[0036] According to the disclosure, a type of disc for an auger screen is made of both structural and elastomeric materials. The structural material, such as steel, is placed at least on the leading surface of the auger. The elastomeric material, such as rubber, is placed at least on the trailing surface of the auger. In such a configuration the augers, which convey material in an axial conveyance direction, are made of the structural material which is resistant to wear. The roller conveyor (i.e., several augers placed side-by-side) which conveys material in the radial conveyance direction, is made of an elastomeric material which provides sufficient friction to act as a shape sorter.
