DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS
[0020] Implementations of the present invention comprise systems and methods configured to provide a scent-based sensory blanket to an end-user for use in everyday life or within therapeutic, medical, wellness, or otherwise health-focused processes.
[0021] Smells can play a powerful role in therapeutic treatments and healthy living by engaging the brain in ways that influence mood, memory, and overall well-being. Blankets, especially those with soft textures, also offer a tactile sensory experience that can be soothing for individuals dealing with stress, trauma, or sensory processing disorders. They create a sense of containment, warmth, and protection, which can help people feel more grounded and secure. Implementations of the present invention discloses, in at least one aspect, a blanket system that can be customized by the end user for a particular fragrance or olfactory sensation, for example through use of a substitutable fragrance object. This fragrance object or fragrance provider, as further disclosed herein, can provide end-users with a highly customizable smell and touch therapeutic experience. Implementations of the present invention, for instance, can thus harness the impact of therapeutic or otherwise pleasant fragrances, such as essential oils and natural scents to promote relaxation, reduce stress, and improve mental clarity and can also help end-users self-regulate their emotions, enhance feelings of comfort during difficult sessions, or provide a calming presence in anxiety-inducing situations.
[0022] Implementations of the present invention take advantage of the notion that different fragrances can have highly variable effects on different individuals, whereby some individuals respond positively to certain scents and negatively to others. For example, common scents used by some in a medicinal, therapeutic, wellness, or health-focused environment include scents such as eucalyptus and lavender. For some people, these scents are desirable for their use case, and in other cases with other users, a different scent may be preferred. Even still, others prefer no scent at all. Hence, there is a wide variability among users. Further to this point, certain scents like lavender or chamomile are commonly used to soothe anxiety, while others like peppermint or citrus can boost energy and focus. Implementations of the present invention, when used in therapeutic programs can be used to create specific environments conducive to healing and emotional balance. For individuals dealing with trauma or stress, implementations of the present invention can evoke positive memories or feelings of comfort. In still other cases, certain scents may be helpful to speed up the perception of a healing process, such as certain scents that may be used to help clear up nasal cavities, such as with a cold.
