of toothpaste, ensuring uniform application across tooth surfaces and preventing overuse. Additionally, in one embodiment, the sponge 104 and/or the bristles 106 are comprised of a color indicator 120, such as, but not limited to, a pigment that fades over time to signal the need for replacement. This feature ensures the device 100 remains hygienic and effective.
[0035] During use, the sponge 104 functions as a secondary cleaning element by absorbing residual debris that standard bristles 106 might miss. The sponge 104 also gently polishes tooth surfaces, resulting in a smooth and clean feel after brushing. The combination of the sponge 104 and the surrounding bristles 106 effectively minimizes plaque buildup, reduces gum irritation, and helps combat bad breath by removing food particles and bacteria comprehensively.
[0036] The present invention is also comprised of a method of using 200 the device 100, as seen in
